As I'm writing this review I'm still in disbelief on our experience at this place this morning 8-17-2024. I called in last night to inquire about a boat rental, I got prices and information on what we would need to rent the boat, which was a drivers license and a credit card, and you had to be born before September 1993. All requirements my husband meets. We headed out this morning and everything was going great, we decided on the boat we wanted, handed over our license and credit card. Our total was well over 1000 dollars which we were ok with. The two men at the front desk were very nice and helping us through the process when the lady from the office "manager" steps out and says she is not allowed to rent to someone who speaks Spanish. I ask what she means by this and she again says she can't rent to some one who can't comprehend English. Yes my husband doesn't not speak English fluently but can comprehend and read it well enough to rent a boat! She stated it's written policy from the insurance which when I asked her to see this written she hid in her office and handed one of the men a sticky note with the insurance information. of course a 1800 number that is closed during the weekend. I really feel bad for the owner of this business because as a business owner my self I know how bad a bad employee can have an influence on a paying customer. I thought racism was a thing of the past especially in area known or advertised for tourism. (Also I did speak to a few agents at Markel the insurance company and they stated that this was not part of their policy, and much rather had to do with the manager or owner of the store we were renting from) read more

We rented jet skis on Tuesday 7/26 and had a great day. The JetSki's were a little older and beat up but it was fun. On Thursday 7/28 we rented a pontoon boat and picked it up several hours late as we weren't feeling well with the corona but knew we'd lose our money if we cancelled so we went ahead and picked it up and then when we returned it only half an hour late they charged us $125! I don't really think that was fair considering we picked it up late. read more

Employees eat crayons.. left us on a jet ski stranded for better half of the day.. told us it was our fault the impeller sucked up muck while riding in the designated area. Asked by front desk douche.. why didn't you call? And request what ?? AAA?? Spend your money at another location! read more

Very Expensive for 4 hours over $550 and they charged extra $41 for gas! This is way more than lake Travis ! Won't be renting here again :(

I had an absolute fantastic time renting a boat at this place. We were camping out at Blackrock and my friends wanted to do some water tubing. So they told us about this place which was about a 20 minute drive from where we were. When we arrived, there were two other customers getting serviced but the two guys working here was fast and efficient. The paperwork process was about 10 minutes and we just had to drive right around to the back and were able to take the boat right off the dock! They took the time to explain how to operate the boat and neither of the boys with us on the boat had any issues operating it. They paid attention, not I. Besides I didnt care to drive, I just wanted to swim and have a relaxing day! For 4 hours, it was around 260 bucks and then fuel costs after that. We brought the boat back a little later past the 4 hours because we had missed the canal turn and got slightly lost. We called them right away when we realized which was about 15 minutes prior to the 4 hour mark and they were understandable. All in all, it was one of the best Saturdays I have had in a while. 4 hours of fun on the lake, #worth. read more

He helped us into the water with our Kayaks and gave us great pointers to get started. It felt like we were being taken care of by family. No issues at all. Rented a 18' ski boat. Battery was weak, so they changed it out and got us on the water in time for our rental period to start. Location is good, just plan on about 10 minutes to make it through the canal out to the river. I guess the only bad part was getting stuck behind some paddle boarders that were in no hurry at all coming back through the canal to their dock. read more

We went back to Lake LBJ a few weeks ago and decided to give Splash Boat rentals another chance. When I reserved the two jet skis fir the day, I explained what had happened a month or so prior. I was told that all the older machines had been sold and they only had the newer models. I was skeptical, but was pleasantly surprised when we picked up the two Wave runners and they were as promised. The service was very good and the staff was friendly. No problems at all. read more

Only positive thing: the young man you helped us was polite and friendly. Negative : less than 50% of employees were wearing masks. These young adults are the most likely to be sharing germs. Secondly- equipment was in poor condition. Third - gas is completely overpriced as is their rental costs. Lastly - management has poor customer service. Next time we are in the area we will make the drive to a further marina to rent. read more

Received great customer service from them on Memorial Day. I highly recommend renting a boat here because they bring the boat to the dock behind their building and you hop on and go enjoy. The boat was delivered in clean condition on the interior and exterior, and ran smoothly. Very Easy process to rent, and I loved that they didn't make a big fuss over being 15 minutes late to return it. Prices are reasonable. Only issue is they call some of their boats "ski boats" when in fact they are run about boats. read more

