Coming in from continental Europe on business, I was checking Qype for recommendations to dine out. I ended up with a bunch of colleagues trying to find the place as I didn't get it immediately that the joint is located on the second floor INSIDE The Gate, which is actually a cinema-multiplex with some stuff (diners, etc.) around.
After getting some grief from my colleagues that we couldn't find it immediately, we ended up seated in the cube. On the first glance I'd categorize as fancy. The service is attentive and friendly, which I didn't expect, as I had read a few bad ratings (nice surprise after all).
The menu is diversified and each entry is described (especially The Specials), so that somebody who's not familiar with Indian food, is still able to understand, what s/he orders. We had the mixed starters to, well as the name says it, start with. Even though there are some interestingly looking things on that platter, there is not one thing that tasted bad (side note: the samosas, whether lamb or vegetable were my personal favourites). After the starters everybody went his/her own way in the menu so that we were able to grade a pretty broad part of the menu (Karhai Gosht, Lamb Rogan Josh, Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken Jalfreezi, Steamed Roller Chicken, Indian Railway Lamb Curry). At first, I thought I would have to order a second portion as they look small. The clue is they're actually not!
We had put everything in the middle so that everybody can try a bit of everything. The stuff marked as so hot on the menu, that it may burn you to hell directly is spicy, but still delicious. The explosion of flavours on your tongue OMG! Excellent!
All in all the only thing I personally didn't like, which is not due to their way of preparing it, but rather the mix of ingredients in general, is the Peshwari Naan. Everything else, and especially the lamb, can be recommended here!
