Beware if you use Auto Parts Plus…read more On November 18, 2014, I paid $1775.50 for Auto Parts Plus to replace an engine in my 1995 Geo Prizm with a used engine in good repair. Prior to commencing work on my vehicle, they informed me that they had inspected it and determined which parts would need to be replaced and which could be used from the old engine. Based on their assessment that the vehicle could be repaired to a well running state for the quoted price, I agreed for them to complete the work. My expectation was that the engine would work flawlessly and they assured me that it was running perfectly at the time of payment payment in full. However, I was not able to even leave Aberdeen before major problems arose requiring the auto to be towed back to their shop. The problems were extreme engine vibration, cutting out to the point of stalling and the activation of the check engine light during operation. Other problems may have been obscured by these problems. To date none of these problems have been resolved, though in the roughly four months they had been "working" on the vehicle, it was in their shop most of that time. The vibration continues. The cutting out continues. The check engine light does not come on because it has strangely become non-functional altogether. Additionally they now claim that new "serious" problems, unrelated to the engine, have appeared. On March 1, 2014 I notified them in writing that I expected the work to be fully completed by March 15th, 2015. I had not so much as received a phone call when instead of fixing my car they, took the loaner without notice while I was giving the presentation at the Revealing the Inner Inmate art exhibit, leaving me stranded in Aberdeen. They had my car towed to an impound lot which, in addition to the towing charge, is now charging me $30 per day. This will likely happen to you if you use Auto Parts Plus in Aberdeen, SD.

Perhaps it is nostalgia, but it is nice to do business at a place you know you can trust. I often like the look of an older vehicle but have a strong desire to have more modern technology installed. (Don't worry, not the classic oldies, the newer old vehicles. heh) It is great that these folks can help with that! I am also way to old to be suspended upside down under the dash trying to manipulate wires into impossible places. I appreciate them even more as I get older. As a matter of fact, buying a projector for our daughter this week and headed to their site to see if they have what we are looking for now. Did not know they did theater rooms!!

Went in for a free check engine light test, and an employee named Brad came and helped me out. Found out it was a misfire in my #1 cylinder, and he offered to help me take the plug out in the parking lot, and test it in the store. We saw that the gap was far too small on the spark plug, and were unable to even get the gap tool underneath it to adjust it. He went down an aisle, grabbed a pair of needle nose pliers, and opened it up a little bit for me to properly re-gap the spark plug, and we put it back in my pickup. Talk about service. This store is an example of what customer service is supposed to look like. They definitely got a long-term return customer in me.
