Everything with your mortgage loan department.They are inept and useless.Loan processor Jennifer Gangle is the most incompetent individual I ever dealt with and I was a Realtor for 11 years.From the beginning the loan process was a disaster.Asking for documents twice only to be told we lost the original but then we found it.Using the incorrect closing date almost putting my son's purchase in jeopardy of not closing and losing the purchase.This is a case of the left hand having no clue as to what the right hand is doing.My wife and I have obtained 2 first mortgages which were satisfied and currently have an open Heloc.My oldest son currently has a first mortgage with you and my youngest son just satisfied a mortgage loan while obtaining a new mortgage for his purchase.I highly recommended SCCU to them however,never again.Oh,and Jennifer asked for the HO binder 3times.I'm their State Farm agent so I absolutely know it was sent 3 different times.Your mortgage department couldn't have screwed up this transaction any more if they were intentionally trying to kill the deal.I literally called and left 20 messages for Jennifer the day before the closing date and the day of not knowing if the closing was going to occur.Jennifer put on a clinic on how to lose a client forever. read more

Extremely Frustrated with SCCU's Youth Account Process On May 31st, I registered for a youth account with SCCU for my daughter. At the time of setup, I was clearly informed that I needed to sign the required documents--not my daughter. Naturally, I assumed everything was in order once I fulfilled what was asked of me. Fast forward: we received her debit card and I contacted the credit union to complete the final setup and card activation. My daughter soon left on a church retreat, where her only line of communication was through chaperones. When she attempted to use her card for the first time--it was declined. I tried calling SCCU on Sunday, only to discover that no one works on Sundays. Apparently, life comes to a halt at SCCU on weekends. I contacted customer service first thing Monday morning, only to be told that the account setup was incomplete because some documents weren't signed. I sent in proof that I had signed everything required of me. That's when they dropped the ball again--now claiming my 14-year-old daughter was supposed to sign as well. Let me get this straight: how is a minor with no credit history supposed to be verified, and how is this new requirement not made clear from the start? Now, thanks to SCCU's failure to communicate and their poor setup process, my daughter is away with no money and no access to her account. This is more than an inconvenience--it's unacceptable. To make matters worse, I was told I had to wait for someone to contact me to resolve this. No direct line, no escalation, and apparently no accountability. There's not even a phone number available for the corporate office. If this is how SCCU handles youth accounts and customer support, I can't imagine how they handle anything more complex. The wildly unintelligent humans who work at the Melbourne location and its headquarters are probably the single dumbest collection of humans in one place. They are wildly unhelpful, incredibly uninformed about rules, regulations, and policies at the bank and in the system, and often give out wrong information - which causes extreme difficulty for the customers who bank there. I recently tried to do a refi with them and I constantly have to call for an update. No one ever answers the phone. I am cancelling my membership with them today. Absolute mess.I was hesitant to open another account with sccu. After spending 3 days looking at cars and being pre approved. I was given instructions on how to process the final steps on my purchase. The dealer called sccu with the vin and approved the sale we drove to long wood from Melbourne 1.5 hours to pick up the car after adding it to our insurance. Sccu decided they were not going to work with this car dealer saying they are not approved and not listed in thier system. The sccu rep them said they have never heard of this dealer yet they were an in-house financer for many years. The lady in the office even pulled records to prove they have been working wirh sccu for many years. They refused to tell me who thier approved dealers are but said that I should find a car negotiate a deal then call back to see if they are approved to sell me the car. So we lost 3 days of work and over a $1000.00 in wages and I took a hit to my credit for a loan that I didnt use because of sccu's lack of detail in thier regulations. My credit is over 800 and My hkuse hold income is over 80k a year. Waste of time waste of money and I get nothing from them. This is why they have such a poor rating across the review pages and do not have google ratings. I look foward to closing my account with them and consulting with my attourney to see if there is a small claim. read more

