I didn't try the food here during this visit. Everything else was fine though. I will say that the guy pressure washing the front sidewalk really needed to do a better job paying attention to customers walking out to know when to stop that darn thing! He didn't stop and I stopped as I was walking out to wait for him - then he stopped, I walked past and he immediately started it again thus getting spray on me. There's no need for that.

The store itself offers a couple of self-checkout lines, attendant lines (2), made-to-order kiosk (3), self serve coffee and drink stations, lottery machines, mobile pick-up, a small section of convenience items, pre-made food and pastries, as well as tobacco and alcohol. Compared to other locations, I felt this store was very small and offered a lot less than other Wawa's I have shopped at (it could be that we are located in a smaller area). My one complaint is the pre-made heated food was burnt, my husband could not finish eating his sausage croissant, we are understanding- it's first day and your still trying to adjust QC and the like. There is parking directly in front of the store and as well as on the left of the store (if facing it). There are several gas pumps for those needing fuel. Overall, it was a nice Wawa, I just wish the store itself was a little bigger and they had a wider selection of items. I'm still very happy that Wawa has come to down, I only wish I would have gotten there a little early to get some swag (the shirt). The goose was very friendly and engaging:)

Lots of people coming and going who don't seem to understand patience or keeping to one side, but I did manage to get a spot and pop in. This was initially just an Amazon pickup but of course it turned into some incremental shopping as Mrs. K. spotted some baked goods we had to have and I got some cheese to nibble on. Checkout was easy and we were back in the car quickly to continue our journey, Amazon package in hand. [Review 1226 of 2026 - 1590 in Virginia - 26405 overall]

I went with their whole sub deal where you get a whole sub for $8.49 which came to $9.16 after tax. On my sub I got turkey, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, Mayo and salt and pepper on whole wheat bread. This thing was MASSIVE. The picture I posted is only half of the sub. I had been wanting turkey all day and the taste did not disappoint. Ate half then had the other half the next day. For a sweet treat I went for one of their donuts. I got the chocolate cake donut with a thick chocolate glaze. Or maybe it was a chocolate sauce? Not sure. So the donut itself was a bit dry. Needed some milk which I didn't have but oh well. The chocolate topping was delicious. I ate the dry bottom part first so that I could taste more of the topping which worked out beautifully. Because the donut was kinda dense, I decided to only eat half cause I didn't wanna feel so heavy. Half was enough tho and I ate the other half the next day. I would 100% order more subs from there. They're delicious, HUGE and you get what you pay for. The donut.....I'd probably try a different flavor.

Around the next bend is Shady's. Shady's is a standard convenience store/gas station. It's a little drab on the inside, but the people who work here are pretty awesome and that brightens it up. The a/c functions (I think), the beverage coolers are well stocked with every type of liquid refreshment, there are plenty of snacks, the gas pumps work, and the stray cats outside begging for food are really good at it. The day I stopped in, Shady's air conditioning wasn't working and the employee was sitting outside in the shade; but compared with the inside of my car, I could have been at the north pole. The cold water numbed my frustration, but then so did the friendly employee who apologized for the lack of air conditioning and then spent time commiserating. I don't know though, she only might have been pretending empathy once I started talking about the umbrella drinks in the middle of the highway.
