I've had some time to reflect and think about my experience with this salon and feel compelled to leave a review. I want to start this review by stating that I really love my regular stylist, Dolce. She is a warm, compassionate, loving, and a talented artist. She connects with her clients in a way that I truly feel safe in her hands and her expertise. I have been seeing Dolce for most cuts at the salon, and I am always so happy to see her.
Unfortunately, the last few times I've been to this salon, I've had essentially a nightmare of an experience. I asked for color and cut, and wanted a change. I'm in love with copper color and trusted that the other stylists would be like Dolce since they're all trained by the master stylist. I am going to be omitting the names of the individuals I am dissatisfied with from this review to protect the integrity of their identities, as I sincerely hope that this nightmare will be rectified as I have been a regular for about 3 years now. I always tip, even when I dislike my service because they work so hard, as does anyone in the service industry, and working in the service industry myself, you always tip because it's just good karma.
On Saturday, 5/14/16, I really needed a haircut and color. I will absolutely admit to wanting a drastic change after an emotional event, however I had been talking about this change with Dolce for a while and found the perfect color on pintrest. On this particular occasion, I went to the girl that had cut my hair a few months before. I thought since Dolce wasn't available I could trust my hair with the newer girl. She's a very sweet person, and I can tell that she's new, as she had the master stylist come over and tell her what to do to achieve the look. We were all excited and ready for a fun change! Except, as my girl was mixing the colors, and we started the process, I discovered the entire process would be $310 for cut, color, and highlights(I usually pay around $150 and my hair wasn't dark, it was very light brown/red). Yikes
The stylist continued to work on my hair and she was really friendly while applying everything and washed my hair out. When we got back to the chair and I saw the highlights, and I was mortified. I said I didn't like them, and my stylist said that's how highlights look when you wash them and that my hair will blend in to it while she blows it out. She spun the chair around and blow dried my hair. It was...not okay. I was not happy with it at all. My highlights were streaky, orange, and parts of my hair were fried. She said that it'll blend into my hair, then curled my hair and sent me off.
When I got home to examine my hair, I had an anxiety attack at how bad it was. Large strips of highlights were in my hair. Not blended at all, and the look I requested was so completely far off from what I had, I was devastated. Not only was the color horrible, the cut was too. I had holes in my hair, and my hair was fried and damaged.
I called the salon the very next day because I wanted my hair to be fixed. They were understanding and offered for me to come in to fix the color and cut. I got to the salon and had the master stylist that originally consulted the newer stylist on my hair asked why I didn't love my incredibly chunky, stripy high lights and insisted that was the look I showed her. I pulled up my phone and showed her the pictures I originally showed them, which clearly had no severe highlights and had to point out the damage to my hair. I said I wanted the damaged part cut off and for my color to be close to what I asked for. She seemed offended that I disliked her style suggestion from before, cut my hair, and told me she'd blow dry my hair out for me since I had work later in the day. She offered a complimentary deep condition treatment, however, she started getting distracted by her next client, left the treatment on my hair for less than two minutes, and instead of blowing my hair out, she stuck me under the old-school hair dyer/heating cap thing.
She offered to sell me more products and I was like no, no thank you. I tipped her for her time because again, this is something you do in the service industry, and left. I'm so upset at how I was treated at the re-do appointment and my hair still has some orange highlights at the base, but at least she blended the color and cut the damage out. I went home with partially wet hair, and had to style so I could look professional for work later in the day.
I hope that they understand how incredibly unhappy and anxiety-producing this experience has been. I'm beyond dissatisfied with the service I received for the results from the first time, and even more so at the re-do. I sincerely hope they see this review and understand they will lose a great client if they don't refund me, or at least offer a free cut and color as I honestly want to go back one more time and give them a chance to make this better and restore my confidence in their service read more
