Knowing we needed to get our brick stairs repaired, we absolutely wanted to do the same bluestone treads. Chris stopped by and we worked on a slightly adjusted plan vs the neighbor's house. Chris did all of the work end to end... Researching my specific questions, acquiring the materials, and scheduling us within a couple of weeks. His team of masons are expert! They did an amazing job including the part I was most concerned about, core drilling the bottom treads and resetting the hand railings. Core drilling and setting in a cement product is the way to go. The railings were loose when we purchased the house. They are firmly set and should be for years to come. I am so glad I noticed them on a walk. So many of our neighbors are slowing down, stopping, or asking questions. I think the work is a hit!

He also sent me two hostile/threatening emails, saying that his lawyer will sue me for the value of my house if I did not take my reviews down. Needless to say, you risk your safety if you do business with Castro Landscaping and you have a negative experience and post an honest review. Needless to say, I have taken screenshots of all of his messages and emails. I now understand why he has only 5 star reviews on Google! Original Review ____ I am sorry to have to write this review. I was excited to use Castro because of the positive Google reviews. The bottom line is that the business is in chaos, responds late, doesn't show up, and has professionalism issues. Here's what happened: The first appointment was booked from 4-5 p.m. I had a meeting scheduled at 5:15 and let them know that if they came late, I would be unable to meet. At 4:50, I got a message that they were running late. They said they were 5 minutes away (they weren't). They showed up after 5 and I had only 5 minutes to talk to the rep. My husband luckily had a meeting cancellation and was able to talk for a few more minutes. After this, the next few weeks were chaos. The owner has poor communication with his employees and was constantly asking me if I had been contacted. The employees would drop out of contact. The owner sent me a photo of a potential design and I said my husband wasn't that keen on it and we'd like to see another and also receive quotes. Through over a month of emailing and texting, I could never get a quote from anyone (though the owner at one point sent me a 2nd design photo). Finally, I asked the owner if my project was too small (I anticipated a $7000 range price tag) for the business. He said no and set up another appt. At the same time, his employee wrote to set one up and I said I had one at 4 the next day. The next day, no one showed up. When I wrote to the employee they said I hadn't confirmed, so I sent a screenshot of my confirmation. My husband said that they should be chasing our business, not vice-versa. I let it go for another few weeks. I liked the designs I was sent, so against my better judgment I scheduled another appt. They said they would show up. I had to schedule my entire day to be home for this. That day, it rained, and the company didn't show up for the 2nd time--no call, no email. So, I'm not sure who is having success with this business, but I am surprised anyone is able to communicate with them and see results.

Buyer beware! I should've posted this review years ago…read moresince the work done was in 2017/2018. I didn't want to hurt this business at the time. But having dealt with someone else for the last several years who puts customer first, admits errors and mistakes made by an employee, I decided it was time. I'd say that 75%+ of shrubs didn't make it and what did was planted either too close to house or areas they didn't belong. So what was left had to be transplanted. I will say their hard scape was very nice with the exception of a huge Boulder that had no support under it and drastically shifted. I wasn't about to call indigenous to fix it. It has now been properly installed by someone else. They talk a good game.
