Gold pass comes with free parking, bring a friend tickets, discounts on food and merchandise, as well as a complimentary souvenir cup which allows you to get free fountain drinks throughout the park with it. We went today, Monday 06/29. Lines were only about a 5-7 min wait time, if that. We mostly enjoyed the lazy river next to the big slides, they have a small current that pushes you through, along with fountains of water that spray you. Locker rentals were $17 for a small locker all day. Alcohol is expensive there too. Two draft beers and an Aquafina water was $27, so be warned. Cabanas are also available to rent, via online only to get the season pass discount. They have two locations, big surf which is along the side of hurricane bay, and the beach club cabanas, which are located near the lazy river. If you purchase the vip cabanas, it comes with 8 bottles of water, food service, I believe 4 souvenir beach towels, and a tote bag to keep with you. One thing I noticed that's changed since when I came here as a kid, the bathrooms are air conditioned now, they were also relatively pretty clean for being a theme park as well. I believe all together there are around 7 roller coasters, lots of water attractions, and of course the pay to play games. Will be back within the next few days

BUT, I enjoy watching my family enjoy them! There is a huge area for the little ones. Lots of rides like cars, monster trucks , blimps, etc and all of these are low on the thrill but high on the fun. My wife loves the roller coasters and they apparently have some good ones. The 5D movie theater is fun too. It's indoors, has moving chairs and effects like wind and vibrations. It was well received by all our kids. In the summer The water park is super awesome and huge. There are a hand full of places to eat and for the most part they are all the same quality - amusement park food and prices. Great place to spend time with your family or friends.

Solid family wave pool located in the hurricane bay portion of Kentucky kingdom in Louisville ky…read more This is the smaller and less crowded wave pool in the park. Not nearly as crowded which makes it more family friendly. The waves aren't as large as the and intense as the "big surf" attraction which was the original and the more popular wave pool. However, this is still fun and you do get some nice and fun wave action. Overall cool and relaxing water attraction at Kentucky kingdom. More of just a place to actually swim like a public pool as it has more room and isn't as crowded as other water wave pools at hurricane bay

Big Surf

Big Surf is a very popular attraction and was actually the original Hurricane bay attraction. When it first was added to Kentucky kingdom it was the only water attention so it was actually just called "hurricane bay". As that portion expanded and continued to grow it took on the moniker of Big Surf. It is a 750,000 gallon wave pull that gets up to 6 fr waves. If you go to the deeper end it can get pretty intense and I'd reccomended being a competent swimmer. Very fun but I really wish they would limit the amount of people and eliminate the inner tubes here. I always get super frustrated because it gets so crowded and your always bumping into people and tubes. I went here as a kid and loved it but as a parent it gives me anxiety. They usually have 2-3 lifeguards on site around the wave pool but it is so crowded and the big waves throw people around that it can be dangerous for little ones. I'd really oblige by the 48 Inches to be alone rule here and even then if someone isn't a strong swimmer I'd recommend some type of flotation device. Overall this is a super fun wave park. Probably the best one I have ever been in. It stimulates a big ocean wave as good as the real thing.

Smallish but creative area that's basically a very creative splash pad for the toddlers who may not be able to swim or aren't quite ready for the action in the other nearby water adventures in the park. Over the years I've taken my little ones here a few times and usually the giant swan draws them in. They will run around and play for a bit and have a good time. Overall, very nice addition to the water attractions in the theme park and helps include all ages and sizes in the fun times at the park.

This massive body slide is one of the worlds largest and is 12 stories tall and features a 377 foot drop with 121 feet of it coming at a 70 degree angle. I've rode this body slide multiple times and each time it doesn't get any less nerve inducing. First off you climb an insane amount of steps. For those who count steps you will get them by riding this ride. At the top you have a platform that offers beautiful views of the city and park. However on some days with a slight wind you will sway back and forth which adds to the thrill and unsettling feeling. The workers put you in a plastic tube casing and you stand up against a backboard with your arms and feet crossed. Below your feet's is a clear see through floor that will momentarily be removed from underneath you. As stated the first half of this slide is practically straight down. So if you fear heights do not look down. The machine has a 3...2...1 countdown but that isn't what triggers the floor being opened. The operators hit a button so there is no timing and bracing yourself for the fall. Some workers have some fun with it and drop you at different parts or pretend it's stuck and then let you fall. They of course still make sure you are in there properly and safe. The drop itself will literally take your breath away. Most of the time by time I can recollect my thoughts or breath I'm on the backstretch at high speeds and water is splashing me in the face. I personally love this ride. The epitome of a thrill ride. As stated Above. If you or your little ones do not do heights or scare easy then this isn't for you. It's no fun climbing the steps and I can imagine it wouldn't be fun climbing back down if you get up there and decide against it (happens a lot). The ride itself does have a min height requirement of 48 inches and max weight of 300lbs. It is a single rider so you are by yourself. The first time I took my kids alone I was stuck with "do I go first and hope they don't chicken out or do I go second and hope they don't freak out at the bottom or wander off". So just some things to consider before riding. Overall 5 star experience for me. Fun, thrilling and my absolute favorite water park attraction in the hurricane bay section. If they got me an elevator lift to the top id be more inclined to ride it back to back to back.

