Really good, authentic curry house just by the ice arena in the Hockley area of Nottingham city…read morecentre. It's not haute cuisine by any means and feels more like a casual eatery inside, however the food more than makes up for that. Really tasty and authentic style curries (although they are happy to make up a tikka masala if you want it!) matched with really good prices make this a great tip for eating out on a budget. They also have a really well thought out vegetarian and vegan menu. Our bill for 6 people with 4 large beers, 2 large soft drinks, 6 curries, 4 naans, 3 rice and a mix grill platter was £87. Excellent value!

I love this place. I've brought friends and family here a number of times. They all comment on…read morethe quality of the food. It doesn't look like a high class restaurant by any measure but who cares about image. If you crave excellent food, rich flavours and bargain prices this is the place to go. Since moving up from London I've been looking all over the place for a good tandoori restaurant. I can now stop looking. The highlight has to be the lamb chops. They come on a sizzle plate straight off the grill. The taste and texture is unbeatable. They rival even the top restaurants like Tayyabs and Lahore. Another favourite is the lamb punjabi curry. The naan breads are light and crisp. The brown rice looks boring but it has hidden depths of flavour that make it a satisfying accompaniment. Very friendly people and so hard working. They never stop. Well done guys.

Mogal E Azam - The appetizers were SO on point.

I would never recommend this place to anyone. As it shows Indian cuisine but no where near it. Not…read morethe quality expected at all. Butter chicken was extremely sweet despi the ordering guy said he would get it hot. and the pilua rice tasted nothing but tumeric. And the biriyani the worst with chickpeas in it not anywhere close to the "hyderbadi biriyani" this place demands you to order £26 per person and not going to take order if it doesnt fit . Not taking our appetite into consideration. The staff told us in a rude way about the restraunts rules of ordering the quantity even though we werent hungry. But we are sorry that they couldnt get what they wanted even if they blackmailed us to order more per person and that we cannot order less. If ur going to this place dont consider as an indian restaurant. I dont think its fair for give so much hype to this place when u dont serve quality food. There are much better places to visit. And they lie to us on the review that we get free food and drinks. Which is not true we paid almost £113. For low quality food. Definitely not worth it.

Seemingly staffed by men only they gave the ladies the menus first and then brought their meals first which is all well and good. They then brought over roses for the ladies and I wasn't terribly comfortable with this. The staff were quite jokey/banter which loses it a 2nd star which is a real shame as the food itself was very nice and tasty.

Noor Jahan - The menu is fairly large

Are you a group of students looking for a cheap meal at the end of a long day and night of…read moredrinking? Or perhaps you are more interested in quantity than quality when it comes to curry. If so, this is the place for you. With a cheap 'meal deal' that includes a starter, main, rice and side dish, this place pulls in the post-pub crowd, especially on a Friday and Saturday night. The presence of curry houses on this stretch of Mansfield Road has greatly diminished in the last few years. Places such as Chand, Himalaya, and Umar-E-Khyam are no more. Even the relatively new Guru closed down a while back. So, we're left with Noor Jahan, which to me is baffling, and only the low prices can explain this. I have given this place several chances, mainly due to the fact that I enjoy Mansfield Road as a drinking area, and finding myself wanting a curry but not wishing to start a trek to another part of town to get one. As i've said, it's cheap. It's redeeming features end there for me. The chicken in the main courses always seems tough, as if it has been cooked twice. The sauces have a slightly odd flavour, something I can't put my finger on. It also seems that most main courses are based on the same sauce, with only small variations to differentiate them. Mansfield Road desperately needs a reasonably priced late-night curry house serving quality food, as Noor Jahan does not fulfil the brief, at least as far as the quality food element is concerned. The only other curry house on this stretch that I know of is called Deva, which I have not visited, but which I have been told some iffy things about in the past. Still, next time i'm in that neck of the woods and can't be bothered to travel for my post-booze curry, I think i'd take my chances at Deva rather than give Noor Jahan another go. I give this place 2 stars...one for the cheapness and quantity of the food, and one for the fact that the service isn't usually too bad. Oh, and the tarka dhal is pretty good, but it doesn't say much about a restaurant when a lentil side dish is the tastiest thing they have to offer. To reiterate what I said at the start though, if you are on a tight budget and / or aren't really fussy about your curry and just need a lot of food to soak up the booze at the end of the night, this could be the place for you...you will not leave hungry, as long as you like the food enough to be able to eat it all.
