The glasses have repeatedly broken and gotten loose. Each time, they fixed it for free! I was expecting to pay upwards of €100 to fix my horribly mangled set of frames, but all free! Donal O Malley, upstairs, is my optician, and does an excellent job. He has more than 30 years optician experience, and has seen every issue before. While I could be given a stronger prescription, and while other opticians have suggested I need a stronger one, he tells me that my eyes will just degrade faster if I do. So a small bit of discomfort now for much bigger benefits later, boom.

I returned in a couple of weeks to say that I just could not see the computer properly and I had stated that this was my main reason for needing the glasses. The owner dismissed me and said I just needed to get used to them. A year later, I am almost a thousand euro down,the expensive frames broke and the glasses are useless to me.Never again !

Okay, I'm getting carried away here, they really do have some really nice frames but they're all top drawer stuff, most of them are titanium, and all of them are on the pricey side. The staff couldn't be nicer, even when a scruff like me, obviously not wearing glasses, walks in for a poke about I was greeted cordially. I have never had issues with my eyes but this weekend i started to suffer a lot of pain in both my…read moreeyes, so much so that i have been using eye drops, pain killers and even resorted to ice packs on both eyes, to try and alleviate the pain. I made an appointment on Monday to be seen at 16.40 the following Thursday. I mulled this over and thougyt three days is a long time but i can wait. I arrived there today at 16.40 only to be told i didnt have a appointment as it is for next week. There is no way i booked for Thursday week. Eventhough i am in a lot of pain, they offer no help of solution. I have now wasted 3 days where i could have arraigned a different optician to see me. So now there are no opticians open for me to try and get an appointment, i will have to book somewhere else a possibility spend another weekend in pain. I have never seen such a lack of empathy from anyone. This is singularly the worst experience i have ever experienced, and i have gotten my arm caught caught in a 40 tonne machine, broke two bones in one arm, and watched as my son fought meningitis. Such a lack of caring i though was impossible from someone in the a field of practice that is supposed help people. I have never given a review before, be it good or bad and i intend never to do again but this business (and i use that term lightly) is beyond reprehensible and if you, your family, friends or your worst enemy mentions they are going to them, i would just give them red hot knitting needles and tell them to insert them in their own eyes as it would be a dam sight better that stepping one foot across the threshold of that place.

While there I decided that I may as well get my eyesight checked as it has been about a year since my last check up. They were able to fit me in and took my glasses off to check them before giving me an eye test which they then did quite throughly. Health of my eyes all good no drastic change in my vision so I did not need new glasses. I asked about the operation you can have to correct your sight but I was told that my eye sight was not really bad enough. I do like it when I am advised that I dont have to spend money. I also asked about getting frames from on line - I had noticed the cost of their frames in the shop and I was told there would be a charge of €45 for them doing the fitting. I was very impressed that I was not pushed into buying anything else and all my questions were answered clearly and to my satisfaction. While there I thought I may as well get my hearing checked as I do on occasion get told by family members that they think that I am deaf. Had head phones put over my ears to block any sound and all I had to do was press a button when I heard any sound from a machine. Simple. Tested well for my hearing and asked the girl to confirm to said mother I was not deaf. Bless her she told my mother I had 'selective hearing'. ...she is probably quite correct.

Hugely impressed with the care and attention that I got from the guys, the seemingly endless array of tests and the attention to detail was great. After wifey had approved my frames choice I got measured up (again, lots of checking, double checking and measuring) and 4 days later I collected the specs... I dealt with 4 staff members in all and each one was genuinely friendly and helpful (or if not genuinely, then they were great actors, and that's all that matters!) . recommended!

They had only two price ranges - €89 and €129 for two glasses. I was quite shocked when presented my prescription from spec savers in a digital format (took a picture of prescription in case I lose the paper one) and it was rejected saying it is required by law to show the original prescription. Seriously, in this age we still need paper? What about saving trees etc? Just kidding about trees. It is easier to but a gun in some countries than a pair of specs in this shop. Selection was quite small. Not coming back. Going to Omni's Spec Savers instead.

I found that bit a little funny, I'd rather have to pay if I dont order anything from them following the test (like the crowd on Talbot street do, something saver) at least with them you could order a pair and in a year's time you can ring them to get the prescription FOC and choose where to order other frames from. But anyway I am pleased with the service they gave me. I brought my own frames which was no bother at all, cost the same as if you did order the frame with them but I'm not mad about all these rectangle monomania and their choice is a little limited since it is a small shop. Got them ready 2 days later.

There is something quite charming about this old school style opticians. The people that work there are very warm and friendly. It differed from my specsavers experience in that It didn't have that cattle market feel. The lady Kathy who tested my eyes was lovely and the gent that helped me pick my glasses too. I highly recommend going to this shop. Very good service and it felt that the people working there genuinely cared.

Pleasant doctor - unpleasant receptionist…read more The doctor was grand, but the receptionist had a bit of an attitude problem. I arrived at 20 minutes to closing time to get a driver license eye exam. There was no queue and the doctor was available immediately. The exam was 20 Euro. The first thing I noticed was that the receptionist was annoyed that I was there. It wasn't that close to closing time and the eye exam would only take a few minutes. I offered to leave if it was too close to shutting time, but the doctor said nonsense it only takes a few minutes. The receptionist maintained her lemon-sucking expression. The exam was indeed quick. About 10 minutes. I found out I had 20/15 vision and I got my paper stamped for the government. He didn't rush, even though it was close to closing. He checked my eyes, did the chart, checked my side vision, asked the standard form of questions, and was polite and personable. Pros: The doctor seemed able, was very polite, non-rushed, and friendly. Cons: The receptionist was rude. 20 Euros is a bit dear for the service.
