This most favorable review is long overdue. After enduring years of "more conservative" approaches, Dr. Spencer treated me from 2003-2008. During that time, I saw him almost monthly for a spine injury. I am writing this review, now, to thank him for his excellent work throughout that time, which continues to serve me extremely well. Without getting into much detail, I was the primary caregiver for my mother who was terminally ill with cancer while I was working full-time. Although complicated, Dr. Spencer did all that he could to accommodate my very challenging situation. While I was in extreme pain and heading toward severe complications from my injuries, he helped me to postpone my surgery for as long as medically possible (nearly 3 years). Without getting into specifics, Dr. Spencer's commitment to both medical ethics and the patient's general well-being, beyond purely orthopedic or pain management issues is most laudable. If anyone was ripe for addiction to pain killers, it was me - but that never happened. He also did all that he could to protect me from metabolic damage resulting from excessive steroid injection therapies - and that was long before the dangers were well understood. Ultimately, he performed a surgery on my lumbar spine to correct extensive damage cause by both multiple traumatic injuries and much time elapsed. Although the risks were high, in my view, Dr. Spencer did excellent work and greatly restored possibility in my life. Fifteen years later, his good work holds up. I cannot thank him enough. Karla, too. She was always amazing and even accompanied Dr. Spencer on his rounds when he came to see me after my surgery! It's been many years since I've seen them, but I want them to know that I still love and appreciate them both very deeply. They both deserve to know it. read more
