I also wish I could give zero stars, but I guess the salon is deserving of one star just for being an Aveda salon - the only type I ever use.
My hair stylist of 2 and half years moved away so I was looking for a colorist. I went to Split Ends and left after five and half hours of hell. I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a hairstylist. Cindy, the store manager and lead colorist, is a nightmare. When I tried to tell her what I wanted it was like talking to a wall. She wouldn't listen, but would just retort about what SHE thought was a good idea. She told me which color she wanted to dye my base. It looked really different from what I usually do, so I called my previous Aveda salon to get the formula my old hairstylist used. I showed Cindy the formula and she STILL insisted her color formula was superior. After about an hour long consultation I gave up in frustration. She wasn't budging, and since she'd been working in the industry for so many years I decided to trust her. Big mistake. I left with orange hair and multiple friends asked me the next day if I "did my hair at home" - not a response you want after paying $120.
I called her yesterday telling her I was unhappy with the color and wanted to try to fix it. She defended herself to the point of aggression, using arguments such as "we called your old salon and everything, I don't know what else you want from me" How about USE THE FORMULA that my old salon gave you??? I tried so hard to stay calm through all of this, as I have never had a bad experience with a hair stylist before and never ever gotten into an argument with one. It turned into one unfortunately, she is THAT combative. Finally, she said "I'm going to refund your money because I just don't want to work with you anymore." After all that and all of my patience, you're dumping ME? Get me out of here!!
Just as another example of the nightmare: I told her my hair was on the fragile side so please don't highlight all the way through to the ends, something I thought was a simple thing to ask. She argued with me for about 15 minutes just on this point, saying that she always goes through the ends and it will look horrible if she doesn't (which is clearly not true). Finally, she told me point blank if i want her to lie to me and tell me she won't do it, she'll lie to me to make me feel better. I was astounded at this lack of professionalism. I insisted she not go through the ends. I asked after the coloring AGAIN "You didn't go through to the ends right?" she said "No, I only did the roots, just like you said." But, not only did I leave with orange hair, my hair also felt incredibly damaged and dry when I went home. This didn't make sense since my roots were the only part of my hair I told her to color (highlights and base). When I went to another Aveda salon two days later, my new hairstylist (who is a dream!) told me that the highlights were definitely through to the ends. Another stylist at my new salon knew Cindy and said she is "notorious for going through to the ends." Apparently she was willing to lie to me to make me feel better. Well Cindy, I don't feel better and neither does my hair.
I'm warning all of you to stay away from this place. Split Ends has been under her management for 17 years now and her lack of empathy for clients and her ultimate concern for the bottom-line and upselling you with products has obviously hurt their reputation. If you do go, make sure to stay away from Cindy, for your own good! read more
