Worked with Marc and had a terrible experience. Unprofessional, very poor communication, and I've been waiting almost two weeks for a simple change of plan (I moved out of the area and need new coverage). He's also always late on our arranged calls, flaked on one of them altogether. Can't seem to get any of my contact info correct either, keeps emailing my wife all my info and now has the wrong zip code. What a waste of time. read more

We had a great experience working with Marc Sandknop from SPF Insurance Services. He was patient, answered all our questions and provided options for our medical and dental insurance needs. I'm recently retired, but not at the age for Medicare - we feel really good about the choices we made through SPF for our family. read more

I retired last year, so for the first time was now stepping into purchasing health insurance from the market for my family. Working with SPF Insurance / Tim was fantastic. Tim listened to our situation, laid out the best options, answered all of our questions to help us choose between options, and he was super at making sure everything went well in our submission. It was a great experience. Tim was recommended to us by a friend, and it was a very good recommendation. (as an aside, we previously had spoken to one other broker/service and was given similar options, but then just told to pick with no bedside manner to really explain the differences. So SPF/Tim certainly differentiated themselves well.) read more

Tim certainly earned my trust and confidence while researching my Medicare health insurance. His detailed knowledge of the market and experience proved highly valuable. I recommend Tim and SPL Insurance. read more

Navigating the health insurance market can be a very intimidating process for someone who isn't familiar with the subject and terminology. Luckily I found Tim at SPF insurance to help me navigate the insurance market and find the right plan for me and my wife. Tim's expertise and clear dialect give him an unparalleled ability to easily explain the subtle nuances and variations within each insurance plan's terminology. Thank you Tim for making the process of finding health insurance so quick and painless. read more

Awful experience. These people, mostly Tim, do not return calls in a timely manner, don't know their market very well, and are big talkers without saying much. I knew more about the health insurance offerings in my area than Tim did, and he kept saying he'd call back after doing research, wouldn't call back, and heck, I'd already done the research! These people are really just commission-hungry posers. I recommend you find another, different firm of independent health insurance brokers. read more

Recently, I had a very serious situation regarding a gap in our family health insurance. At the time, my wife and I were dealing with serious health issues with a close member of our family so psychologically, having a gap in our own coverage at that moment was the last thing that we needed to deal with. Fortunately, Tim Thompson at SPF really came to the rescue for us. Tim was tremendously supportive and helpful, expertly navigating the sometimes maddening maze of health insurance. Tim was available at a moment's notice, kept in almost constant touch, and responded quickly whenever I needed to speak with him. Tim was able to successfully fill that critical gap in our insurance with lightning speed, and he found the perfect plan to suit our needs. Tim Thompson is the kind of professional who always puts the needs of his clients first. It is without hesitation that I give him my highest recommendation. Thanks again Tim! read more

Confused about the new health insurance rules, laws and regulations? Not sure what Covered California is about? Then call Tim Thompson! This man knows the ins and outs of health insurance. Last year I was overwhelmed by the Affordable Care Act deadline and was canceled by my then current plan. Tim was patient with me to help me figure it out. In my delay I unfortunately went with another broker recommended to me through a finance class I was taking. I NEVER should have strayed from Tim's guidance! This new enrollment period I knew I had to reach out to Tim. His knowledge of how Covered California works was leaps and bounds over the previous broker. He was able to help me find the best plan and put it into terms that I understood. Not to mention I am saving $130 a month! Call Tim. He will make sure he is doing what's best for you, and not his wallet! read more

Tim is top notch there is nobody who knows insurance as well as he. Tim will always put your interests ahead of his own. Call him and see for yourself. Not only was the process quick and enjoyable, Tim has mastered the skill of in-depth analysis of the options, and was very thorough in his communications. I needed to find insurance as I went 1099 from W2. I found Tim and read the reviews. I called him and got info over the phone and then he sent me an email quote. The next day we did everything over the phone and I have insurance! The prices for insurance are fixed, so SPF has the same prices, but what you get is service! I actually started with Costco thinking I could get a better deal (false) and after two attempts to email the Costco rep, I never got a reply. GO WITH SPF! read more

Just had 1st conversation with Tim. I've spoken with 3 other agents and Tim is by far the clearest communicator and most knowledgeable. One of the other agents would not answer questions by email, and another was reluctant to do so. One of them made some conflicting statements, and also some ambiguous statements. The 3rd agent was very good, but only represented one insurance carrier. After asking Tim a bunch of questions, I finally had the confidence to just tell him my parameters and ask for his recommendation. Five minutes later, I had made my choice of carrier and plan. read more

After untold hours of trying to navigate Covered California on my own, I came across Tim's website. It contained the most concise and informative explanations of coverage that I found anywhere. I then spoke with Tim. He took a time consuming and frustrating process, and made it painless on my end. He is now the agent for my wife and I as well as two of our kids who are on their own. I would highly recommend him for any of your medical insurance needs. By the way, I live 700 miles north of him. If you need a good agent to deal with the medical maze, call him regardless of where you live. He can and will help. ...I'm now updating this a year in: Tim is simply on the ball with the changes happening in the exchange. Before I even have a chance to start asking questions about the upcoming re-enrollment period, I'm getting useful emailed alerts and answers from Him. So glad I don't have to spend countless hours educating myself on the shifting insurance environment. Just let SPF help, you won't regret it. read more

I recently left the business world to start my own business and for the first time in my life had to seek out my own health insurance. Luckily, I was referred to SPF and specifically Tim Thompson. His website makes finding providers extremely easy, but more importantly, Tim takes the time to break down the pros and cons of each option and does so in a language the average idiot can understand. Had I picked on my own plan without help, no doubt I would've picked the cheapest. I still bought a "cheap" policy but felt much better about my choice after spending some time speaking with Tim. read more

My current healthcare provider is leaving the state at the end of the year and I was informed I had to get new insurance. The prospect of researching and selecting a new provider was about as high on my list as a root canal! I got lucky and found Tim. He made it painless. I asked him a thousand questions and he patiently and thoroughly led me through a layman's perspective of what's happening now and what will be happening in the next year with healthcare reform. And then, he found a very similar policy at a savings of $300 a month!! I've already referred a number of my friends and colleagues to Tim. read more

Being self-employed for the past 15 years, we have worked with several insurance agents/brokers/companies to obtain health insurance. However, with the changing landscape of the insurance, we were running into issues finding anyone that could help explain how it would impact us personally. Since speaking with Tim, we now have a clear understanding of how the process works, which plans are the most advantageous as well as all the potential pitfalls in selecting the incorrect plan/company. His professionalism, knowledge, patience & willingness to help are unmatched. I have since passed his contact info along to several others & will not hesitate to do so again the future.
