I've been lucky enough to help with on site gardening #greenthumb, homeless connect days, donation kits and even fundraising. I've connected with several staff, employees, security, affiliates and those seeking services and toured the facilities at their home base/main location in North Hollywood on Lankershim Blvd. I learn something new every week, and look for ways to be involved as well as encourage others to be involved. Since then, I have been a regular patient of both MEND's dental and medical services. Their dental doctors give me deep-teeth-cleanings every three months - to keep my "pearly whites" healthy and bright! Moreover, their vision doctors give me two comprehensive eye exams, yearly - with a pair of fashionable glasses to match. Although I am 62, MEND's health programs keep me looking, feeling and acting like I am in my mid 40's. My vision is excellent for my age; I've only lost six teeth and my health is above-normal. Moreover, I am proudly showing-off five, glowing dental-implants and am scheduled for one more. I love my visits to MEND. Everyone is robustly friendly and always speak positively, in Spanish or English - like a comfortable family. I can't help from being enamored with MEND's revolving staff and personally miss their fun when they are gone. They are also timely with setting my appointments, making advance courtesy calls, and following-up - even with my trifling concerns. Whenever I have had to wait, they promptly and clearly explain why and give me reasonable alternative dates. MENDS Board-Certified dentists, optometrists, ophthalmologists and opticians are all Five-Star specialists. They are supported by academically superior apprentices that are uniquely trained in their technical fields - with impeccable personal care and social skills. MEND maintains State-of-the-Art equipment and technologically current personnel. The MEND Doctors have Big-Fun in the clinic. You may have to endure some brilliant, esoteric music or videos when you are having your "mug" fixed. Therefore, I cherish my MEND Doctors, who heart-fully call me by name. Several stand out - like Dr. Susan C. Fredericks, Dr. Hale, Dr. Alvarado and Dr. Avocado. Watching and listening to them instruct their apprentices is extremely informative and entertaining - as they meticulously work as a team. They have an information center, resource center, restrooms, showers, garden and offer a lot of opportunities for those facing hardship, poverty, hunger, and homelessness by offering immediate assistance as well as long-term solutions. I recently volunteered her via LA Family Housing partnering up with Hope the Mission/Hope of the Valley for a homeless connect day where they also provided a career and education fair, complimentary hot meals, beverages, hygiene kits, pet food, pet blankets, blankets, towels, clothing, haircuts and lots of great things for everyone including volunteers like myself. Parking can be accessed on Sherman Way or Radford (where Maps will take you) as well as via street parking. It's one of the cleanest and most well kept up centers I've ever come across and the host a ton of events here each month. She confided she once beat a horse within an inch of his life and feels guilty. What would cause someone to be so cruel and angry, and ruthless? I was asked to leave the property by Nina and her assistant because I was honest, that I would find it difficult to volunteer for health and safety concerns because the property is so messy, unkempt, and she blamed the rats for taking things out of the garbage can and spreading trash. Nina is intelligent and I am sure means well, just that she could use a kind ear and some renewed thinking and direction. I just think there are too many problems here and perhaps animal control should be called but I myself have not done this for fear of retaliation I am sorry to admit.

When we came, there was a private event before us but they were able to squeeze us in for an hour trail ride! I'm an experienced equestrian and the facilities here are beautiful and their horses are well loved and taken care of. Our horses were sure footed and steady and easy for my novice boyfriend to ride. The trail itself was amazing in the spring after the rains - there were plenty of water crossings and Hansen Dam was in full bloom! I was so impressed by their horses and their sure footedness with how rocky the ground was at first. We got to trot a little and where there was room, my horse was happy to ride side by side with my boyfriend. These horses are more responsive than your complete dead head average trail horse and I appreciated the ability to get out there on a weekend and see Hansen Dam. I rode at the Hunter/Jumper facility nearby for years and had always wondered what the trails around the area looked like. It was $60 (cash only) which I thought was more than reasonable! I would highly recommend coming in the spring when it's this nice out.

We rode here for a birthday in 2024. I would not say these horses are for beginners - this was not…read morea safe or enjoyable ride. The horse I rode jumped from my leg brushing his belly, so I had to float my legs off his body the entire time. I'm not sure he was well enough to ride that day if his belly was that tender. The other horses did not get along and fought while on the trail. This led to one horse spooking/attacking another and caused my friend to fall. She had difficulty walking, but was asked to get back on the horse despite laying on the floor in pain. After she couldn't get on, we thought the guide would call for help. But we found out later that the guide simply called her coworker and told them she'd be late for her next ride. Are you kidding me? Someone gets hurt and your first thought is your next paycheck? Our friend had to continue on foot since the guide told us we could not get off to help her. I don't think she would've made it all the way. We were lucky to run into fire authorities that gave her a ride. The authorities clarified they were NOT contacted by the guide and they were there for a separate event. We took our friend to the ER ourselves to get a spinal scan which thankfully turned out with bruising only. Afterwards, we were not offered a refund. We get it, horses have bad days and are unpredictable. But there is no excuse for having a guide that is so severely untrained and unempathetic. In a real emergency, you do not want to be caught in the middle of a nowhere with no signal and a "guide" that doesn't even know how to call for help or care about you. She just sounded like she wanted it over with. Really horrified and disappointed by the negligence here.
