Was referred to SpecDive by another store for gunsmithing work. Had a great conversation with Jerry, the owner, who helped me pick out a new handguard for my Springfield Saint, and quoted me a price and delivery date for the work. As promised, the work was completed on time and on budget, and all components removed from the rifle were given back to me. Friendly help and delivery as promised. I have not yet used them for FFL transfer but plan to do so and hope to upgrade this rating to five stars. Thanks. read more

Charged me $60 to punch out one pin on a 1911 hammer. Seemed like nice people until I got the bill. Will bring my business elsewhere forever. read more

In the interest of brevity, I would say that I agree with other reviewers on a few points: 1. The people at the shop will take whatever time you need to get educated about the products and to determine whether what you think you want is what you need. I spent at least half an hour with each of Ryan on my first visit and Jerry on my second visit. Between the two visits I did my own research and ultimately came to a rational decision as to what to get. 2. I was completely ignorant of ARs when I first walked in. They did not take advantage of that; rather they helped me understand the options, patiently. Clearly, these are guys who can talk ARs to neophytes such as me, or people who have had several tours abroad. 3. I was very pleased with the price/quality ratio of the AR I purchased. It did take about 6 weeks for the item to come in after I ordered/paid for it, but all's well that ends well. I don't attribute the delay to the store and I didn't need the rifle the next day. Other comments: - For a modest fee, there can be included with your AR purchase an orientation with the rifle involving both classroom and live fire at BRA. I've scheduled that course but haven't done it yet. Great expectations. - The other training/practice courses they offer all appear interesting and I will be taking those as well. I've taken several pistol courses over the past two years and am of the view that everyone who owns a firearm should take, at bare minimum, a basic safety/handling course. The more knowledge, the better. - My primary interest in weapons since I got into shooting has been with pistols/revolvers. Most of the pistol selections at SD are of the composite, semi-auto variety. It would be cool if they had a more diverse selection. I think of it as primarily an AR shop. read more

I ordered and paid for a picatinny rail scope mount for my rifle. * This was ordered in store (SPECDIVE Tactical) on 14 February 2017. The salesperson said that it should be in the store by the beginning of March and that they would call me to let me know when it's in and when to bring in my rifle for them to attach the part to. Contact with Merchant: * Without being contacted as of 10 March 2017, I went into the store to inquire. I did not have my sales receipt on my person at the time. I was told by the employee that they had no record of the sale, no record it had been ordered, and no record that the part had been received in the store. The employee took my name and number and said that the owner would be back in the shop on 11 March 2017 and that he would call me to resolve this issue. * On 15 March 2017, I had not been contacted by the owner or anyone else from the store. I called the store and asked to speak with Jerry (the owner). I was told he was not in. I told the employee what the call was in regards to and asked when I should call Jerry back. I was told to call back the following day but my name and number was again taken down for the owner to contact me when he came back into the store. * On 17 March 2017 I went into the store with the sales receipt. The employee that I had been dealing with and the owner, Jerry talked to me. Jerry, said that the part was on its way and would be in either tonight (17 March) or tomorrow (18 March). I asked him how it was ordered and on its way if there was no record of this transaction on their end. I then asked why I had not been called to be updated that they found any record of this order/purchase. The owner told me that he hadn't called me because the part was not in the store yet and that I would be called when the part came in. * As of 27 March 2017, the store has yet to call me concerning this part, I am sure that I was lied to when I went into the store on 17 March when I was told that the part was on its way. * I subsequently went to another firearms store and ordered the same part on 18 March 2017. The part will arrive in their store by 24 March 2017. Additionally, if I were to have ordered the part on Amazon.com, it would take 2-3 business days to arrive. In the end, I had to dispute the charge with my bank since dealing with this situation and I got my money back. The customer service was horrible and honestly, when I went into the store the last time, the owner was rude with me. I guess if you aren't there to drop hundreds of dollars or more on a firearm, they just don't care. I would say that if they have the exact firearm you want and it's in stock and it's the same price as other stores but closer OR it's cheaper than other stores - try your luck. If it's not closer, cheaper, or they have to order it - don't waste your time. Personally, I will never bring my business to them again or recommend them to anyone I know. read more

This was by far the worst company and customer service I have ever experienced in the tactical and firearms industry. In February, I went to the store and inquired about a back panel assault pack for a tactical vest. After being informed they had none in stock I was given the option to order one on line and have it delivered. For some odd reason they made me pre pay for the item and shipping to have it delivered in store. And was told by the sales associate it would take about 5-7 days to arrive. After more than 2 weeks. I called the office on 16 February and was told they were still waiting and it would be in, in about 2 days. I waited the two days and drove to the store with receipt in h d. Only to find out it wasn't there and they didn't know when it would be. I informed the salesman I wanted my money back and I would be going home to wait for return of payment. After two hours I was called and told it came in. And as I needed it for a trip I went in. So upon arrival I found out it wasn't actually there but was in route. Jerry. The owner had it. He arrived disgusted and pissed off. Handed me the product and upon opening it found that it was not only the wrong pack. It was the right camo pattern either. I protested and asked if they had the right one in the back. And was told "Sir I don't care what you ordered, I don't deal with that vender anymore. It's not my problem. Try selling it" I would never recommend this company and its business to anyone for any reason. There are several competitors in the near area who are 1000% better. read more

