Review for The Intoxicated: Is it 2 AM? Are you in the Highlands? Are you tipsy and walking home or to a nearby friend's place? Well... this review is for you. (Calm down sober people. I'll get to what you want to know in a minute). You've left one of the many bars in this area of the Highlands. You're fine but you can easily feel a headache coming on that will most likely kill you tomorrow. You can't drive anywhere. Nothing else is open. What you need is a chilled and delicious Gatorade (G2 preferably for the calorie conscious). This convenient store is your lifesaver(if you want these too, they're also available in the candy section). Like any convenient store, you can pick up a variety of snacks... even Krispy Kreme donuts! They also have a bathroom in case that donut isn't staying down. You're already thinking ahead with hydrating on your walk before bed. Why not think further ahead and pick up some donuts or packaged pastries for breakfast when you wake up? We all know you're going to feel awful in the morning. If you're of the belief that the best medicine for a hangover is by drinking more, you can do that too. They have a beer cooler here if that's your mission. Review for The Sober: This is a decent convenient store. You can buy gas here but I wouldn't encourage it. At this intersection, it tends to be more expensive. That might change if the proposed Thorntons goes in at Baxter/Broadway. Came here the other day to fuel up and take advantage of buying out of state cigarettes before heading back to Chicago. It's a nice location but parking is really tight here. There's a few shady characters here but the staff at least know how to handle their guests. Tons of gas pumps. Inside is clean, usually has great prices and deals going. If you bank with Chase, they've got an ATM with your bank's name on it. This gas station is perfectly suited for someone in the Highlands trying to get on I-64 and needing to make a gas pit stop along the way. It must also be perfectly suited, location-wise, to the entire city of Louisville because there's hardly ever a time where Speedway is empty. This is not your creepy "is it abandoned or not?" gas station. But you all know this, since clearly you all go to this gas station too. Speedway on Bardstown Road in the Highlands is a convenient place for a gasoline fill up. It is a busy location so the gas does not sit for a long time in their tanks which is a good thing. You can also go inside to pick up a beverage or snack. Speedway has a pretty good rewards program for customers. read more

3 stars because it's walking distance. Apart from being heckled for change and encountering agitated employees speedway isn't all horrible. After all it's the neighborhood gas station. Still haven't got any good deals or cashed in with the speedy reward cards. Now when I can id rather take the trip to Walgreens but when it's after hours and it's time to pick up another case then speedway is just across the street. My Yelp bar is constantly asking what it is that keeps me coming back to this place. Convenience - question answered. This is the busiest Speedway in Kentucky because it sits right by a number of bars and restaurants so you get a ton of characters in and out of this establishment every day of the week. I usually only come here when I have run out of options or it's early in the morning. The employees are really what saves this place from being lower rated because those men and women see a lot of crazy and deal with it, day in, day out but still are at least fake friendly to you. The people who hang out in front of it generally hit you up for a smoke, money or anything in between which is annoying to me because I'm just trying to get my cigs, beer, pizza or crappy gas station rollers and get home at that point. You also run into a lot of drunk people, so it can at least be entertaining as well. I can't hate the employees, but I certainly loathe coming here when I need some late night snacks or when I get home after work to realize I didn't buy beer earlier. read more

This is a perfectly fine gas station to stop at to fill-up your gas tank or grab some snacks. It's very close to my apartment, so I go here often. My only complaints are that the parking lot/gas pump areas are always congested and the prices are a bit higher than you'll see in other areas of Louisville; however, both of these issues do not seem to be something the gas station can change, but rather stem from the fact that it's located in the middle of the Highlands. If you're in the Highlands and need gas, this Speedway is your only option since Bader's closed, so I'd definitely recommend it. read more

Came in Friday before work to reload a money card for a planned Amazon purchase later. I had just left the grocery store and bought an energy drink which had a paid sticker over the barcode and I still had the receipt. I walked into Speedway and jumped right in line as the 4th person. The so-called manager starts saying I stole my drink (as I wasn't there to shop, only reload a card) so there was no time to even go to the drink section and be 4th in line. I showed him my receipt and he still kept being a prejudice prick, so I told him what was really on my mind. It sucks because I usually don't have a problem there. He should be more timid with black customers especially durin6this time of protests and blacks being singled out just because of the color of their skin. This sickens me. Employees are not overly nice but adequate. You do have to battle past the bums that always hang out in front. Fuel prices are a little high but that's normal for the area. If it's Friday or Saturday be prepared to stand in line. read more

I have been to other speedways and this one is the worse. They are constantly a mess, unorganized, never have what I want in stock, the employee's don't care and have bad customer service, and the managers are no better. There are always homeless people out front begging for change. There is this one guy who works the night shift who is a total creep and annoying. read more
