Update: After…read moreposting this review, we did finally receive a voicemail from management apologizing for the experience and acknowledging the communication breakdown. While I appreciate the outreach, it came after more than five weeks of repeated requests made both in person and by phone. During that time, we were consistently told that someone would contact us, yet no one ever did. Unfortunately, by the time management reached out, we had already made the decision to cancel our membership and move on. We have since found a private certified swim instructor who is able to provide one-on-one instruction at half the cost of what we were planning on paying with Big Blue . More importantly, the communication was immediate, straightforward, and responsive. This review was never about whether private lessons were available. It was about customer service, follow-through, and communication. Had someone simply returned one of our many requests with an honest update, we likely would have remained customers. I genuinely appreciate the instructors who worked with our son over the past two+ years and wish them the best. However, the lack of responsiveness from management ultimately led us to take our business elsewhere.

We were looking to build on swimming skills for our 10-year-old son and we couldn't be any happier with the results. Instructors, Derek and Michelle are fantastic. I almost don't want to write this review, because I want to keep the gem of an instructor, Isabella…read moreK., at this location a secret. Six months seems like a good time to really attest to the quality of swim lessons my sister has with Isabella, her swim instructor. We went in hoping with all our might that my sister would be paired with a good instructor who has experience with individuals with special needs. At the beginning, I tried to find reviews on specific instructors and times that worked best, and ultimately, with sheer dumb luck, we chose Isabella. That decision has been a very fortunate luck of the draw for my sister to have Isabella for her instructor. We had very low expectations for my sister's goal in learning to swim. However, with Isabella's guidance, care, compassion, and immense patience, my sister's progress has exceeded our expectations. Isabella is a wonderful instructor who embodies warmth, positivity, and is firm even when she brings on new challenges for growth, which is perfect for my sister. With her compassion and kindness, Isabella has managed to make major progress with my sister to allow swimming goggles to be placed over her eyes. For nearly all her life, my sister has hated being submerged under water, goggles over her eyes, or anything over her face, but Isabella has been able to change that and help my sister grow in less than a year. Isabella is efficient and effective as a swim instructor. Isabella offers a safe and welcoming space for her students, including and especially those with special needs. Waterworks Aquatics is lucky to have such a great instructor as Isabella K., whose technical skills are just as wonderful as her care and empathetic nature to her students and the family she works with. She deserves to be recognized for her work, kindness, and patience. I do want to mention, this location is a heated pool facility, with a separate play look, is kept clean overall, and the bathrooms are decent in cleanliness. Parking also usually isn't an issue. My only complaint, and this is regarding the application/portal, is that often from my use, it has glitched where I can't always find the specific instructor. I've had to screen cap and send this over so the company can work with IT but it has happened a few times now. This is more of a technical critique and not related at all to the instructor nor facility.

We have a pool at home so felt it was very important to get her comfortable in the water, which she initially wasn't. Ms Alia helped her feel so much more comfortable, and now she looks forward to swim class and also practicing what she has learned at home. After 2 months she now loves getting into the water, she can safely lower herself into the pool, practice her big swim arms and dunking her head, is able to grab onto the wall and even dive to the bottom of the pool. It's incredible to watch her progress each visit. Ms Alia perfectly balances giving her students confidence to do things independently with gentle guidance. I highly recommend Bubble Up Swim School!

Interesting how an Aqua-Tots ads popped up on my email and brought back a painful memory. I…read morerecently found old videos of my daughter's swimming lessons with aqua tots, and watching them again was heartbreaking. She was only 4, new to swimming, scared, crying, and clearly looking for her safe place -- her parents. Seeing staff block her from leaving the pool area while she was afraid was hard to watch as a parent. I remember talking to a "Karen" that worked there, "oh thats just how it is she will get use to it" same person that did not greet us when we stood at the counter waiting. Vibe was already off and I didn't notice my instincts. I don't believe this reflects every experience or everyone there, and maybe it was just that day or the staff we had. But for us, it was unforgettable. Looking back, I wish I had trusted my instincts sooner and spoken up more. Thankfully, after finding another swim school, she learned to love swimming and moved forward. Still, watching that footage today reminded me how important it is for parents to trust what they feel and advocate for their child.