For the record I downloaded this app so that I could leave a review about the SpecDiv Tactical. Last week I called and asked for a quote on some ammo. I was giving a price over the phone and when I went to the store 6 hours later. I was giving another price which was significantly more, like 60 dollars more. I am not sure what all that was about but, I am taking my money and business elsewhere and I will be sure to tell everyone what my experience was. Totally disrespectful and unnecessary. read more

I came here looking to learn more and everyone there was welcoming and offered up their knowledge and experience. I don't frequent gun shops often so I did not know what to expect but I'd give these guys 5 stars for being friendly and spending time asking questions about me. I also took a class at the shop and will definitely go back for another! I'm looking to purchase from them online so I will see how that goes but I expect nothing less than a smooth process read more

Here's a pro tip. If you go to the concealed carry class on a holiday weekend there's a good chance the class will be small. Maybe just you and a buddy. Maybe just you. This morning I got 4 hours of individual training and coaching from a special warfare veteran. This would normally cost 4 to 10 times as much. Aside from the great value, the training was great, practical, and useful. We covered a wide variety of gear, laws, and situations. I highly recommend this training, and be on the lookout for expanded inventory and services at specdive in the near future. read more

Just ordered a couple handguns and had them sent here. I'm a DC resident so limited in what I can legally buy. This is my third time using SpecDive Tactical. This is the second time at their new location. I had a good talk with a retired Marine master gunnery seargent during my first encounter. I'm not a gun nut and I am pretty liberal, but I like guns and that mutual interest and our prior military service made for great conversation and great service. The second time I used them a young kid helped me with my .45-75 rifle that I picked up after 8 months of them storing it due to the pandemic. Great service and again great discussion. This kid knew his stuff and we chatted about single action pistols with another customer who was picking up his recent purchase. I see the negative reviews here and have to question ... This place has been fast and efficient. I've had no issues. I have enjoyed talking with the staff ... I don't think having a gun is cool, it's practical. I have a pair of Walther pistols coming in for my wife and would expect the same great service. If it isn't I'll let y'all know. Bottom line is that these folks are good at what they do and their classes - the most important part of owning a gun, Knowledge / knowing how to shoot - are solid. They didn't serve me tea and cookies so they only get 4 stars. read more

Jerry (the owner) was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He helped me get the aimpoint optic i needed. I am thrilled to have found such a great store for all my future firearms and accessory needs. Update: ive since returned to specdive several times since. I have purchased two guns from them and have been very pleased on both occasions. I also went to get a new slide release on my glock. They had the pistol back up and running in no time. Amazing customer service. I wouldnt consider going anywhere else for my firearm needs. Thanks gentlemen, Al Patterson read more

First time I've given 5 stars! Was looking for some bonding time with my two teenage boys without dipping into their college funds. I was first impressed when they called me back after I called and got their voicemail, which I later learned once I walked in that it was due to the employees being engaged with the customers. It looked more like a social gathering than a place of business. I was greeted in a friendly and respectful manner despite the fact that I walked in with teenage boys with piercings and ripped jeans. The owner Jerry fellow Navy veteran took me and my boys under his wing. Taking his time to show us proper handling of weapons and target practice on their super awesome later system. I wasn't expecting much from a laser system but can say that I was highly impressed with the accuracy and realness of it. In hindsight I'm so glad I took them their for their first time instead of a real range. Jerry was able to set the right habits and techniques before bad ones set in. Now they are ready for the real thing and they will enjoy it that much more. Jerry took care of my boys and I and I am telling everybody I can about this great place. OoOrrah! read more

These guys are awesome. Very professional, extremely knowledgeable, and no sales pressure. Prices are competitive as well. Highly recommend! read more

I finally found a firearms store in Northern Virginia that has a great staff and great items for sale. The owner, Jerry, genuinely cares about getting you excellent equipment for a great price. He's attentive and honest. SpecDive also offers training from a personable and knowledgeable staff. I recently attended their combat pistol and rifle training over the period of a weekend. It was an unforgettable experience at a beautiful range with excellent instruction. I'm looking forward to what's to their future and being part of the SpecDive community. Seriously, I'm so glad there's a good firearms store in NoVA. read more