By far the worst bank ever in 2025 after Thanksgiving, I got scammed over $4000. Somebody called my phone pretending to be the fraud department on a Friday evening had all my information had my information to my saving my youth and my checking account they gave me their badge number. They gave me their name. They were very professional. They spoofed the phone number and I was Colehurst into handing my debit card over to a Uber driver who they said was a third-party connection with them and I had to put my card in an envelope with a case number on it, and they were gonna run it into a diagnostics to find out exactly where the people that were hacking. My account were coming from first thing Monday morning I went to the bank and they immediately froze. My account told me I would be reimbursed do not worry, and then once I gave them all the information and the full story I was told that I willingly gave my card over even though I was Colehurst into doing it and I'm a single mother who was told that $1500 was going to be trying to be wired out of my account and if I had any knowledge of it and I said no and he said OK we're going to lock your account right now. I'm sending over the code. Just repeat it back to me so I did and then they locked me out of my app fast forwarding until now I go to get onto my online banking and I'm locked out. It's letting me in by telling me that they're having an issue yeah it's not giving me any of my information and when I just went to go use my card it was declined. I cannot get a hold of anybody. There is no 24 hour fraud department service there is nobody I can speak to so now I have to sit here all night and stress and pray to God that my money is still there when I walk into that bank tomorrow I have no faith in these people they do not care about their customers I have been a valued member me and my family members for many years they don't offer you any type of helping in anyway and I regret not changing banks and now I'm sitting here on a Thursday night a single mother, trying to figure out why I can't get into my account and where my money is that this is by far the worst feeling in the worst bank I have ever dealt with in my life. They do not value their customers. They give false information and then turn around and do not even reimburse you for money that was stolen from you when I had a police report when I gave them all the information where you clearly can see that somebody hacked into my account and now on the mobile app they normally let you know if the app is going to be down or not ever since 6 PM I went to go look into my account and it lets me in but it won't give me any information so I just tried to use my card and it won't. It's saying declined and I have to wait till tomorrow to figure out what's going on, I do not recommend this bank to anybody and I regret so bad not switching banks when this happened to me back after Thanksgiving in 2025 false information they got my hopes up. I had the manager telling me not to worry. My funds will be back and then next thing you know they're telling me I will never get my money back. I paid off my loan in f ull but this institution has held up the lien release process, claiming to have a "managers hold" on it due to the large payoff amount made. My payment in full cleared a month ago, and I have called twice for a lien release, and there is still a lien on my property. This is illegal, and now I have to get my lawyer involved. Unwilling to work with you on any matter. The app barely works ever. Been with them for over 12 years and they have only gotten worse. Will not reverse any overdraft fees at all unless it's a fault on there end. Literally got charged a 30 dollar overdraft fee for 75 cents and they would NOT take it off. This bank is awful. Everything about them and everything they do is terrible. Space Coast CU is arguably the worst institution in the state of Florida. I've never had a bank essentially punish me for paying my credit card balance in full by freezing portions of my credit limit. I've also never had a bank process my fraud claims with a new card... and then deny crediting my fraudulent charges. I was forced to pay for a criminal's purchases because this bank essentially accused me of lying. Everything with them is made as inconvenient as possible to the point that it feels like they actively dislike their members. Avoid them, there's so many better financial institutions to use. The HELOC loan is nothing but a scam. They have a set amount of money the are going to collect in interest and you can not beat the system you are paying. Called SCCU customer service and they can not give me an answer other than it is the system. I pay a lot more than the min amount and the interest fee is the same amount if not more than the previous month. read more

Was a good institution when I first started, but over the years they have basically ignored my comments about how to improve some of their services. First, I like to download all of my transactions prior to doing my taxes each year. However, since they will only allow me to download up to exactly one year previous I would have to do this on New Year's Eve every year. Not exactly convenient. I've tried for years to speak to someone would allow that to be extended a few months, but was basically ignored. Now, they "improved" their online banking system and it doesn't connect with my QuickBooks account anymore. I've been asking for a couple of months about when it will be fixed and now it is next year and they are still saying, "It is being worked on." They just don't get the idea of customer service. read more

This is my first issue in over 20 years, but it is significant! I need my SCCU accounts to sync automatically with my Quicken as it has for many years. Since being pushed to the new site, I have to enter every transaction manually which costs a lot of time. I pay for Quicken so it is easy to keep my accounts balanced but it doesn't work if SCCU can not communicate with it. They apologized to me 2 months ago for this issue, but it is still not fixed. I have been with spacecoast for over 15 years when on January 31 st I found out space coast willfully reported 3 late charges on my credit report claiming that it was not their error. When I reached out to their credit department they sent me around in circles and never got back to me. They claimed they called me however did not provide me with any evidence. Looks like Spacecoast has a history of doing dirty business to customers. This is very unethical and down right SHAMEFUL for a bank who claims they care about their customers. If there was a 1/4 star rating I would give to them ! I am closing all my accounts and all my family members who I introduced to spacecoast will be closing their account also. BEWARE!! I can't even pay extra principle on my mortgage loan without having to do a transfer from my normal bank to my SCCU account. Then I have come back after the transfer goes through and transfer from my SCCU account to my mortgage account. Avoid this institution like the plague. It took months of back and forth to secure a lease buyout loan for our car. Despite terrible communication and vague information about a changing interest rate, we pushed ahead to just get it over with. Mind you, they say their scope of operation includes Hillsborough County, and they've had our address for TWO MONTHS now. It's the final step of the process and we are set to sign the dotted line, and they inform us the day of that it needs to happen in person, and the closest branch to me is TWO AND A HALF HOURS AWAY. Oh, and the kicker is that they're only open M-F from 9am-3pm. Its 2023, when there are mobile notaries, fax machines, email, online signatures, etc. But this company insists on living in 2003. Trust these reviews and look elsewhere. read more

I have a home equity line of credit of $100k on a house valued at $990k with a small balance owed $1500 the 7 year term expired I was given an extra 7 years to pay it off , at the same interest rate My home owners insurance went up by $5k , so I increased my deductible to $10k I was told by the CU that the change is not acceptable I have 3 choices , pay off the balance , reduce the deductible back to $5k or accept a forced place insurance My point is , in this day and age this CU operates with very little consideration for its customers , so be careful I'm a member for 35 years, just moved my savings read more