Now: let's talk about the front desk: I called and was told that they had coaches for adults for private lessons. I gave the young lady the information over the phone and after some thought, I decided to visit the place....I was greeted at the front desk and was told that there were no coaches. You see, they needed to understand, I was ONLY soliciting them because my coach is out of town, nothing more. Anyway, they told me me that it's only for kids, to which I said: "if parents weren't paying for kids, then the kids wouldn't be able to take the class..." then they told me: "Well we don't have adult classes because we don't want injuries." To which I replied: "ANYONE can get injuries especially children." It was the GASLIGHTING that struck me the most........! The front desk then told me that I could go upstairs to see the facility as a whole and I did. (1) the stare downs from the staff and patronage was crazy, (2) the LACK OF SUPERVISION of a LOT of the children was telling!!!!!! The kids could've been injured and the coaching staff wouldn't have known it, is THIS what they meant by lack of supervision and injuries????.......I don't want to even go there with the TOTAL LACK OF DIVERSITY! IT WAS GLARING! I watched for about 10-20 minutes and the I decided to use the restroom before I left. As I finished using the restroom, some I called one of the coaches to the side to inquire about adult gymnastics and this seriously elderly lady just butted into the conversation and pretty much got in my face and she told me: "we don't do adult gymnastics here!" I looked her up and down and said: "ok." She then proceeded to tell me: "I can't have you on the floor" to which I responded, "I'm not ON the floor, I just finished using YOUR restroom and now I'm leaving and back up out of my face!"....I left there disgusted but aware that as long as we have people like this in gymnastics, American Gymnastics will suffer ESPECIALLY on the men's side. A TERRIBLE representation of gymnastics and it's elitist and arrogant and borderline racist. If I had a child, I would be VERY VERY cautious because the coaches there appear to be independent contractors and it's just a matter of time before injuries occur! Newhope Gymnastics is NOWHERE near as clean NOR spacious BUT their coaching staff FAR AND AWAY SURPASS ANY COACH THERE! They actually teach technique there and not play favorites based on class, color and yes, gender. *****RESPONSE TO THREATS FROM OWNER DAVE FROM SCATS GYMANSTICS***** See THIS is what. Expected. I NEVER encountered a "grandfather and grandchild" as you put it. I didn't speak to ANYONE BUT the front desk AND that elderly lady who was a coach so you really SHOULD get your facts straight...."Erratic behavior?" How so, I observed, asked a question and, used the restroom and then left. See folks THIS is what I mean by gaslighting and like I said: you would be MUCH better off going to Newhope Gymnastics Center, they are WAY more welcoming and their SUMMER CAMPS for children is ran MUCH MUCH better than ANYTHING at Scat Gymnastics. Do you have ANY proof that I "demanded" that they hold an ADULT class? No because that was NOT the case. You really shouldn't make threats because YOUR coaching staff is not up to par. All of this stuff is made up and it seems as if you're upset because of the terrible reviews that you've been getting regarding your staffs' attitudes. Yes, there was a LACK of diversity in your gym. On top of that, there was GASLIGHTING. If you people didn't have adult gymnastics, why didn't she just say that over the phone...? I had NEVER been to your facility so she could've just said that and I wouldn't have bothered coming in. I have read your reviews on YELP and let me tell you, the complaints center around (1) your staffs' TOTAL lack of supervision and (2) the pervading ATTITUDES of the staff. I could really care less IF you all don't have adult gymnastics like Newhope. Like I said, they are FAR and AWAY better at dealing with people in general. Regarding racial dealings, yes, your gym DOES NOT have any TRUE diversity and yes, so long as there is lack of diversity, American Gymnastics WILL face issues . I TOTALLY stand by that and it's one of the reasons as to why I didn't truly go there with that intent. Your gym is in need of supervision and structure....I was there MERELY to practice while my coach was out of town. NOTHING more as I don't think that the coaches there are good for anything LONG term....I don't understand about the THREATENING manner by calling Newhope though and it's in POOR taste and it shows a lack of truly addressing issues brought to you. Intoxicated? While looking to train? LOL Mentally unwell? Something is SERIOUSLY wrong with you people. I WON'T be returning and THANK GOODNESS. I would LOVE to see the video footage of me acting drunk! Nice try.