Great place. Owner and staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. Came in to look at one particular item and ended up staying for 45 min talking about guns and optics. Very helpful and not pushy at all. read more

Placed a special order for two spare magazines. Didn't hear anything for a month or so. Called to check and was told his distributor was out and he was checking other sources. Never heard anything back. Called back a month or so later, was told it was coming and they would call when it came in, about a week. Nothing, two weeks later stopped by the store. The store was closed unexpectedly during normal business hours. Called again a few days later and was told, it's here. So I go to the store and he can't find the package. Told him to just mail it to me. Another month or so goes by, I don't see or hear anything. I call the store and they give me the run around saying it's here come pick it up. I go to the store they don't have it. I ask for credit back to my card and he wants the receipt in order to do so, which I have. So finally after 8 months and 5 days, I get my money back for an order I don't think was ever placed. Poor customer service, poor communication, poorly organized, poor experience. read more

My husband and I literally stumbled across SpecDive while shopping at one of the flooring stores next door. Because we have recently moved to a new house which is quite isolated, we thought it might be time to buy our first firearm (both of us have shot many times with friends) Jerry, the owner, was very helpful and patient and not at all pressuring. Because the Glock we both liked was not in stock, we made plans to come back in a couple weeks and pick up the gun in conjunction with taking the basic handgun safety course (10% off the gun is part of the deal). The guys in the shop were also very helpful explaining things like the laws regarding transporting weapons In your vehicle. Clinton, our instructor, was great. Very patient, helpful, and encouraging. Range time and targets were also included. We had a great time and at the end of the 2 hour class, we felt like we were ready, willing, and able to use the weapon if the need ever arises, which of course was our goal. We expect to be a regular customers. read more

Decent experience the first time I bought a gun there. Horrible second visit. I asked if I could get a deal on a holster (ie like 20-30 bucks off) if I purchased a 1911 colt and the owner started threatening me and yelling and chased me out of the store cursing. It was unacceptable as instead of just saying "no we cant't do that" he starts cursing and yelling and kicks me out of the store. I would not recommend this place to anyone as they all are carrying loaded guns and with episodes like that no one should feel safe as if someone has that type of temper from a simple question of receiving a discount imagine what he is capable of doing while holding a loaded gun. read more

Saturday, november 5. Drove 35 miles in traffic to purchase a very expensive gun and optics...they say they open at 10 am...got there 10:38 am...not open. Enough said....shop elsewhere. read more

I've made two purchases from SpecDive, and also taken their CCW class, and generally been pleased with their service and professionalism. The second purchase was an item from a distributor, but it actually arrives faster than promised, so my experience evidentially was different than some others. read more

Their prices are so expensive... how can they even compete? It's literally 20% more expensive than ANY of the gun shops the D.C. area. The business owner firmly stated that he was the cheapest in the area... has he even checked or is he just lying to my face? He turned extremely rude when I brought up the pricing. He's just a very prideful guy who will snap at you if you say anything he doesn't like to hear. read more

Placed an order with this company on 2 JUL for a WASR10 & Ruger 10/22. Before placing the order I asked if they could hold this item until I arrived in VA late August. I was assured this would be possible for a fee which I gladly accepted, they were willing to waive this at a later time. I chose them specifically for this reason as there were other places that had the same gun available at the time. I also ordered this gun in JUL 16 because they were becoming difficult to get, other stores had them at the time. I followed up on the pickup procedures about 35d after placing the order and was directed on what I needed to do before arriving to pickup the weapon. During my call I was also informed that the item had not arrived and that they did not have an idea when it would arrive. I called last week to see if the weapon was in and was told they needed to research it and would get back to me, no return call. I called the next day and left a message about the status of my items, no return call. I contacted the store via FB and was told they would research it (they finally responded) and would get back to me the next Monday. By 1400 no response was provided so I dropped in person. Upon arriving I was told they were waiting on the item from Century and couldn't guarantee when it would arrive as they were hard to get right now. There was nothing online indicating it was unavailable when I originally placed the order or that I would need to wait on the MFG prior to my follow-up call (my assumption is that it was ordered immediately and would be available in the store after they charged my credit card and that it would arrive within 5 business days as it states in their cart). At the end of the day I was issued a refund but am now stuck trying to locate this weapon when I could have ordered it from another vendor had I known they didn't actually carry the items on hand. Before placing an order with this company you may want to clarify when they are actually going to have the item on hand....their website is misleading. read more

I recently attended the basic handgun course with NRA instructor Clinton. I am impressed with Clinton's knowledge in the classroom and at the shooting range. After the classroom session, Clinton was teaching another student and I on how to shoot accurately. This was like having a private session. I highly recommend and encourage anyone who has never taken a handgun class to attend at SpecDive Tactical. read more

Great customer service and turn around time. I'm from Michigan and stopped by since I was in the area.
