We found one, only to be told 4 months later that they would no longer be doing recycling. We paid this company more so that we could have recycling and decided that we didn't need to pay them more if they wouldn't provide a service that we desperately believe in. So, we set out on a new quest to find a company who could help. Guess what. One doesn't exist that services our subdivision. So, we started doing a little research and soon discovered that we could drop our waste/recycling off at one of the Dorchester County Solid Waste's convenience locations. We're sold. We typically take a bag of trash every two weeks, and we take all of our recycling. This place accepts aluminum/metal, cardboard, paper, plastic, glass, tires, carpet, styrofoam, household bagged trash, and large items. Let's face it; it's a dump. but, for a dump, it's actually pretty cool. I will say that those who work there never offer to help, but I'm not sure that it's the job to do so. They are responsible for keeping the area clean and traffic flowing, and they do a good job of it. If you're over having someone pick up your trash but not having recycling service, you might consider dumping your trash collector and visiting the dump.

The people are friendly, the housing prices more reasonable than where we were up north and downtown Summerville has cute shops, good restaurants and community events we love to attend. For us it was the perfect spot for relocation.

The construction of…read moreseveral neighborhoods including Cane Bay, Carnes Crossroads and Nexton has definitely led to an influx of new residents and new traffic!! The restaurant scene has exploded and many of the popular restaurants that were once downtown have built/added Summerville locations (Halls Chop House, Poughan's Southern Kitchen.) The area is a nice suburb that seems primarily filled with growing families and retirees. I don't feel there is a lot to do necessarily but if coffee shops, eating out, shopping, spa treatments happy hours are your thing it's not too bad. It feels safe which is important and property value has soared due to the growth in the area :) $$$$ There are some hidden spots that are interesting like the small art gallery downtown, a couple of wine bars ect. Overall, it's a growing area that is really nice but getting to the point of being overcrowded.

Why is it called the Four Corners of Law?…read more This four corners in Charleston is pretty cool. Nothing like the Four Corners Monument we visited in 2012 that marked the quadripoint in the Southwestern US (where the states of AZ, CO, NM, and UT meet). No, this four corners intersection are made of historic buildings -- Courthouse and US Post Office,, State Courthouse, City Hall, and the St. Michael's Church. 1- United States Post Office and Courthouse - 1896 Post Office, representing the federal government 2- State Courthouse - this 1792 courthouse represents county government 3- City Hall -symbolizes city government which begun in 1800 4- St. Michael's Church - the church was built between 1752 and 1761 and depicts ecclesiastical law These amazing historic structures are located on the southwest corner intersection of Meeting and Broad Streets in downtown Charleston. For our Monday visit the streets were pretty empty due to Covid and I was able to get some nice shots of the buildings. Interesting trivia: The Four Corners of Law was coined in the 1930s by Robert Ripley, creator of Ripley's Believe it or Not! and it has been called that ever since. Review #1847
