The aisles are spread out, which I really like. Fuel prices are competitive with the other five or so stations in the immediate area, meaning they have the lowest price. Access in and out is extra easy as they are located at the only traffic light on Hwy 31. If turning left to head north, use the light, otherwise if turning right for I-65 access, use the other entrance/exit and let the light hold up the traffic to allow you to pull out.

Since they had stacks on stacks of them, I take it back to swap it out for one that, ya know, actually lights. The kid behind the counter tried to make me feel like a complete dumba$$. He takes the lighter and after trying a few times gets it to work, and just looks at me like I'm asking him for a kidney or something. I explain that it may work once in a while but most the time it doesn't. He proceeds to show me how to "work" the lighter "correctly" as if it's rocket science then has the stones to try to get me to buy butane. This goes on for minutes while I'm late to work; finally I just say, "so you're not gonna let me exchange it for a working one then??" His response, "no, no it work!!" No, it don't work, buddy. And ya just lost a customer over a $10 lighter.

There is usually a deal on candy bars running, and there are always 4-5-6 dollar meal deals. I got a little gas in my car and a $6 meal that included the angus,bacon,cheddar and jack burger, fries, and a polar pop. Generally speaking I hold gas station hot food to a fairly low standard. The Tornadoes were often pretty good, but the sandwiches anywhere were kind of meh. This was a GOOD burger! Of course the patty had that preserved taste to it, but that's just what to expect. The kicker was the hit from the cheddar jack cheese. That was SO GOOD! Everyone that works there is SO helpful and very nice. The only notes I have that are a bit more critical are that the donuts are a bit too sweet, and they've stopped carrying macadamia cookies. I'm dying for this place to expand, but they may be locked in. Keep an eye on the price tags. For a while, some candy bars were 3.79, but the shelf tag read 3.29. This place still gets 5 stars. A lot of businesses just look like crap because they are so busy. This place is as busy as any, and they always keep it looking good.

Now I have been seeing this going on more than once and she is not the only one that is being racist.

That being said, it had been a hot minute since I'd had to go through so many steps (enter zip, flip the nozzle up, etc.) to get gas. The pumps were a few years behind, but well worth the price. As I topped off, I couldn't help but notice a senior in front of me having difficulty, so I walked over and asked if I could assist him. He said his card wasn't being read, when in fact, he was having a hard time reading the digital lettering that danced by requesting his zip code. I'm glad I was there to help, because it didn't seem as if anyone inside noticed and the lettering was tricky to read as bright as it was. Nevertheless, nothing could kill my joy on this beautiful sunny Spring day, and having done a good deed made it seem even better!

But, if you are in a hurry, here are some tips to help you: 1. You can use a debit card, but if do, answer "NO" when it asks if it is a debit card. It can only process cards that the pump thinks are credit cards. It will save you a trip inside to the attendant who will tell you the same thing. 2. Some of the pumps don't give receipts, so you can use your phone to get an image of how much you used instead of having to go inside and having the attendant print you a receipt. 3. When using a card at the pump, it may take a long time to "authorize" since they don't have an internet connection other than via satellite, so on cloudy days, it may take nearly a minute (long enough for the attendant to see me standing there waiting and walk out to the pump to explain it.) Everything works, and the gas is just as good as any other, but you are dealing with an old station and the quirks that go with it. I will give credit to the attendant in the small shop (the sell tobacco, candy, ice, and gas for home grilling) for having a good attitude and being helpful to make the transaction less frustrating. More Than Just A Gas Station!…read more The price of their fuel is generally ten cents a gallon cheaper than stations in Mooresville. They have eight pumps for cars, SUVs and pickup trucks. They also have a separate area with a high canopy for semi trucks that has three pumps. Inside is the usual convenience store plus a "Village" US Post Office, a Subway (the dining area is currently closed) and Chester's Chicken. Chester's fried chicken is pretty decent chicken and very popular with the area's local residents. They also have live bait and refill propane tanks.

When you are on the go and have no time to stop for fast food even through a drive-thru, as I was today running errands then heading out for Plainfield for an eye doctor appointment, their already cooked individual pizzas sitting under the warmers were ideal. The pizza was pretty good considering it was made in advance. Better than a hot dog in my opinion. Restroom was out of order today, but that looked very temporary since is was a hand printed sign on the door. Oh yeah, they had the new Dr. Pepper Zero in the refrigerated drink cooler. I like the new zero much better than the old diet.
