The hotel is located at the Kennedy Platz which is one of the main sqares in the center. If the weather is good you can just walk out of the door and sit outside in one of the bars and café s around. They can also be an alternative for breakfast if you do not want to have it in the hotel. We did not try it. 7,50 EUR. If you traveld by car it is likely that you need to use one of some public car parks. Today is our first day and yesterday we were lucky and found a place on the street where parking is free of charge 8pm 10am. Rooms are sufficiently but not very larg. Bath room fairly small, but ok. Very clean. Bed quite comfortable (I like the matress a bit softer, but it was ok anyhow.) No wardrobe, but alternatives are available. In a nutshell: good! Especially for the price. Alternatives I can recommend: Mövenpick near by and Rheinischer Hof 5 10 minutes away by car, in a nice neighborhood.

The hotel itself is lovely, the rooms well appointed and clean, comfortable beds and a great shower. The windows open, but if you are facing the airport, it will be loud, having said that, it is very quiet when they are closed. Breakfast is typical German style, no complaints. The bar is nice and cozy. Staff is friendly, helpful and smiling. Being close to the airport, there are many shops and restaurants there if you don't want to venture into the city. The Maritim is a great choice.

We did not have any issues hearing airplanes flying by over the night, we slept wonderfully even though the terminals were nearby. This is hardly a two-star hotel and no where near a 4-star for the following reasons:…read more The hotel has been bought by Sunday and no one had informed me via email whatsoever. I came from airport on a taxi and we were keep looking for Mercure Hotel sign for over 30 minutes, which was very frustrating. I learned communication is one of the worst things at this hotel. Rooms are very old, no fridge, no bottle water when you arrive which makes you to go grocery shopping as you arrive which is ridiculous. Bathroom is moldy, no trash bag inside the trash cans. No phones inside the room to communicate with the reception, no piece of information about how things are working in this hotel. Staff at reception were Ok but oh my lord, the breakfast area staff beyond rude. More specifically the chubby guy with black hair. He has his own rules and as soon as you don't speak German he gets more rude. He is very entitled and bossy and gives you the impression that you paid the hotel to have him to boss you around. Breakfast was served until 10:30, and since I was jet lagged and on vacation I was going usually after 9am. One day he said he took the milk because " breakfast time is over at 8:30", the other day he took the cream cheese away. One morning as I walking to seat at a table, he loudly called me out and told me he wants me to seat at the front. They are very condescending as well, when I expressed my concerns to the receptionist, they would change their attitude and words and blame it on miscommunication. I stayed EIGHT nights and every morning the chubby black haired guy would ask for my room number while I was observing him he was not asking from German speaker guests. All and all, this was my first and last time staying at this hotel. They know nothing about customer service and they would ruin your vacation with their horrible service.

Unfortunately we had to move to another Mercure hotel to get diner - the worst I ever had. If there would have been a possibility to get diner here in this hotel, and it would have been as good as the other parts (room, breakfast) then I would probably have rated this hotel with 5 stars.

On the bad side (and this is what really ruined the place for me), when we arrived at 11:00 in the morning it was 'oh, check in is not until 3:00 pm' and there was no negotiation. Actually my who experience with this hotel was that they weren't open to negotiation, but then I suspect that is what most of the multi-nation corporate hotels are like. The thing that got me was that the kitchen staff were incredibly rude, and that was simply because they wouldn't budge on a simply bowl of cornflakes, and seriously, 11 Euros for a bowl of cornflakes is ridiculous. They did end up going to getting some advice and gave the cornflakes to us for free, but the fact that I had to go through this both mornings, and one morning was an argument for about 10 minutes - in German mind you - sort of completely ruined it for me.
