Fast forward to 2024, my at the time boyfriend was in the process of getting divorced and needed to hire an attorney to represent him. I of course mentioned John's office to him. As I had such a simple dissolution. John must have been busy, because his case got forwarded to Chase Baker. First appt: Chase seemed like he heard everything we had said, there was even a point where they connected on a previous case involving my now fiancés daughter against ex wife's son (SA) and was the entire reason they were getting a divorce. Chase was the prosecutor for Richland county juvenile services at that time. So he had remembered my fiancés case and was equally as distraught that nothing ever came to. Chase filed the dissolution motion and from there it turned into a full blown divorce, during the divorce proceedings she had gotten involved with attorney Melissa tomello who is known to be a 'shark' in court. Chase basically laid down and let them take him for everything that he has and didn't. Never made her turn in financial statements of how much money she made. She withheld and changed her phone number and kept the kids from him for two months, he paid off her cellphone and she got a brand new one on His phone plan and put it on her own line but he had to pay off again a brand new phone for her, still had the son that wasn't to be around young kids around his young sons, and still never represented that in court. There were times before court where he had no idea where to go, when to report and getting him to answer an email or phone call was like pulling teeth. There was no Communication Unless it was a reply to back to back to back emails on my fiancés end being sent. Then when it came to court, he refused to actually fight and stand up for him as his client. So now almost a year later, someone who's son sexually abused my step daughter and the ex wife/ mother screaming from the roof tops that she's a liar is bringing home $478 in child support a week. And the father of this child, who has full custody of his daughter is barely scraping Penny's together to get by. Talking $300 a week on a 40 hr week. He will say child care costs but childcare is $280 a week for the other children (two sons) that they had together and both kids are not on formula or needing extra doctors appts etc. All this to say, I feel like the cause for recommending John because he was good to me, to getting his colleague who I assumed would be a direct reflection of him...only to find out this is not the case. So long story, John was great chase however is not.

Her fee was 300.00 an hour when we started with her. At some point she raised her fee to 500.00 an hour without informing us. She never sent us a itemized bill during the whole process until the end despite asking for one several times. After investing over 12,000. 00 dollars in my daughter's divorce and not one thing being decided, I had to say enough. I told Kristen that we could no longer afford to give my daughter more money towards the divorce and Kristen had the nerve to tell me the the charges were like a mortgage. You can't tell your lender that you no longer will pay your bill. I was insulted beyond belief by her condescending tone and ridiculous comparison. We talked again to her and stressed we had spent our budget. We agreed to try to get divorce finalized. The trail was a joke. Kristen did not represent my daughter at all. She did absolutely no negotiating and allowed her soon to be ex's lawyer dictate terms. She got nothing from her home , including her clothing. When my daughter asked about getting one of the 4 TV's in her home, Kristen told her to let it go that she would give he one of her TV's Similar response when inquiring about a vehicle. Kristen told her to just go to a "buy here, pay here" lot. REALLY?? The home was ordered sold with the proceeds to pay off the bills created by my daughter's ex-husband's lavish spending. No mention of getting half of the assets. She did not receive a car in the settlement even though her husband owns a new truck, several cars a motorcycle, a golf cart and a motor home that he parks at Clays Park year round. . She did not receive any child support even though Kristen maintained she would get around 1,000 .00 a month. Her ex's assets and retirement was not even disclosed. How he can pay bills amounting to 7,000 a month on a supposed 30,000 IRS reported income is beyond me. My daughter is now receiving help through government assistance and I helped her get beds and furniture for her and her four children. Very very disappointing experience. I have never seen a divorce handled and executed so poorly. What a disgrace. Do not use this attorney unless you have in writing your expectations and outcome. If it is a nasty divorce avoid her. She will bleed you dry.

She is the absolute worst, save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. During a court hearing, he calculated my SSI in with child support. The judge had to tell him SSI doesn't get included in the child support calculation. 20 months prior he did calculate CS with my SSI income, when my son could have received a $1,000+ more in support. How many of his clients has he miscalculated their child support? Did he forget? He went up against my unrepresented ex-wife losing part of my case. My ex admitted to Atty. Keyser, a magistrate, a mediator, and me that she received my son's stimulus. At trial, she then claimed she never got it. Even with her admitting she received it and evidence stating she received it, he did not question her about her denying receiving it when her receiving it is one reason I took her to court! Did he forget? During this case, I spoke to him more than once about an issue with my son returning more so than not from visitation sick, sometimes seriously. Each time, even when presenting him with documentation, he said "I'll get back with you." Did he forget? After almost 6 months of him not getting back to me, I hired another attorney who in 2 weeks resolved the problem. I told him the day of the pretrial, "She needs to pay court cost like she had to with our divorce" and he said "Well, yeah" and "that goes along with a win" (I could be mistaken with the second quote; he moved his head down and started talking in the direction of the floor, he was mumbled). Did he forget? I ended up having to pay it along with $500 to him for about an hour of his time. If you take a chance with this attorney, DO NOT give him more (like for future services) of a retainer than he requires; pay him per job. Also, ask for billing each month to keep track of what he's charging you. I wish I had of.
