This shop used to be half the size it is now. An old Barbour shop has since been bought out and…read morebuilt into to create, well, a larger food store. There is nothing that makes this store worth travelling miles just to see (it is, after all, just a grocer-type place) but when your are here you'll see that it is worthy of it's four stars. It does indeed sell everything you would expect of a convenience store - with a healthy alcohol section (substantial, not necessarily good for you) - but that should only really equate to 3 stars in my eyes. The fourth star is awarded for the level of cleanliness and the sense of order here at G Express. ALL of the aisles are well stocked with a large variety of goods, neat, tidy well arranged. But the best part of it is that G Express became the first place where it was so clean I could see my own reflection in the floor! THE FLOOR! Alright, it's not like looking straight into a mirror but the are definite outlines and facial features visible, I could clearly see me - in the floor! Awesome floor. That aside, the staff are all quite chilled and friendly and an impressive modern computer system is running there which includes a large flat-screen TV which doubles up as their CCTV when their not watching football or their favourite show. Right, so if you want to talk about hidden gems in London, this place should be at the top of the list. I've found loads of outrageously random Eastern European beers in here - and kvass! The selection is lager-heavy, though there are a few dark beers to be found - and kvass! Prices are very good, and the service essentially non-existent, which is fine with me. I'm guessing the lady at the counter is pretty weirded out by the random guy poring over their cheap beer selection, and she probably figures it's best to just let him be. This shop is a one-minute walk from William IV, so if you're in the area pop in here - and kvass!
