Ohhh and the doors were locked a few minutes early... They are open until midnight 5 nights a week - but close at 10pm on Friday and Saturday. Might be worth making a note in case you also find yourself in need of gas or milk at 10pm on a Friday or Saturday -

While I was shocked that they didn't appear to have a big gross hotdog wheel (golf and beer do weird things to people), I wasn't butthurt about it. Probably better for everyone. I always thought that the screen that flashed at the check out had something to do with points. But this time I asked. I was informed that it's just "asking for a donation" and when I think about how many times I saw this and I wasn't asked I was shocked. I have no problem giving something as a donation if it is for a good cause. Well me alone is at least $25 per month that they would get because I gas up both cars. How many other people are not having a chance to donate that might if given the opportunity?

It wasn't a long time, but in an empty store with two employees visible, I felt ignored. Then I thought, maybe they think I'm not ready, due to where I was standing. So, I walked up to the register and watched Jon stare intensely at the beverage dispensers from the kitchen area. He came over and assisted me, hurriedly, and then rushed off. He seemed annoyed when I asked if I could have a receipt because he had to come back to do so. Because I'm nosey, I stuck around to see what the issue was over by the drink dispensers. I watched him walk up to what I believe was the coffee machine and watched as he grabbed a cup from underneath the dispenser and brought it up to his lips. Turns out that he was just jonesing for a hit of caffeine!

I personally am a big fan of their sweet tea. I want to echo what another reviewer said about the value of a Kroger card. We get free drinks all the time using our Kroger card. And I believe you can accumulate points for fuel discounts. They also sell some Kroger brand products such as cans and two liters of pop. They also have a large selection of sandwiches, wraps, and salads. In the same cooler they stock a fairly large selection of protein shakes and other healthy options. The employees are hit and miss. Some are great and some are not. That's the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. Otherwise this place is great.

Like I mentioned, it is a gas station, one of the pumps had the pumping mechanism pulled off, I'm not sure if that was an accident or otherwise. But their gas prices are generally pretty competitive, especially with another gas station across the street. The village pantry had lots to choose from and was displayed very well, as I mentioned, the person behind the counter was really friendly and took care of things quickly. They have a large drink station as well as a very large coffee and pastry area. There is also a refrigerated area in addition to all the racks with chips and candy. All kinds of things a traveler would need. They sell lottery tickets and have a nice big ice machine for buying bags of ice as well.

Who the heck would have thought that I'd find a good burrito at a gas station in Indiana? Certainly…read morenot me. But another good place to get burritos is at an ice cream shop on 86th Street, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I'm starting to think that Indiana hides all the good burritos in unassuming places. Maybe I should start looking for burritos the next time I'm at the shoe store or the dentist. In any case, Ricker's has good burritos. One of the best parts about ordering a burrito at Ricker's is that you don't have to talk to anyone to order. There is an electronic screen that you use to punch in your order. Then you pick it up at the counter. You can customize your burrito to your liking. If you want a good burrito, I suggest ordering the following: refried beans, Mexican rice, cheese. That's it. If you want some meat in there, add carnitas. Don't go and ruin a perfectly fine burrito by adding sour cream and lettuce. If you're going to do that you might as well just order something else. This is how strongly I feel about this particular combination of burrito ingredients. Another reason to like Ricker's is because they sell cold beer. This means you could get your burrito to go, grab a six pack of cold Coronas, and have a nice little Mexican feast at home.

But I was intrigued, so figured I'd check it out. Now I had no idea what Leo's offered until I went in. Think gas station/convenience store offering locally made food items, freshly prepared bowls/drinks and kolaches. Second guilty admission: never had a kolache. The nice woman behind the counter helped me choose (they were buy one, get one free)! So I chose one egg and cheese, and one spinach and cheese. They were warmed in an oven while I went to grab a coffee and use the restroom, which was very clean and well-stocked. Pro tip: if you want a latte or another specialty coffee, order at the counter. If you want to make your own, go to the coffee bar. It's less expensive, plus they have a variety of sweeteners, Torani syrups, and assorted creamers (including plant-based). The cash register employee let me know when they were ready to go, and my grand total was less than $6. I picked up a few hot sauce packets from the condiment bar and sat down in the dining area to eat. The kolache itself is essentially a small, light sandwich. The bread was soft, with a hint of sweetness. The egg and cheese combo was perfect for my light lunch! I had a bite of the spinach and cheese kolache before I left, which was even more flavorful and cheesy! Can't wait to have it tomorrow morning. The cafe also features freshly prepared smoothies, coffee drinks, salad/potato/pasta bowls as well as soups, with a rotating soup of the day. There's truly something for every taste. I was really pleased with this fun gas station mash up, and will absolutely drop in again when in the area!
