However, it had been a month since I had a haircut, and I won't be in Chicago for another month. My hair was getting a little bulky, so I decided to try getting it cleaned up locally. I mean, how hard is it to clean up a cut? Thin it out a little, shorten up the bangs, take a tad off the back ... I SAID A TAD. Two inches is not a tad. Thank you for the man bob. Crystal, my first Lima stylist since the F/X Salon debacle, felt my hair had a mullet-like appearance, so she took the back up way too far. She cut my sides uneven and, when asked to thin out my sideburns, shortened them above my earlobes. The entire cut was a disaster. Again, I'll give the stylist the benefit of the doubt. She did ask if I wanted a little off the back, and I did ask her to trim my sideburns. She just did it to the extreme. I won't go back to Illy Swank. And if you need me, I'll be nursing a bruised self-image.

We got there within 5 minutes or so, and my dude's cut was done with fairly minimal wait time. We sat down preparing for this wait and the place was packed. We literally waited less than ten minutes. Great stuff. It was her first pedi, and she loved the massage chair and the whole shebang. I got a great full set but I was informed when I got there and after he'd applied the tips, that there would be a $10 up charge for the shape I wanted. I've never paid extra for pointed nails...and it would have been good to know before anything. Don't advertise your price as 30 when it'll cost 40 depending on shape. I'd go back. But I'm a little irked.

Very disappointed. I couldn't get into my usual place for a trim and I was in desperate need of a…read morecut. I called and they were able to get me in right away. I always get the same cut- a layered trim angled around my face. I will say, it's not a bad cut in itself, but everything else was disappointing. The decor is that of an angsty pre-teen. There are colors thrown together, a modge-podge of decor and carpet in desperate need of an update. It is not a calm, relaxing, or professional looking establishment once you go past the entrance. The stylist began by washing my hair which I have a lot of. It was by far the worst wash I have ever experienced. It was weak and rather uncomfortable. As I said, the cut wasn't bad, she did exactly what I wanted, however when she started the angling of my hair around my face I realized how terribly dull her scissors were as they ripped an snagged at the hair rather than slicing. After she cut, she wanted to blow dry my hair to make sure the cut worked well with my hair's texture and touch it up. She walked over to another station to grab a brush and then proceeded to rip a previous client's hair out of the brush before using it on my hair. Once she began she got my hair caught it the back of the blow dryer, had to rip it out from the dryer, and gave no apology. The stylist was very sweet and pleasant, but clearly not trained or well experienced. The cut cost me $28. Honestly, you'd probably find better quality from a salon out of a supermarket. For the salon's sake I hope this is an isolated incident or at least contained to that particular stylist, however, I have a feeling it isn't.

I was never explained what was happening so I didn't know what to do. I was very confused throughout the whole process up until it was time to pick out what colors I wanted for my acrylics (which he cut extremely short by the way) I had what color(s) I wanted and he told me he couldn't do them, so I picked out something else and he said he also couldn't do them then proceded to recommend me an apple green and hot pink ombre ( my choices in colors had to match my dress because I am in the wedding) and I explained to him why I couldn't. Then he preceded to take in another customer making me wait 20 min so I could get my nails finished. I tried to ask him if the color I picked out was navy blue ( I couldn't see it very well because it was in a bottle with a very small label on what the color was but under like a shade name) he told me yes so we continued. turns out the color was purple and I'm about to be walking down the aisle with a navy dress and purple nails. I am not satisfied with my first time getting them done and I will not get them done there again.
