Our cat was with us for 20 years, and the loss has been felt deeply in our household. Dr. Reiss was above and beyond compassionate and explained everything thoroughly to ensure our comfort and understanding before anything took place. He has been completely consistent in his care these past 5 years, but this last appointment was obviously especially critical, and his bedside manner was nothing short of exactly what a family would need in this extremely difficult moment. He took care of every aspect so that we could completely focus on our last moments with Sebastian, and then handled his precious body with the utmost dignity and respect to all of us. You couldn't ask for a better, kinder, doctor. And I also have to say that the process was as peaceful as it could have been and a large part of that was because of his attention to detail, concern, and obvious level of professional care. I also should note that the service he uses for cremation (Agape) absolutely exceeded expectations. I used to work for a vet hospital, and I've actually never seen such a professional and dignified presentation as what they provide back to the pet owner. I truly felt like my precious cat was honored, and that has done my heart good in my grief. Don't shop around. If Dr. Reiss services your area, do not even consider going elsewhere. Lord-willing, he will be our first choice with any pets we have again in the future. Thank you, Dr. Reiss. Our family will never forget your compassion and kindness.

Recently, I accompanied a friend to an appointment there and was quickly reminded why we left. The atmosphere remains dismissive and unwelcoming, and it's clear they are not focused on client relationships or patient comfort. I was especially concerned to overhear the vet brushing off my friend's valid concerns about the way she was treated by the support staff earlier that week. There was no effort to listen, empathize, or acknowledge her experience--it felt cold and condescending. What's more troubling is that for eight years, my friend's dog was told she had a heart murmur--only to be correctly diagnosed as not having one after switching to our current vet at Apple Tree Animal Clinic (recommended by the Humane Society). If you're looking for a clinic where your concerns will be heard and your pets treated with compassion and professionalism, I recommend going elsewhere. Bedside manner matters, and unfortunately, it's still lacking at Ranson Animal Hospital.

They asked if I saw…read morethe kind of snake I said no, he was in the tall grass around the shed- but we have copperheads up here- he isn't doing well, leg is swelling and he's very dizzy. They told me bring him straight in. I did. They said they thought it may be a break- I said no, it's a snake bite. They say they don't see puncture marks. So they X-ray him, they say no break, but they might do some more testing- I said shave his damn leg and check for puncture because I told you it's a snake bite. They say "oh yeah, we see two small punctures, it's a snake bite. You'll need to take him somewhere else, we do not carry anti venom." Wasted a lot of time and still paid over $700 for them to bullshit me around. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE- I still have to pay out, but considering legal action, they are unethical. Thank god Blue Ridge Veterinary Associates saved my boy.

Beforehand, he was playing and happy. Only 6 years old. So I was worried about my other dog... I'll get to that part after this.. I took my 6 year old pup Abbie to a new Vet Clinic (Not Countryside) today to get checked out. I got her blood work done, HeartWorm test checked, yearly vaccines that were due anyway, Lyme Disease check, and she had a limp Friday so we checked that out too and got her some anti inflammatory (he thinks it's a sprain). Last year Abbie had a tumor on her side. Without hesitation the Old Vet (Dr. Dibbern) told me that he needed to remove it immediately and send it off for testing. I was like oh okay yea, so worried that something was wrong! She went under anesthesia and $500-$600 later she was out recovering and waiting on results. It's was a fatty tumor, not cancerous. Today I had the new vet check out her new tumor and he told me that he can do a needle test to check the tumor to see if it's just fatty. The needle test was $27. I was like are you serious? My last vet said it needed to be removed. He said it's not wise to put dogs under anesthesia if there is another way. Dr. Dibbern has always had a sort of attitude but I never really paid to much attention. But Friday he was an absolute condescending jerk! When I took Dunn in who passed away, He didn't look at Dunn, didn't even look in his direction. He tried to tell me that he could have passed due to me not using the medications/ preventatives he supplies at his office! When I asked him if he could just look at Dunn he told me NO!!! When we were done the Tech said " I'll let you say your goodbyes before I put him in the freezer", Wow thanks for being so kind. This new vet told me about all the different preventive meds that are prescribed he offers that are substantially cheaper than the ones I mentioned were pushed on me. I was so mad! Countryside Vet was my old vet, and he should be ashamed of himself. After looking at his reviews over the weekend there are many others that have had the same problem with him! He does not have your pets best interest at heart! He is about the money. And when you ask him questions he is so Condescending and just plain rude!!! If you deny the most expensive meds he talks about how your putting your dog at risk! So this weekend I will be writing / reporting him to the Veterinary Board. Not only did he not give a s*** about Dunn dying, he put Abbie through a procedure that wasn't even necessary!
