Occasionally I hired a trainer, sometimes through a gym, sometimes not, but I never really felt any huge results. I started a walking 5 years ago and that has been good. Changing my diet to low carb and walking regularly, helped me lose 40+ pounds over the last year. Now I needed to build muscle, get toned, and work on balance and posture. My upper body is weak, I lost tone (and my butt) with this last weight loss. As I age I notice small losses in balance. My posture has been an issue most of my life. I did research. The first trainer I hired, who was less expensive, gave me cookie cutter exercises and didn't push me. Maybe he thought I was too old. Then I hired Nicky. She is not easy on me, but goes at my pace. If I can't do something, she modifies it so I can be successful and still get the benefits. I am amazed at every workout with her depth of knowledge. Working together we have uncovered some issues I didn't know I had and we are working to correct them. When I started having a weird issue, we both researched it and she suggested I see a PT to confirm what we both suspect. I like that she researched the issue and also that she knows her limitations. She says, " I'm not a PT. They study for years. But I know training. " I'm feeling stronger in just a few months. My posture has visibly improved. I didn't expect to see a difference so quickly. She takes measurements and checks for muscle increase periodically. It's not required, but I like to see data. I'm pretty knowledgeable about nutrition, but she made some suggestions. I lost a few more pounds, even though that is not my primary goal at this point. I just want to be stronger and more toned. I want to live healthy into old age and I believe having a strong body is absolutely essential. If you want results and not just go through the motions, give Nicky a shout. If you are willing to work and want to work with someone knowledgeable, she's a great choice. Her workouts are tailored to each client. She will make sure you are safe and provide encouragement.

Nicky took the time to go over what my current diet was and how I could lose weight with some pretty simple meal adjustments she help set up a nutrition program through an app and we programmed in a sample day for me to start with. She was able to explain where my current meal routine was way too high in certain macros and why shifting and excluding items would help me to lose weight and be more healthy. Ultimately I would love to get some resistance training done with her but her schedule was full. I would highly recommend her for nutritional advice and the reasoning behind making the right choices!

I tried popular home workout plans and bought a membership to a big box gym, but it wasn't long before I dreaded my workouts due to lack of direction and minimal progress. I can confidently say that I have exceeded any fitness expectations that I previously set for myself, all because of the trainers at 181 Fitness, who are extremely knowledgeable and truly CARE about each client. He absolutely loves what he does, and it permeates through each training session. I reached out to Kai to get help with chronic lower back pain, and quickly realized Kai was a perfect fit. I always do my due diligence and look for the right service professional. The formula I have found to identify the best service professionals is to find somebody who passionate about what they do and who is obsessed with their craft. Well that is Kai in a nutshell.