This swim club is extremely racist and biased. Multiple people I know that aren't white that…read moreapplied for multiple jobs and were highly qualified where denied a job while their white peers got accepted even though they were less qualified. They are also sexist many of the female lifeguards I know that work their never get promoted to black or blue suits while the male employees easily do. They also have bad customer service and will make you wait to be helped until they finish their conversation. As an Asian woman I don't feel welcomed or safe with my kids and I wouldn't recommended anyone of color to come to Lakeside.

Kiddie pool, high dive, swimming lanes, float area, water basketball and water volleyball. Some areas are 4 feet, some 8. Grills and picnic tables. Bring your own food if you like but no aluminum cans or glass. Parking is on the street only. Overall a treasure, the highlight of our summer visits to Louisville.

This was one of the most badly managed restaurants I've ever been to, and it really is a shame…read morebecause the food itself was legitimately decent. This was a last minute brunch choice for my top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality and I on our last day in Louisville. We'd been looking at some of the gorgeous old houses in Old Louisville but couldn't find a brunch spot over there. I remembered that there had been some interesting looking establishments in Butchertown from our bourbon tour the prior day, so we came over here. It was a Saturday morning and decently packed, but South Seas turned out to be a weird combo of a brunch restaurant, a tiki bar and a mini golf course. Throughout our time there, young adult customers asked how to utilize the golf course, and the whole place just seemed geared toward more of a party at the beach kind of crowd versus a normal brunch crowd. I don't ultimately think that was our specific problem, but I'm guessing it didn't help that the business model was weird and it wasn't clear what they wanted to be. We didn't like the vibe immediately, and most of that was due to a specific waitress who looked like she'd rather be anywhere else than at her job. We waited for several extra minutes as she sloooowly walked from area to area, clearly disinterested in what she was doing. That wouldn't be acceptable if the place was super empty with just one or two customers, and it certainly wasn't okay when there were people waiting to be seated (and we noticed a lot of customers sitting at empty tables with no food and/or drinks). If we weren't on a quasi-schedule on our way to the airport, I probably would have pulled the plug right then and there and spent a few extra minutes trying to find a better option nearby. Thankfully we didn't get that specific waitress, and ours was at least a little friendlier and energetic. It still took a VERY long time to order and receive our food (we immediately requested the check when the food came up). It wasn't just the lackadaisical approach to service either - their payment system is incredibly ineffective (at least for this type of business, given how sluggish everything moved), where the waitresses just sat there for up to several minutes with those portable credit card processors at the table as the customers slowly went through the key prompts. What we both found mystifying is that the waitresses could have made lemonade from lemons and used those few minutes to quickly bus or visit other tables. They did neither, and the one waitress unprofessionally hung out in the accompanying booth for one of these payments with her knees on the seats just hanging out. We saw the manager pop out twice VERY briefly and not to actually manage - she quickly walked in and out, didn't address any of the very obvious service/hospitality issues going on in the restaurant and then...went back to the tiki bar, where she was just hanging out on her phone. Just terrible, and there's no excuse for it. If she'd been able to tear her eyes away from her social media feed for 30 seconds and actually see what was going on or not going on in the establishment she was allegedly managing, she could have told her waitresses to work with a sense of urgency and remember to smile every once in a while at the paying customers. Maybe she also could have taken the initiative to replace the toilet paper in the bathroom, but don't worry - my friend handled it free of charge. The South Seas French Toast? Really tasty, which means that the cook in the back at least knows how to work independently/without being managed (I guarantee they weren't since the cook wasn't stationed in front of the tiki bar). So many unforced errors. I hope upper management/ownership really takes a strong look at what happened here and makes efforts to fix it. But if your manager is just sitting on her phone instead of properly instructing the staff to do their job, she's the one stealing money from you, not them.
