I may add, if you go during the summer, you MUST wear sun protection and bring lots of water, the heat is no joke. The water is really cold which is refreshing on a hot summer day. The staff is very friendly and informative, also very helpful!! My tent blew away during a little windy moment and they helped me bring it back while also providing tips to prevent it from happening again. In the past, we had to get there before the park opened to secure a spot and once capacity was met they didn't allow anyone to enter. This was tough since there were a couple times we didn't make it on time and had to go elsewhere. Now, things have changed, which is a lot more convenient. They only allow the people that have reserved online go in from 7am-11:30am. If you DO NOT have reservations, you will NOT be allowed in before 11:30. At 11:30 they will only allow you in if they haven't reached capacity and it's first come first serve. If you did RSVP and make it after 11:30am, you risk losing your spot since general people will be allowed in at that time.

It is literally right at the base of the Davis dam along the Colorado river about 10 minutes from Casino drive. We spent almost 2 hours here letting them play on this playground. There is a walking trail that goes around the entire park as well as picnic tables with shade. We mostly stayed in the playground area which had modern, clean and safe equipment for my kids. The restrooms were typical public restrooms but they were open and usable. There was also an area with cool painted rocks that people have left behind. It is extraordinarily dry and lacking in vegetation. There are some unnatural looking palm trees on people's lawns and a few golf courses that are, I can only imagine, laboriously maintained to prevent the grass from drying. The area's dryness is heightened by the fact that the grand Colorado River flows through it. You can see the deep blue waters from most of the city but your feet are generally treading on Mars-like landscape that appears to have never sipped rain. Behind that backdrop of Lake Havasu City and the surrounding area is SARA Park. Someone smart decided to turn a large swath of public land near the city into a recreation dream. The extensive trail system of varying difficulty level is ideally suited for hiking and mountain biking. It was on those trails that I realized that deserts make the best mountain biking trails. There are no trees to remove; instead, the designer can cut the trail along the most fun routes with the best views. Among the many recreational opportunities available at SARA Park, I frequented the archery range as much as the hiking trails. Wednesdays and weekends before noon are open to the public. There's a normal range and a trail that has targets of varying ranges and heights. I regularly saw the same people at the range and they were all very friendly.
