I can't feel my hands when I pump gas, but I do it, but I do it…read more.. Now that I've unsuccessfully ripped off The Weeknd (though I doubt his lack of facial feeling is not due to the winter snow like mine is), let me state the obvious. Pumping gas in the cold, sucks. You want to wear your gloves so your hands don't turn colors, but you don't want to risk tainting your beloved piggy gloves. Okay, maybe that last part is just me. Usually I like to use my gas points at Tops to fuel up. But I was headed home from work when I noticed my tank was looking too empty for comfort, and Mobil was conveniently right there, so why not? Well, a few reasons. Turns out they aren't as conveniently placed as my eyes led me to believe. This may be to my lack of courage when it comes to driving, but trying to whip out of the lot back into traffic takes careful timing being so close to the traffic light. Maybe it was the chunk of ice I had neglected to scrape off my windshield giving me a blind spot, but I've tried exiting during the summer too, and I always feel like someone is going to barrel down the street at me to make the green light. Getting in can be a hassle too, because people are addicted to Tim Hortons and the line pokes out sometimes. But hey, if you need gas, and are prepared to pay a higher price (I may be spoiled by those Tops gas points) then yeah, it gets the job done. They even offer a car wash. Which from what I've heard isn't great, but if you're trapped in an apartment like I am, it beats giving your car the ol' spit and scrub. I slid my card into the slot and it asked the usual questions like debit/credit and for my zip code. My numbing hands worked the pump as I dreamt of the days where manned stations were a thing. I was pulled out of my reverie by voices. The pumps have video screens that tell you the weather (forecast: cold) and show you GSTV, which I misheard as JesusTv. Don't worry, they're not selling you God, just everything else, because, and yes I looked this up on their website and quote "consumers spend +1.7x more following a fuel transaction." So go ahead and allow yourself to head inside to buy that box of Timbits, because you can always blame the manipulative gas pump. Which surprisingly today actually gave me a receipt, as I've had issues with this in the past, so hooray for minor miracles and full gas tanks! They've got gas and get you where you've got to go, but it's just middle of the road, despite its street corner location.

Wish they were because some mornings I could use the convenience. They have a Tim Hortons attached to the station which is also hit or miss on being open.

While in the store for something else, I looked over the fast food offereings as it was getting on supper time and a mental inventory of my fridge suggested I bring something home. I saw boxed slices of pizza in the warming tray and asked what kind of pizza they have. The very pleasant cashier said only pepperoni and supreme. I said I'll have a supreme. She asked if I wanted it cooked... "takes 3 minutes." I don't have a microwave so I said sure. Imagine my surprise when, 3 minutes later, she handed me a large pizza box... full of pizza. I'd thought she was talking those litte single slice triangle boxes. $9.99. In my kitchen, I opened the box and was happily surprised to see a REAL and entire pizza, 8 slices of great looking pizza. Honest, I never knew. Very sturdy box, too, and enough parchment paper to keep the box grease-free. Important for recycling. Very good pizza at a very good price. Often when I get pizza from out, I get thin crust, but for a no-choice crust, this was excellent. Not too thick, and nicely chewy. This 7-Eleven delivers, too. Sign promises delivery in 30 minutes or less.

I always thought that "fast track" was when you go on a date, and things escalate quickly. But what…read moredo I know. This is an awesome gas station in one of the lowest income neighbourhoods in the WNY region. Poor neighbourhoods generally have to pay more for gas (I have no idea why), but that is no longer the case around Bailey and the 33, because Fast Trac has - at the very least - mid-range prices, and often is cheaper than most competitors. Also, gas stations in poor areas are sometimes run down and overcrowded and claustrophobic. This one is the opposite. It looks brand new, it has more pumps than Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1977, and is spacious and almost - gasp - luxurious. I'm not sure what the whole "loyalty card" thing is about, but they take it to the extent that they advertise their loyalty gas price as prominently as the regular price, which I think is misleading. Hence the 4 stars instead of 5. It's sometimes hard to find a gas station on the East Side, and this place really ups the standards and raises the bar. People in poor neighbourhoods are just as deserving of clean, safe, well-lit, spacious gas stations as anyone else. Thanks Fast-Trac. Now just learn how to spell "track" and we'll be all good.

The prices at this station are usually always a little, to a good amount lower than anywhere else around. Last week I paid $4.19 a gallon, where most places are still over $4.30. Driving by today, gas is now down to $4.12. There are about eight pumps here, in a no-frills rocky lot. It is generally easy in-and-out, being at the light on the corner of Cleveland and Beach. I'm not totally sure if this gas station is still owned by Cleve-Hill or not. It is not on their website, but the name on the sign hasn't changed since they moved their repair shop down the road. So still look for the Cleve-Hill sign if you are coming here to top off or fill up. It is still very clearly marked Cleve-Hill, whether it actually be affiliated with them anymore or not, who knows.
