It's not just one bad day--his attitude has been the same on multiple visits, and I've also noticed him treating other customers the same way. It's disappointing because it's such a unique shop with so much character, but customer service really affects the experience. Terrible place for a passport picture. The lady was very nice but not helpful at all. I walked in…read moreand told the clerk I need to get a passport photo. The clerk directed to me to stand in front of the white background and with no warning began taking my photo. My hair was down covering my ears at this point and I know you must show your ears in passport photos, and neck above. I stopped her so I can brush my hair back.The photo was taken chest up. When I saw the picture from the camera, I advice her that the picture needs to be neck or shoulder up because it would be too far back. She said"no problem, I can crop it and it will be fine," and since I liked the picture anyway, I went along with it. She printed the photo, saw the photo, did some trimming, and put it in an envelope for me. I should've check the photo on my end before I left but I was running to the passport agency. When I got there, I found out the picture was blurry and basically I was not able to use the photo for my passport. The rest of my experience, you can imagine. No moral and values from staff at CJ Magazine. If you're trying to make a quick buck, that is not the way. Consumers will be willing to spend money in desperate situations but that is not the time to take advantage and screw people over. Update: I did get a new photo from another nearby deli and was able to get my passport the same day.

Yeah, this is the kind of place where that happens all the time. What appears to be a basic convenience store is anything but. They have more magazines than any place I've ever been. It's nice to have around, for those random issues of random magazines that someone posted about on Facebook that you must buy. I have no doubt you'll find it here.

They had news bins all around the NYC area on street corners, but now exists only as an online website, but have continued to win news coverage awards. Over the years they featured groundbreaking articles and many talented writers and editors. You can view the archives on its site along with some recent content. It's just not the same to me as I used to enjoy reading the print edition over a coffee at my local diner or coffee house. It was a good read to learn about the arts, culture, music, dance, film, and theater reviews happening in the NYC area.

They have a good website where you can order from and ship for free in the continental US. if you love reading and are a magazine junkie this is a must visit.

Since that time there have been ongoing issues with magazine delivery delayed or arriving 1 month late, (only after I prod the distributor). I understand that this is an international magazine. Magazine Cafe provided a complimentary upgrade from Sea Copy to Air Copy, but that did not hasten delivery. I expect more rapid delivery of this expensive magazine. Perhaps another distributor provides better service.

I tried to contact them, but none of the phone numbers work, and no one responds to the emails. In order to manage subscription, the confirmation email says "log in to you account," but there is no where anywhere on their site to log on. An none of the phone numbers listed for this business work, so you basically have to block them on your credit card to stop the subscription from auto-renewing.
