There are three different coves and each area is very small so if you want to find a spot head there early. There isn't that much sand and the water floor is covered with pebbles so for those with sensitive feet, remember to bring along water shoes. To reach the coves you have to drive a few minutes past the regular Lazzerretto beach and park on the side of the road. It is hard to tell where the entrance down to the coves are, but along the left-side you will see a sandier opening in a midst of trees. There is a rocky path down and you will eventually see the coves, only a 3 minute walk down. If you don't see anything, you've gone the wrong way!

There is as most beaches around Alghero sand to lay down and be dry in the sun. It gets deep a bit faster as other beaches but it's also better for snorkeling as most the other. There is a little snack place to buy gelato, pasta and other stuff, and one can rent a sun chair (?). One star less because it seems more crowded than other beaches but I don't see why?

This beach has been declared unclean and unsafe for swimming. Many tourists find it conveniently located across from their hotels and you will still see people in the water, but please be warned! You can sunbathe, but the waters are being tested as people are getting sick with the rota virus. The stretch of beach is usually covered in algae that collects from the water (this is where Alghero got its name)! The sand is usually always wet. It's still nice to take a walk along the beach in the mornings or take a nice lunch and have a picnic. A great place to watch the sunsets in the summer months!

This is a great family beach with sand to play with and some rocks/pebbles in the water (the best…read moreplaces to look for fish)! There is very little cellular coverage in this particular area, if you need some wifi, walk up to the bar for signal. There are two parking entrances to the beach... Enter in the second entrance when driving from Alghero, then walk all the way left for the clearer waters. Remember to bring coins for the parking machine!

Hotel Punta Negra is a really beautiful hotel located in Fertilia, a quiet town about 10 minutes…read moreoutside of Alghero. The hotel has expansive grounds covered in native flora. The common areas are gorgeous including the dining room, the outdoor patio, and the pools. The views from the patio and pools are breathtaking. They have two pools including a saltwater infinity pool. They even have their own small private beach too. The beach isn't as impressive as the local beaches within a short drive but it's a nice option if you don't feel like driving someplace. Each room has a balcony, some of which overlook the ocean. Our room was super clean, included a mini fridge, and the bed was really comfy. Maids came in daily to do morning cleanings as well as turn down service. They have free parking and free breakfast. The breakfast buffet was great with an assortment of delicious pastries and breads plus eggs and cooked prosciutto for us Americans. The bar is open throughout the day and you can order a cocktail to enjoy on the patio where they'll give you some free snacks or you can take it in a plastic cup to enjoy poolside. A couple things I'd change about the hotel: - Provide free water! It'd be so lovely to see water offered for free in the mini fridge in the room, at the bar, or even in a water cooler at the front desk. The staff recommended not drinking from the tap water so it seemed crazy to have to pay for water everyday. I know this is probably customary for Italy but it would've been a really nice touch. - The one time we got dinner at the hotel (because it was downpouring outside) the service was extremely slow and disjointed. The food was mediocre and not worth the wait. - During breakfast, there is one communal coffee machine. It made pretty good coffee including Americanos, cappuccinos, etc. but since there was just one, there was always a line and it sometimes malfunctioned from overuse. - There is no kids area or kids pool so if you're trying to relax by the pool, you may have to deal with screaming children. Overall, I'd probably stay here again because it had great amenities, was clean, and the staff was always really nice. However, I'd love to see some of the minor details improved upon to further elevate the stay.

It is pretty spacious and right across from the Port of Alghero walking towards the old city center. There is plenty of shade with all the pretty trees and benches to sit on to get a break from the summer heat. We've brough along our own toys and balls, this helps to pass some time on those not so nice days where you want to skip the beach, but you have little ones who don't want to be couped up inside.
