Never bought a gun but I've recently developed an interest in them. They have a pretty decent selection of guns and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. I spoke with Ryder McKee who was very knowledgeable and patient with us. He showed us the selection of guns, gave us a brief introduction to basic gun etiquette, and helped us become a bit more familiar with the different roles that these firearms can take on and which better fill those roles. The staff took their time explaining things and made sure that if we were to make a purchase, we would be able to do so with confidence. Honestly, when a brick and mortar establishment competes with all the online options we have today, one of the best way to keep the competitive edge is to make sure your customers can make their decisions knowing they're making the right one. This was by far the worst company and customer service I have ever experienced in the tactical and firearms industry. In February, I went to the store and inquired about a back panel assault pack for a tactical vest. After being informed they had none in stock I was given the option to order one on line and have it delivered. For some odd reason they made me pre pay for the item and shipping to have it delivered in store. And was told by the sales associate it would take about 5-7 days to arrive. After more than 2 weeks. I called the office on 16 February and was told they were still waiting and it would be in, in about 2 days. I waited the two days and drove to the store with receipt in h d. Only to find out it wasn't there and they didn't know when it would be. I informed the salesman I wanted my money back and I would be going home to wait for return of payment. After two hours I was called and told it came in. And as I needed it for a trip I went in. So upon arrival I found out it wasn't actually there but was in route. Jerry. The owner had it. He arrived disgusted and pissed off. Handed me the product and upon opening it found that it was not only the wrong pack. It was the right camo pattern either. I protested and asked if they had the right one in the back. And was told "Sir I don't care what you ordered, I don't deal with that vender anymore. It's not my problem. Try selling it" I would never recommend this company and its business to anyone for any reason. There are several competitors in the near area who are 1000% better. read more

In the interest of brevity, I would say that I agree with other reviewers on a few points: 1. The people at the shop will take whatever time you need to get educated about the products and to determine whether what you think you want is what you need. I spent at least half an hour with each of Ryan on my first visit and Jerry on my second visit. Between the two visits I did my own research and ultimately came to a rational decision as to what to get. 2. I was completely ignorant of ARs when I first walked in. They did not take advantage of that; rather they helped me understand the options, patiently. Clearly, these are guys who can talk ARs to neophytes such as me, or people who have had several tours abroad. 3. I was very pleased with the price/quality ratio of the AR I purchased. It did take about 6 weeks for the item to come in after I ordered/paid for it, but all's well that ends well. I don't attribute the delay to the store and I didn't need the rifle the next day. Other comments: - For a modest fee, there can be included with your AR purchase an orientation with the rifle involving both classroom and live fire at BRA. I've scheduled that course but haven't done it yet. Great expectations. - The other training/practice courses they offer all appear interesting and I will be taking those as well. I've taken several pistol courses over the past two years and am of the view that everyone who owns a firearm should take, at bare minimum, a basic safety/handling course. The more knowledge, the better. - My primary interest in weapons since I got into shooting has been with pistols/revolvers. Most of the pistol selections at SD are of the composite, semi-auto variety. It would be cool if they had a more diverse selection. I think of it as primarily an AR shop. read more

For the record I downloaded this app so that I could leave a review about the SpecDiv Tactical. Last week I called and asked for a quote on some ammo. I was giving a price over the phone and when I went to the store 6 hours later. I was giving another price which was significantly more, like 60 dollars more. Just ordered a couple handguns and had them sent here. I'm a DC resident so limited in what I can legally buy. This is my third time using SpecDive Tactical. This is the second time at their new location. I had a good talk with a retired Marine master gunnery seargent during my first encounter. I'm not a gun nut and I am pretty liberal, but I like guns and that mutual interest and our prior military service made for great conversation and great service. The second time I used them a young kid helped me with my .45-75 rifle that I picked up after 8 months of them storing it due to the pandemic. Great service and again great discussion. This kid knew his stuff and we chatted about single action pistols with another customer who was picking up his recent purchase. I see the negative reviews here and have to question ... This place has been fast and efficient. I've had no issues. I have enjoyed talking with the staff ... I don't think having a gun is cool, it's practical. I have a pair of Walther pistols coming in for my wife and would expect the same great service. If it isn't I'll let y'all know. Bottom line is that these folks are good at what they do and their classes - the most important part of owning a gun, Knowledge / knowing how to shoot - are solid. They didn't serve me tea and cookies so they only get 4 stars. read more

Here's a pro tip. If you go to the concealed carry class on a holiday weekend there's a good chance the class will be small. Maybe just you and a buddy. Maybe just you. This morning I got 4 hours of individual training and coaching from a special warfare veteran. This would normally cost 4 to 10 times as much. Aside from the great value, the training was great, practical, and useful. We covered a wide variety of gear, laws, and situations. I highly recommend this training, and be on the lookout for expanded inventory and services at specdive in the near future. read more

