Hotel is ok with helpful receptionist and clean rooms. The problem is the part thin walls mean you get constantly woken up by other noisy, less considerate neighbours. read more

The hotel is located at the Kennedy Platz which is one of the main sqares in the center. If the weather is good you can just walk out of the door and sit outside in one of the bars and café s around. They can also be an alternative for breakfast if you do not want to have it in the hotel. We did not try it. 7,50 EUR. If you traveld by car it is likely that you need to use one of some public car parks. Today is our first day and yesterday we were lucky and found a place on the street where parking is free of charge 8pm 10am. Rooms are sufficiently but not very larg. Bath room fairly small, but ok. Very clean. Bed quite comfortable (I like the matress a bit softer, but it was ok anyhow.) No wardrobe, but alternatives are available. In a nutshell: good! Especially for the price. Alternatives I can recommend: Mövenpick near by and Rheinischer Hof 5 10 minutes away by car, in a nice neighborhood.

Last year we stayed at a Holiday Inn downtown which was much less expensive, had better food for less money and much better service. An all around improvement but for the inconvenience of having to take the U-Bahn to and from the convention center. Every year I weight the decision between overpriced but close and fairly prices but further, however, The Atlantic's ABYSMAL policy regarding cancellations during a pandemic have made it easy to never stay with them again. Despite a global pandemic prohibiting international travel... Despite the cancellation of Essen Spiel because of COVID... Despite airlines cancelling flights and refunding fares... THE ATLANTIC WILL NOT ISSUE REFUNDS FOR RESERVATIONS. They are literally going to have an empty hotel for a week in October because no one will be coming for Spiel and they cannot cancel their reservations. Actually, that might not be true, they will likely double book the rooms knowing that the Spiel travelers cannot come - allowing The Atlantic to collect their predatory pandemic money twice. It's disgraceful. Obviously I will never be staying at The Atlantic again. I urge you to avoid it as well.

My husband and I have stayed here during Spiel for the past few years, and keep coming back. The hotel restaurant is good, albeit a little pricey (but of course, it's a hotel restaurant!) The breakfast buffet is quite extensive and tasty - a good way to fuel up before a long day at Spiel!

Never had this before in any other NH Hotel or other hotel in Germany. - One curtain in my room was too short, so I woke up early in full day light. After making a complaint about this at checkout the only reaction was "we will inform housekeeping, besides this you had a good stay?". No understanding of the problem at all. - Breakfast buffet is with 24,90 euros way too expensive for what you get. - Bathrooms are outdated for this type of hotel. The only positive point is that you can request a free late checkout on Sundays (till 17.00).

On the bad side (and this is what really ruined the place for me), when we arrived at 11:00 in the morning it was 'oh, check in is not until 3:00 pm' and there was no negotiation. Actually my who experience with this hotel was that they weren't open to negotiation, but then I suspect that is what most of the multi-nation corporate hotels are like. The thing that got me was that the kitchen staff were incredibly rude, and that was simply because they wouldn't budge on a simply bowl of cornflakes, and seriously, 11 Euros for a bowl of cornflakes is ridiculous. They did end up going to getting some advice and gave the cornflakes to us for free, but the fact that I had to go through this both mornings, and one morning was an argument for about 10 minutes - in German mind you - sort of completely ruined it for me.
