Best laundromat near the CBD, by far. Machines were all in working order and clean. The PayPal…read morepayment system worked flawlessly -- go to the link posted on the wall (using their free wifi, if you like), specify the machine you want to use, the amount of time (for dryers), and then you're transferred to PayPal to complete the transaction. As soon as you pay, the machine is active and ready to run. The wifi worked well, and there are outlets for your laptop next to a desk at the window. There's also a big table for folding laundry, and a clever gadget to help you fold your sheets. You don't have to guess about dryer heats -- a sign above the dryers tells you the temperature of each setting. Washers are $4 each. Dryers are $1 for 8 minutes. There's one large washer -- I forget the price. Discounted prices are available certain hours, which are advertised on the notice board. The only problem I had was quickly resolved. I had tried to use the vending machine to buy detergent, but the coin slot was jammed. I was able to pay with a bill and get coins as change, but the coins I put in got stuck. I phoned the two help numbers -- the landline went to voicemail and I left a message, but the mobile number was answered right away. He said he'd come by in 15 minutes to look into the problem, and he did. Shortly thereafter, a lady returned my call to the landline. When the owner arrived, he cleared the jam (caused by a sticky 20 cent coin in the slot), gave me my lost coins back, and offered me anything I'd like from the machine. The laundromat is in a small shopping center with its own small parking lot -- a few spaces are available for laundromat customers. I never had trouble getting a spot. It's near enough to the Gabba that I was able to walk down and watch a few overs of a Sheffield Shield match while waiting for my clothes to dry. The owner told me that they hope to add a location near the CBD, if they can find a spot with reasonable rent. Spring Hill is a possibility. I hope they do, as there is a dearth of laundry options in the CBD other than overpriced hotel laundry service.

What do people look for in a Laundromat? Ideally it should be close to where you keep your laundry…read moreright? Either way, I was fortunate enough to live just down the road from this particular Laundromat during a time in which I didn't have a washing machine. It costs $3 to wash a load and you have to pay in all dollar coins. Fortunately the corner store adjacent to the Laundromat will happily exchange coins for cash. I have an inclination that the people who own this corner store also own the Laundromat but this is in no way confirmed. Just something I thought about as I watched my wool cycle spin around and around. This Laundromat is open till 9 pm daily. I was living near a Laundromat that was open 24/7. I began to wonder who would be washing laundry at 3 in the morning? This is a curiosity I have not yet explored. The dryer runs on a fee for $1 per 10 minutes. Seems reasonable enough. Also the dryers are huge, I suspect you could even fit two loads into a single dryer. But this in turn may take it twice as long to dry and cost you twice as much. But for the adventurous laundry wenches out there I'd give this a whirl, just for a laugh. Laundromats aren't really exciting places but the important thing is you leave with clean, dry clothes. This was indeed achieved during every one of my trips here. P.s. they business wants to be called Indooroopilly Laundromat but it is located in Taringa. Don't ask.

I have this ridiculously amazing full-length tiger poncho that's become my staple winter wear. I…read morewanted to get it cleaned to prep for this winter, and not fully understanding dry cleaning, I figured if I got the poncho dry cleaned (instead of throwing it in the machine myself), it'd still retain its lovely fluffiness. So I googled E Laundry. The website had this deal, three items for $25.95, so I was like - awesome! I'll throw in another couple of items to get fancypants drycleaned. I phoned up, told them I was a first-time customer, mentioned the three-piece deal, was super excited. I even got my items picked up by the valet service. Long story short, my card ended up getting charged almost three times as much as I was expecting, because the poncho didn't count as "standard dry cleaning" - in fact, they chucked it through the wash like I would have done anyway, and the dirt mark I was hoping would have been removed by professionals still remained. The website has a little asterisk next to "standard dry cleaning" and yet I've been through the site with a fine-tooth comb and can't find the fine print for that asterisk. I sent off a sadface email, got no reply for a week, sent another email, and finally engaged in some dialogue. I wasn't really happy at all with the response but they tried their best to stop me whinging by offering to clean the garment again, free of charge. Sure, that's really nice of them, but I couldn't notice a difference the second time around.

E laundry is truly a new take on the laundry and dry cleaning services of old. The have expanded…read moretheir services to every extent of cleaning clothes. We don't always have time to do laundry and some times it can pile up, other times its something delicate like a suit that we would rather give to the pros to clean than risk ruining it. In my case it was time to take the suit in. I haven't heard about them before but it was the closest to my house and to be honest i did like the way the outside looked with the big light bulbs around the sign and the black and white exterior. The staff were helpful and friendly and and asked if i wanted anything special or if the suit needed altering which is not normally done by the dry cleaners. It was a pretty standard order of just dry cleaning the suit and it cost just over 20 dollars which i thought was not too bad. They also offered to deliver it when it was ready but i opted out because its walking distance from my house. As well as altering clothes they also do fixes and embroidery. Along with all this they clean pet products like pet beds and blankets too. I also quite like the little cafe that is attached to E Laundry and is a good place to wait if you are early picking up your clothes.
