The shiny Eleiko plates and my junk :D not afraid to bring it allllll
    Jenny N.

I've been dating this gym for almost two months now and I really enjoy it. This gym is meant for people who want more than just lifting and their social impact is just beginning. Check out their website and their social media pages. They hold seminars with the BEST athletes and big shots. The best thing about them is they are pure non-profit, which you can see by the environment when you walk in the door. You get people who truly want to lift and love it. What you're getting - a strong environment with almost all you need. Strong and knowledgeable coaches, strong and still learning peers so you won't feel alone/unmotivated , and one hell of a training facility. There are a couple different packages available to get while here, so be sure to check the website and come try them out. Barbell only - includes wonderful coaching program they follow, access to alllllll the new and shiny plates and access to the wonderful coach who decides to be there that day :D All in all- this is a gym that is taken care of and expects you to keep it just as nice. This ain't yo home so don't be expecting to go to someone else's home to make a mess. Do that at your own house ;) I'm nervous to post this as this is such a gem, I don't want to share any space with more people D: As a powerlifter, I am notorious to bring all my stuff and take up space but with this gym, there is so much space for all of it that I don't feel bad about it. Come hungry and make those gains fam!

I was a member of this gym for about 8 months before I moved away in 2017. This gym has excellent coaching, very nice equipment, clean bathrooms and showers. I only did the Olympic Weightlifting Training here. The coaches are very invested in each athlete and are willing to do so much so that each client will reach their goals and full potential. They invite top notch coaches from around the country and one of their coaches is even a previous Olympian. They're constantly having a bunch of free seminars for members. The only thing I didn't like was that their hours for WL training and open gym didn't really match up with my work schedule at certain times because I work in a hospital and have odd hours on different days of the week. But that was my specific issue. Otherwise we'll work the cost of the membership! I would still be going here if I didn't move. It's a great community of friendship and strength.

    Plenty of chalk!

This gym has very nice gym equipment, pristine as you can get! I've been coming here for a few years now. I've never been so jacked in my life. Great, friendly, and funny staff makes the experience that much better. The best parts is their high tech bathrooms and crazy amount of chalk! Come through! There's a great and welcoming community waiting for you!

With the coaches help, I've lost over 40 pounds of fat in the span of a year and gained muscle mass. Urban Fitness emphasizes using free weights, focusing on form and technique before lifting heavy. You'll find that while you're able to squat heavy on machines, poor posture and bad habits from not bracing your core does little in the real world. The style of training can be transferred to every day chores from carrying bags of groceries up the stairs in one trip, to lifting your fridge while remodeling your kitchen. I never realized how little I could lift on my own without machines involved. The workouts are class based and has a coach demonstrating each set and correcting form. As intimidating as a class workout sounds, the community and friendship bond you will find in class are unmatched. It's really easy to make friends, especially if you're someone working from home and need a change of pace, this is a good place to go. The people I've met here became my family. We go on snowboarding trips and run spartan races together. It's not CrossFit and all levels are welcomed. The highly trained staff can provide all different levels of workouts whether you're new, looking for a challenge, or injured. There's something for everyone.

Pilates: I love attending the reformer classes, particularly Alba's and Jessica's, but I've attended most if not all of the instructors' classes and they've all been great. The weekend classes do get kind of quick so it's better to book in advance. Gym: Clean, never packed (at least when I go). I always find space to stretch with no issue and have never had to wait for what I need. People put their weights back. There are spray bottles and cloths to wipe what you use after. The bathrooms are clean, and the red light sauna is a treat (honestly my deciding factor for adding the membership lol). I've yet to use the cold plunge or the showers. You get $10 off when you have more than 1 membership. I had a billing issue in the beginning and they were very responsive and helpful. All together I pay $164/mo for both. The lack of a parking lot is a mild inconvenience, but street parking is hardly an issue with all the residential streets with free parking around Park. Great gym!!

From day one, they've been professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in my progress. Every workout is well-structured, challenging, and tailored to my goals and fitness level. They push me just the right amount while always making sure my form is correct and that I'm training safely. If you go to the Crunch Gym in Alameda and then the Bladium -- you'll have a new appreciation for space and room to breathe. The remodeled men's locker room is cool -- most importantly -- it is clean and does not stink. I only use the facility for cardio and free weights. The machines and free weights are probably 30+ years old (seriously), but they work and I like the old school steel plates. The entire facility has been under construction and it looks like they're going to make the facility like something on par with the NFL Combine's fitness facilities. I learned during the pandemic that new weights and weight machines cost a fortune, but I'm hopeful they will update the equipment. Most importantly, I hope they extend the hours of operation on the weekends. Indeed, their hours of operation should be 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. (minimum) every day. Oh, there is always free/available parking and the gym manager is extremely responsive/professional. Bottom line: this gym has the space and location to become the best fitness facility on the East Bay -- but they must extend their hours and spend a small fortune on new weights/weight machines. The images I have included with this review are dated, but they give you a good idea of the size of this place and show the degree to which they are re-doing the place!

KO1 Roundhouse uses a combination of Muay Thai techniques, cardio, circuit, weights, and strength training. You get a little bit of everything. You get a personal trainer to guide you through each exercise and they will also hold pads for you for an extra workout. You can finish the training in 33 minutes or even stay longer.
