Was strung along the entire time in regards to my SO workers comp case evaluation for a head injury…read moresustained at work. He "went into the evaluation with an open mind" but failed to let us know that WC insurance company had showed him a "video of her grocery shopping" and she "looked perfectly fine to him." Mind you this was a head injury and not a physically broken leg or obvious to spot injury. I guess he just expects the world to stop around us and we don't need to eat or grocery shop for us and the children. He was asking loaded questions the entire time and it was very obvious the WC insurance company had paid him to say what they wanted him to say. He should not be anywhere near a dr office, let alone patients. He should have his board certification revoked and his practice shut down. After all of the stuff we've went through this entire time he just made things 100% more difficult and time consuming for her to receive the compensation she has earned and deserves.

I recently had an appointment at NC Neuropsychiatry's Chapel Hill location. My experience with the…read morenurse practitioner there was unworthy of praise. I came to NC Neuropsychiatry looking to get medicated for my ADHD diagnosis that I received through this establishment. During my appointment, I was never asked about how my ADHD affected me or why I was seeking medication. The only time this was brought up was when I self-disclosed my reasons for coming to the appointment and how I believe my ADHD has recently caused me some hardships. I also explained that due to my diagnosis, I was not seeking stimulants. I was seeking non-stimulant medication for ADHD. After mentioning my other diagnosis of bipolar, the practitioner only focused on this and my overall health. When I replied to certain questions about substance use, the provider made unprofessional facial expressions that indicated she was judging me. And judging me, she was. At the end of the appointment, when virtually nothing was asked about my ADHD symptoms, she condescendingly told me that the previous examples of my hardships I was experiencing were "normal" and that "everyone experienced [them]." She also told me that she was finding it hard to believe I had ADHD and that my symptoms were due to bipolar. I will now take the time to cite a peer-reviewed study I found on the National Library of Medicine: "Of those with a bipolar disorder, 17.1% had an ADHD diagnosis- with bipolar disorder type again not influencing rates" (Parker, 2025). This shows that me having both Bipolar Disorder and ADHD is not uncommon. I believe if this practitioner had asked me more questions about my symptoms regarding ADHD, I may have had a better experience. After concluding that I only had bipolar, she said: "If you just came here for stimulants, then there's not much I can do to help you." As you may remember, as mentioned above, I was not seeking stimulants; I specifically was trying to explore non-stimulant medicine. I also find this response accusatory and unprofessional, especially without offering any options for me to pursue. Overall, the appointment left me feeling hopeless and torn apart. I went home to my family and cried. I have experienced emotional distress multiple times since this appointment. While I understand it is a mentally challenging and draining job to have, our job as mental health professionals is to see the whole person. I felt as if she latched onto one part of me to fulfill her two-second split judgment of who I was. Citation: Parker G. (2025). Comorbid ADHD and Bipolar Disorder - An Update.
