I have never heard of "I'm An Artist Community Studio" before but think I stumpled upon a Facebook…read moreevent for "Art Journaling". I've always had a creative side and enjoyed the idea of learning more artistic outlets, so when I found out that they do classes, I had to join in! My friends have always talked about doing a watercolor class so when I went on to their site, I saw quite a few for the day but none in the evenings. I messaged them on Instagram and they immediately shared with me the upcoming watercolor evening classes to sign up. They do a lot of day time classes for kids but also have a variety of classes that you can sign up for throughout the month. Facebook seems to be the most up to date spot for events. This class was the "Watercolor Rainbow" where the owner provided each station with practice paper, a larger watercolor paper for our "creation" and our own paint palettes. We walked through different techniques of wet on wet, wet on dry, how to add more texture and even remove some of the paint if it was too wet. It was a great experience to dabble back into watercolors and I will definitely be looking into other classes here in the future!

We had a great time! We were all a little nervous to start burning our hats at first, but once we got into it, it was easy and not at all intimidating. It was really fun to see all the finished designs and how different all of our hats looked. We were provided excellent guidance. Theguidance. The two instructors were amazing. The space was beautiful! We have already started talking about the next class we are going to take! If you are a novice crafter, not crafty at all or consider yourself an expert, I think this is a fabulous experience for everyone.

By the end of it, we all had something to be proud of... and picked up a new hobby. They gave us wine and snacks during our time, and really let us use the space to our needs. This studio has an incredible selection of glass items, such as vases, bowls, lampshades and…read moreornaments, which vary in price. They also offer classes in glass blowing, beginning with glass paperweights. The classes are great fun, because the staff is kind and encouraging, and there is a genuine element of learning how to do things, rather than having them done for you. It is also possible to see other groups doing it, and there's at least one day a year when they take walk-ins! Groups need to be 3-4 people, and it takes one or two days for the glass to cool, so if you're only in the area for a few days, factor this in.