First time I've given 5 stars! Was looking for some bonding time with my two teenage boys without dipping into their college funds. I was first impressed when they called me back after I called and got their voicemail, which I later learned once I walked in that it was due to the employees being engaged with the customers. It looked more like a social gathering than a place of business. I was greeted in a friendly and respectful manner despite the fact that I walked in with teenage boys with piercings and ripped jeans. The owner Jerry fellow Navy veteran took me and my boys under his wing. Taking his time to show us proper handling of weapons and target practice on their super awesome later system. I wasn't expecting much from a laser system but can say that I was highly impressed with the accuracy and realness of it. In hindsight I'm so glad I took them their for their first time instead of a real range. Jerry was able to set the right habits and techniques before bad ones set in. Placed a special order for two spare magazines. Didn't hear anything for a month or so. Called to check and was told his distributor was out and he was checking other sources. Never heard anything back. Called back a month or so later, was told it was coming and they would call when it came in, about a week. Nothing, two weeks later stopped by the store. The store was closed unexpectedly during normal business hours. Called again a few days later and was told, it's here. So I go to the store and he can't find the package. Told him to just mail it to me. Another month or so goes by, I don't see or hear anything. I call the store and they give me the run around saying it's here come pick it up. I go to the store they don't have it. I ask for credit back to my card and he wants the receipt in order to do so, which I have. So finally after 8 months and 5 days, I get my money back for an order I don't think was ever placed. Poor customer service, poor communication, poorly organized, poor experience. read more

Decent experience the first time I bought a gun there. Horrible second visit. I asked if I could get a deal on a holster (ie like 20-30 bucks off) if I purchased a 1911 colt and the owner started threatening me and yelling and chased me out of the store cursing. It was unacceptable as instead of just saying "no we cant't do that" he starts cursing and yelling and kicks me out of the store. I would not recommend this place to anyone as they all are carrying loaded guns and with episodes like that no one should feel safe as if someone has that type of temper from a simple question of receiving a discount imagine what he is capable of doing while holding a loaded gun. read more

My husband and I literally stumbled across SpecDive while shopping at one of the flooring stores next door. Because we have recently moved to a new house which is quite isolated, we thought it might be time to buy our first firearm (both of us have shot many times with friends) Jerry, the owner, was very helpful and patient and not at all pressuring. Because the Glock we both liked was not in stock, we made plans to come back in a couple weeks and pick up the gun in conjunction with taking the basic handgun safety course (10% off the gun is part of the deal). The guys in the shop were also very helpful explaining things like the laws regarding transporting weapons In your vehicle. Clinton, our instructor, was great. Very patient, helpful, and encouraging. Range time and targets were also included. We had a great time and at the end of the 2 hour class, we felt like we were ready, willing, and able to use the weapon if the need ever arises, which of course was our goal. Their prices are so expensive... how can they even compete? It's literally 20% more expensive than ANY of the gun shops the D.C. area. The business owner firmly stated that he was the cheapest in the area... has he even checked or is he just lying to my face? He turned extremely rude when I brought up the pricing. Placed an order with this company on 2 JUL for a WASR10 & Ruger 10/22. Before placing the order I asked if they could hold this item until I arrived in VA late August. I was assured this would be possible for a fee which I gladly accepted, they were willing to waive this at a later time. I chose them specifically for this reason as there were other places that had the same gun available at the time. I also ordered this gun in JUL 16 because they were becoming difficult to get, other stores had them at the time. I followed up on the pickup procedures about 35d after placing the order and was directed on what I needed to do before arriving to pickup the weapon. During my call I was also informed that the item had not arrived and that they did not have an idea when it would arrive. I called last week to see if the weapon was in and was told they needed to research it and would get back to me, no return call. I called the next day and left a message about the status of my items, no return call. I contacted the store via FB and was told they would research it (they finally responded) and would get back to me the next Monday. By 1400 no response was provided so I dropped in person. Upon arriving I was told they were waiting on the item from Century and couldn't guarantee when it would arrive as they were hard to get right now. There was nothing online indicating it was unavailable when I originally placed the order or that I would need to wait on the MFG prior to my follow-up call (my assumption is that it was ordered immediately and would be available in the store after they charged my credit card and that it would arrive within 5 business days as it states in their cart). At the end of the day I was issued a refund but am now stuck trying to locate this weapon when I could have ordered it from another vendor had I known they didn't actually carry the items on hand. Before placing an order with this company you may want to clarify when they are actually going to have the item on hand....their website is misleading. read more

The owner got me a custom made kydex holster with vehicle ram mount for my Glock 19 for less than what most places charge online and... 24 hour turn around time!
