We found this place not far from Maison Carree, and were lucky to be sat right when they opened without a reservation because the place quickly filled up and other patrons were being turned away. We got a negroni and an aperol spritz to start; both were great. The antipasti course of olives had some spicy crackers that we loved and a small bowl of cured meats in olive oil that we had never tried before. Certain pieces were a bit too chewy for us. We got a burrata salad, which was spectacularly delicious (fresh tomatoes, greens, a nice dressing all on top of an interesting flatbread). We were just a bit disappointed that the burrata was served cold and that there wasn't any avocado (unless we misread the menu???). The prosciutto and mushroom pizza we got was near perfect--so damn fresh and good. Our daughter had a chicken breast with some fries and was happy. Dessert was a scoop of strawberry for the little one and tiramisu for us. The latter was wonderful. Service was mostly great, but started to fall apart as the place got busy. Still, we had a nice time at La Locanda and left happy.

My wife and I had decent salads. The beer selection, albeit small, was good, and the house wine, also good. But, La Piazza dropped the ball on our dinner rolls, and pasta entrees (pesto spaghetti, and curry spaghetti). The dinner rolls were cold, must have come right out of the refrigerator, and the entrees were, in our opinion, well below average in quality. I've had better Italian food in the rural Midwest. La Piazza is not quite ready for prime time. Their staff had a great attitude, though, and we wish them the best of luck.