Due to a family emergency, I had to cancel a boat rental less than a week from the date we were supposed to rent a boat from Splash. Spoke with a manager. She was very helpful and accommodating. Splash Rentals is a great place to rent on Lake LBJ for your watercraft needs. They have jet skis, pontoon boats, and ski boats with or without wakeboard towers. Splash Rentals also provides combos (jet ski/pontoon) in different sizes. Wake boards, tubes, or skis, can be rented separately include ski vests. They will gas up your rental of choice for an extra charge but you can't beat the convenience. If you are not looking for a powered water vehicle you can rent single or double kayaks. These guys have what you need. There is a $25 savings special if you go to their rental services, which is great to start with. They deliver directly to your dock if you cannot make it to their waterfront location on Lake LBJ, Kingsland TX. Did I mention convenient? This is a big plus especially if you've called ahead. This makes it easier! I checked out their website beforehand http://splashboatrentals.com/index.html which offers lodging information, photos, and this was very helpful. It includes all their contact information, pricing for their services. I was able to get an idea of what they offered before making my decision! As a rule of thumb, always make sure to understand all the guidelines, service fees, and the fine print. Always ask questions if you are unclear of anything. This way you can make an educated decision on whether or not this is the place for you! These guys have great customer service and if there are any issues (equipment issues, billing, etc.) they'll work with you to get them resolved. Splash boat rentals is great. We showed up on two separate days without a reservation and we were in the water within 15 minutes both times. Once with a pontoon boat and the other time with 2 jet skis. They were great at offering tips on where to go on the Colorado River and Lake LBJ. They also took the time to explain everything. The dock guys were great. Really friendly and wanted us to have a great time. The pontoon had a small issue where it wouldn't restart in the middle of the lake. But I called them and they walked me through a few things to try and we got it restarted within 10 minutes. They were already on their way to help us. We got a text with our total fuel used within 30 minutes of checking the boats in. Didn't have to wait around for anything. Just stepped off the boats and go. Would definitely rent from these guys again!!!! read more

We decided to play it safe and just go for kayaks, but the staff were happy to answer our plethora of questions and weren't pushy about offering a pricier rental. Even in this busier time when everyone's trying to do all of their water sports before school starts back, there were plenty of rentals available, even with no reservation. I see several negative reviews; but we had a really great experience. We rented a standard ski-boat over the Memorial 2013 weekend (a busy time for rentals!). Splash: 1) Delivered the boat to us on Ink's lake, 2) It was there early, unloaded and waiting for us! 3) it had the correct rental tubes/kneeboard, and special lifejacket requested, 4) boat ran great and we had a great time, 5) it was a nice boat, in good shape and with a stereo & shade cover too!, 6) they were there right on-time to pick it up, we just walked away and let them load it up, 7) gas charge was reasonable & they followed up with the specific amount. A great experience! Where else would you get such good service. I would wholly recommend them and I'll use them again next time! read more

We decided to rent a lake house the 2nd to last week of April so we could social distance on a beautiful lake. We called Splash boat and reserved a boat for Saturday. They were very nice and luckily they had a boat for us. We picked up the boat and everything seemed good. We were able to ride on the boat for about an hour and a half and then went back to the house to have lunch. After lunch we were planning to take the tube out and go tubing. 10 minutes in the boat was making a jerking noise and motion so we called them. They told us they'd send someone out to look at it. We went back to our house and waited about an hour. When they showed up the boat wasn't doing it anymore. So we all got back on and noticed there was a screw missing on the tow bar. Called the place and they told us to come to their place and they'd give us a special rope. They were very kind and professional the whole time. Got the rope and FINALLY started to pull the tube and it started jerking again. Called the place and they told us to bring the boat back because they wanted it out for the water. They drove us home since we all didn't fit in one car, which was very kind. Gina was very nice and helpful and so was everyone else we interacted with. They did not have another boat for us to use but offered to give us a boat on Sunday for 4 hours. Unfortunately we had to check out of our lake house Sunday morning. They refunded us two hours even though we spent most of the day waiting or headed to and from their shop. It would be a 5 star review if the boat had worked properly. I was so excited to get a boat for the day and severely disappointed when it didn't all work out. read more

We used Splash for half day rental of a brand new 22' pontoon boat in June 2020. We got a tube which was perfect for two 13 year girls. That staff was incredibly helpful. They could not have been nicer. They really wanted to make sure we had a safe and fun experience. Just reserved for another day on the lake. read more

Disappointed with the maintenance of the boat. The cover in front of the engine was not secured which allowed water to enter the boat. The bilge pump did not work which allowed the water to remain in the boat. The horn did not work. All three could have been checked prior to assigning us the boat. read more

I rented 2 jetskis from Splash Boat Rentals, and they're customer service is great. I had nothing but great service and a positive experience from them. Their prices are fair, and they are extremely reasonable on selection of what I was looking at. I think I was talking to the owner directly, which always shows me that you care about your business and your customers whenever the owner is directly onsite. A lot of these bigger places won't have that, and it's a lot less personable. Great customer service, great prices, and great products! I'd recommend Splash Boat Rentals to anyone! read more

