As a native Chicago resident, I'm not a fan of deep dish pizza. Spontini's pizza is completely different, though. The best way to describe eating Spontini is like eating a pizza cloud that ends with a generous crunch as you bite down. If you can, watch the cook use the huge iron pan to cook the thick pizza crust then spread generous amounts of tomato sauce and cheese. We ordered the Mediterranean (no mozzarella; sardines and olives) and mushroom large pizza slices. They are gigantic slices. I ate with three other people and we were thoroughly stuffed with these two orders. Spontini opened in 1953, and it's starting to gradually expand beyond Milan. Would love to eat here again someday. It's right across from the train station, so be sure to check it out!

Delicious pizza in Milan. It's not quite Sicilian style, but it's fluffy and amazing! They offer seating for customers only. The girl at the counter was very friendly. This was our first slice of pizza in Italy and I am glad it was at Spontini.

Steak n Shake - Strawberry banana milkshake. Yuuummmy!

Steak n Shake is an American restaurant that my kids just love! I however, had never been to one,…read moreand when I saw this one at Bicocca, I had to give it a try. First time around, I ordered a strawberry milkshake. It was a very hot day and I had walked a long way to get there. That milkshake was deeee-licious! Cold, thick, not too sweet, just right. You should get one. Next time, it was a hamburger with swiss and mushrooms. This was also very tasty and if you like swiss and mushrooms, I recommend it. Third time I got their classic burger, a hot tea, and a glass of wine. This 'plain' burger is very good. I got a whole pot of tea which was very nice - with sugar on the side, no milk (which was just fine with me). The wine was Okay for a fast food place! Fries come as a side with the burgers, and I don't really eat many of them. Mostly because the burger is big enough to fill me, but also because I really, really like crispy on the outside fries, and these are just not those fries. Also, because I eat them last, they are usually cold (I am a rather slow eater) so not as appetizing as when they are warm. My fave devours them! My first visit was soon after they open and the restaurant and bathroom were spotless. On the second visit it was still very clean. On my third visit the dining area was well maintained with staff walking around clearing tables and making everything neat. The bathrooms and dining room floors however really need a nice 'sweep' and perhaps a 'wash' would be a good idea too. The rest of the bathroom was clean however. No issue with their modern facilities. With offerings that include burgers, wine, beer, soda, tea, coffee, milk shakes, and desserts, in a nice, retro setting, I can easily recommend Steak n Shake if you are looking for an 'American Style' Burger.

It's always interesting trying McDonald's in other countries and see how much better it could be…read more Milan is no exception, and in this Italian version of McDonald's they have a cafe with freshly baked goods similar to every cafe in Italy at very competitive prices. Here they really take the environment seriously: no plastics in anything while still giving a good price. Located right under the Milano Centrale train station, this McDonald's feels extremely clean and modern with all the familiar amenities you find in the US plus the McCafe for the Italian version. I have to say, the croissant was very comparable to Italian Cafes here which is a good sign that the McDonald's tries to make the food actually taste good here, unlike in the US. Now one thing that differs is that they charge for ketchup, other condiments and even the restrooms. They also check for your COVID pass or CDC card if you're American. They were doing this before the new restrictions so I wouldn't be surprised if they continued afterwards. Overall, lovely McDonald's and it is refreshing to see this being held to a higher standard than most US based Mcds.

I was able to order my food via the ordering kiosks, as they had an option for multiple languages including Italian and English, so it was relatively straightforward to find and select what I wanted to order. I ordered the gluten-free burger, strangely this was on the menu but they didn't state what was on the burger, nor could I order any other burger on the menu with a gluten-free bun, I do feel this could be improved, It's great they have gluten-free buns but why is there only one burger available, especially one they fail to describe? The gluten-free burger turned out to be a cheeseburger, with no sauce/pickles, just plain meat and cheese, they did seem to take cross contamination seriously, as my burger arrived wrapped in plastic packaging, inside a cardboard burger box, but that's the only good thing I have to say about it. It turns out that they heat up the burger in the bag, so it was pretty disgusting, the bun was fine, but the burger its-self was dry and bland and the meat didn't taste right at all, it tasted like it was microwaved or boiled. My gluten-eating guest commented her food was fine she ordered a Fillet of Fish. Be aware that they do charge for sauces here, Ketchup, BBQ sauce and the other usual suspects are 30 cents extra here, which are usually free in the UK. 2* - Obviously there are much better choices than McDonald's, especially in Italy, if you're looking for a quick bite in central station, this place isn't too bad, it looks presentable and has a large seating area and fast service, but disappointing food quality means it's a let down for me.