Did you know that Space Coast Credit Union is the THIRD largest credit union in Florida, with over $4 BILLION in assets? I now have a better understanding why! As part of a cooperative network of Shared Branch Locations, non-members can conduct ATM transactions when out of town at participating locations. I needed to make a cash withdrawal today, and I chose one of the SCCU ATM machine locations in Melbourne for that transaction. . First off, I am NOT a member of SCCU. I have been a loyal member/customer of a much smaller credit union for over 30 years. I have no intention of going anywhere else, and now I certainly would never consider Space Coast Credit Union! The reason? I was charged a $4.00 fee just for using this 'participating' ATM! I do not mind paying a reasonable fee for the convenience, but a fee of FOUR DOLLARS is excessive, in my opinion. This is NOT conducive towards a goodwill feeling for non-members. I agreed to the fee, only because of time constraints, otherwise I would have cancelled and walked on! Think about fees and extraneous charges when deciding where to manage your finances. read more

Terrible experience with this bank. If you apply for a car loan and get approved they will report it to the credit bureaus even though you didn't buy the car. They don't take it off your report so you'll have to dispute it with the credit reporting agencies. Absolute waste of time. read more

I applied for an auto refi, I gave them information about the car and my financial. The person handling was communicating through the process. She HAD the car info and all. They gave me an approval for the amount ask. Then the last thing after pulling my credit and all they ask " hi, we just need the VIN to complete the loan," I send them the VIN and the next day they declined the loan. The person who was handling my loan just ghost me with out any even the curtesy to tell me they declined the loan after all of that. You could have easily determine the value of the car WAY before all this effort when the info is all published. I applied for a few options they either ask you for a VIN or PLATE in the beginning. It's not private info you need the social to access. Very unprofessional and waste of time. read more

My other two banking institutions show my transactions immediately as pending and posted by next business day. I have been a member of Space Coast Credit Union for more than 25 years (my kids are members, my parents are members). My daughter, now 21, applied for the Healthcare Heroes Auto Loan (1.89% APR) since she works in the medical field in one the hotspots in Florida (South Florida). The communication was nil; we had to contact SCCU to get any information we needed. One month later, still waiting for written approval letter. Knowing that a pre-approval only lasts 30-days, we were in a hurry to purchase a vehicle before her pre-approval expired. We found a vehicle and got the approval letter emailed after we called and requested it. The dealer was a "preferred lender," so the paperwork was done on-site. Then we waited, and waited. We called and we waited. Crickets. When we finally got in touch with Space Coast, we were told that my daughter's loan was not approved for the health heroes auto loan and her loan went through at the regular pre-owned vehicle rate. This is the first we heard of this. We budgeted for the APR of the Healthcare Heroes APR, now we are getting bait and switched. The our loan officer tells us that the terms of the health care heroes were changing as they go. WHAT? I saved the advertisement and she qualified for the loan. Nowhere did it say she must work in a hospital. She is working in what is considered a "COVID-19 hot-zone." He then proceeded to re-run the credit and try to get her the loan- even though it expired in May (which is why we were in a hurry). I requested to speak to manager, which I believe said to honor the 1.89% APR, when the loan officer got back on the phone, denies such approval. So we are now offered a 4.79% APR, no thank you. We were approved for 1.89%. These deceiving, deceptive, fraudulent, misleading, shady, and flat-out false advertising tactics will lose your customers. They are NOT the members credit union, by any means. Their deceptive practices have gone on for way too long and this is the last straw. I will pull all my money out and advise my family and friends to do the same. read more

Checking and Savings are ok; however how they about loan is unethical and dangerous if you have a Real Estate contract with a deposit that you stand to lose as their loan department takes forever and misleads you. I'm still disappointed that SCCU's loan department ethics did not follow Fannie Mae guidelines as they said and just lied. I qualified for the loan I applied for, but it was not in SCCU best interest to grant the loan because interest rates were going up at that time (they took forever to process my application). I checked all the guidelines and I complied. At the 11th hour after misleading me that everything was ok, SCCU said that I was not compliant because I had filed for extension on my tax return (the guidelines allow for this as long as the other year's tax returned are provided). I checked with a lawyer and I was right. Because of SCCU taking so long, I had to pay to extend the Real Estate contract in order to avoid losing my deposit and I also had close in a rush using a hard-money lender at a much higher interest rate (SCCU used up all the time available and this was my only quick option or lose my deposit even after the extension I paid). SCCU acted in bad faith because with the same parameters I was well qualified with other lenders (everyone uses FannieMae/FreddyMac); but SCCU kept insisting to give them a shot and so I made the mistake of trying with them. For the last 32 years I have closed on many, many loans (not my 1st rodeo, I have a lot of experience with loan processes) with different lenders and never have I been exposed to such lack of professionalism. I've worked for fortune 500 companies and although nobody is perfect and mistakes happen, we always focused on making the customer whole and this was the success factor which creates customer loyalty. However SCCU and its customer care, management, and up those up the ladder does not seem to understand this... specially in a competitive environment such as banking. They took my application pulled my credit and then told me we couldn't get the loan until we've been in the house for 6 months. Why didn't they tell me that before I applied?