Be aware: Rented an all-day ski boat. At 9am, upon delivery it broke down and was told it might be fixed within a couple hrs. I was told they had a pontoon available for half day if the ski boat couldn't be fixed. At 12:30, I met with the owner to accept the pontoon only to be told they had no boats to rent to me. Apparently, they rented the boat I was told was available for me if the ski boat wasn't fixed within a reasonable time. I am an understanding person knowing that situations happen beyond the control of the company, however as a business, there should be an emergency contingency plan for just such a situation. Instead, the owner was rude, lied to about the availability of another boat, and offered no viable alternatives. If your planning a vacation with a boat rental being a central point of fun, please be careful when dealing with this owner. read more

Know that there will be a gas charge, but if you read your paperwork it's all laid out for you! They explain the fees upfront and if you LISTEN, there won't be any surprises- duh!!! read more

I rented a jet ski from Splash and they charged me twice, the exact amount twice on the same day! I called them and they said to send them proof which I did. I never heard back so I called again the next day. Charles (who i think is the owner) said he got the email but no documentation and said he emailed me back which is didn't. I resent the email and even sent my document again as an attachment to the email. Additional follow up email and phone call and he still hasn't reimbursed me. I have field a complaint with the BBB and my Credit Union. Luckily my credit union will reimbursement while they do the investigation. After the fact, I had heard from another boat rental that this place was a rip off and now I know first hand. I only gave them 1 star because I could not submit the review with 0 stars!! read more

STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!!! I rented 3 jet skis - completely followed their rules for safe-keeping of them. Brought all 3 back in the same working order as they were delivered to me. My boyfriend and I were in the area with some friends and we decided to rent a few kayaks and spend the day on the water. What a great workout! It was only $45 to rent each kayak for 24 hours! I've always wanted to have my own kayak, but I don't have the funds to shell out $900 for one at the moment, so this is a great option. Other people were saying they had their credit cards double charged, but this didn't happen to me so I can't really say anything bad about them and it was probably just a mistake. Will be back to rent kayaks again if I'm in the area, maybe even a boat or some jet skis! read more

BEST BOAT RENTAL IN THE AUSTIN AREA! We rented a 22ft pontoon for our last family day of the summer, Aug 2015. Best price for any lake within 100 miles and the boat was brand new, top of the line. We checked in quickly and they literally swarm your vehicle to carry everything to the boat - which was directly behind their office, already in the water. Bluetooth radio, 115hp motor, canopy -SUPER CLEAN!! This will be our last family outing before our son's twins arrive and we wanted to give these kids a great day. IT WAS THE BEST DAY!! I can't say enough GREAT things about these guys. Thank you so much for a day we will always remember. We will be back!! And thanks also for helping us make a decision between a pontoon boat and a pool in our backyard! We will rent from you guys a few times a year and I can have my pool!! read more

Had a good experience renting their 18ft ski boat, boat was in decent shape and was clean. engine had minor stall issues at times when starting from neutral. The location is convenient in the upper part of the lake which is less choppy and great for wake boarding. The only complaint I have is they charge a lot ($45) for wakeboard rentals but the board are very cheap with terrible bindings with worn velcro that does not stay closed. We had to go back and change the board once, the second was better but not great. It would pop off your feet if you are heavier and apply a lot of pressure when getting out of the water. Find a board elsewhere if you can or bring your own. read more

To be clear here the people are very nice and accomplishing. However, I recently rented their "ski" boat that was not a great experience. The boat was too small for Lake LBJ and was not in the best mechanical shape. We rented it for wakeboarding and surfing and never got the ballasts to work. The speaker works but is cheap and frankly a joke. IMO the $495 for 4 hours is too much for this boat plus gas you use. Our experience with the boat was so bad that we took it back early. I had hoped for some sort of credit but understand I signed a contract. I would recommend you really investigate and inspect what you're renting before you sign an agreement. If I would have done my diligence beforehand I would hold have not signed up. At the end of the day I was hoping for a good time with the kids. Turned out not to be great. read more

Spent the weekend in Horseshoe Bay with hubby and kids. We chose Splash bc it wasn't a far drive (didn't want to go to MF bc of the boat races). They were very helpful- we rented kayaks on day 1. Great fun and good rate for 24 hrs (but they should have a 1/2 day rental rate). Next day we rented a pontoon. Easy to navigate and very easy check in and out! The guys were very helpful not only in loading the boat but in unloading the boat. Had great service here! read more
