We came here to check out the pricing on a chipper that we may need to rent to clear off brush on the farm near the fence line. We even checked to see whether they'd be interested in sourcing glacial stones from our farm. Folks were very friendly. The daily rate for the 12" chipper was $299 which is competitive. Called yesterday. Inquiring about River Rock. Spoke to Tracy, regarding the river rock we were looking for. I asked how much a quarter ton of river rock would be. Tracy advised that one ton is $52. I again advise. Tracy, that all I needed was a quarter ton, do you sell it in a quarter ton? Tracy advised? Advised yes we do. One ton is $52. Could I have the price of a quarter ton with tax? One ton is $52. Okay so I just decided to move on with my questions. What time Saturday are you open? We're not open on Saturdays. Okay, well I'm going to be coming by tomorrow to pick up a quarter ton of river rock. What are your hours on Tuesday? I was advised that they're open at 7:30 in the morning until 5:00 p.m. I said great. Thank you for your help. I will see you tomorrow. At no time through this entire conversation. Did she bother to say we are out of River Rock? We won't have any for at least a week if not longer. So in a day and age where everybody is trying to conserve their gasoline as much as possible. Here we are hooking up the trailer and driving 10 miles to town just to be told they don't have any river rock. They won't have any for at least a week or more. Thank you so much for Tracy for doing such a half way job. We have moved on. We will be buying our river rock for half as much of what Spencer's charges for a quarter ton from another local business. My husband and I were doing some errands with my elderly mom's car. The car battery went dead on a cold Friday night. Zac of Spencer's, a stranger to us, offered to not only jump the car but gave us tips on where to get the battery replaced the same night. (I only knew he worked there because he was wearing his work jacket!) When we pulled into the battery shop, he came by to help the staff there install it! I know this review is not about landscaping, but it is a testament to the type of people you hire. Zac rocks! read more

I would not recommend this company. I could go on about the issues I had with them but to summarize: I hired them to install a sun deck and new liner in an existing inground pool. A two day project that they assured me would be done in the spring took 5 days and wasn't done until almost August. They made assurances (in writing) to get me to sign a contract with them, with no intention of following through with their timeline. They didn't do their due diligence to properly measure for the project, and ended up making alterations to the bottom of my pool that I did not approve. The water they had trucked in to fill the pool (which I did not approve) was green and required hundreds of dollars in chemicals to get balanced, which took weeks. Then they added charges to the final invoice that were not agreed upon. Check my BBB complaint, we ultimately had to go through arbitration in order to get my final invoice amended and reimbursement for my additional expenses. Go with a reputable company, this isn't one. read more

The receptionist seemed annoyed that I was even calling to ask about their services and that I would like to meet with someone for a quote? I called Spencer Landscaping in Greenville Ohio and gave them a "3 week notice" to cancel my landscaping service. they ended up coming anyways and charging $900.00 for some little work their guys did .. I will NEVER have them do any other work for me again.. They totally took advantage of a senior citizen. They shouldn't have charged anything, since I had canceled 3 weeks earlier.. read more
