I went in to order as I was already in Ampthill they took my order straight away and were really friendly and chatty. My order came out in a quick 10mins and I took it straight home. I had chicken tikka masala, bombay aloo and naan bread, it was amazing. They have a large selection of foods on their menu, from the mild to insanely spicy. Their kebabs are also fantastic, as is their naan. If you're in need of mild go for the korma dishes, the others tend to get progressively spicy. Service is quick and friendly. Unfortunately they don't do deliveries, so you have to pick up in a neighborhood that isn't all that conducive to driving. They do cater for large parties and have a rather large eat in section. The food is consistently excellent and there is an opulent feel to the decor. I particularly like the relaxed ambience. Fast food is not for me. I am quite old now despite my remarkably youthful appearance. There is too much speed in modern life for my liking. The Rose of India experience is like stepping back to a previous age of elegance. It is one of the best indian restaurants in Essex I have eaten at with efficient and friendly staff. The food is excellent with some interesting new dishes and plenty of traditional curries too. There are also plenty of options for vegetarians. The music is very nice and also the takeaways are cheaper than most restaurants in chelmsford as they give 30% discount on collection. They do not have a car park which is a bit of a pain but there are several car parks within walking distance
