Tonight I went to an event at the Paisley Spree, as much as I was looking forward to seeing James Grant I didn't expect it to be this awesome. The venue totally earned an OMG! Tonight's gig was held within a stunning Spiegeltent, which apparently means tent of mirrors. This tent came all the way from Belguim....beautiful, I was in awe of the lights, mirrors, fabrics, ornate seating, carpentry but the acoustics blew me away....they were phenomenal and better than most music venues.
James Grant was his usual entertaining self, supported by Chris Thomson and RSNO string quartet. Like chocolate for the ears it was languid and satisfying. It was a seated gig and the Spiegeltent allowed a scattering of table and chairs, the layout enhancing a cosmopolitan feel to the event.
The venue was supported by a local wine bar, Saporito...I loved that you were served quickly. Don't you just hate having to waste time at the bar, missing some of the gig. The staff were so lovely we went onto this bar after the gig and the cocktails were fab.
I honestly haven't enjoyed a gig more.....if you ever get the chance to go see a gig in a Spiegeltent, go you won't be disappointed!! read more
