However, restaurants service need to improve: we experienced several small issues (excessive waiting, mixed orders, etc) which are not acceptable considering the rates that are charged.

My problem with this spa was that it isn't a spa really but more of an (expensive) public pools. So I took my spouse and two daughters. Parking is 2,50€, admission is 25€ per person. Want a chair? That's more. No towels. No robes. And the changing room is a locker room without soaps or shampoos and wall mounted blow dryers. The pools are all one temp. I had a spa service Oil Massage and it was relaxing, but there isn't a respect at all for modesty (yes she walks around and leaves you all uncovered) and after I was told don't shower for 30 min. I had to ask for water and the "relax room" is just a waiting room with some magazines. I was done by then. There was no tour when we arrived so we never found the Turkish Baths. But I wouldn't think that would be enough to redeem the 280€ I dropped for 2 hrs of spa. Instead, I suggest you drive down the road in the late afternoon and use the public pools that are natural waterfalls and streams, and a very picturesque location. Pack a picnic, bring a towel and robe and enjoy the spring and the people watching. For free. I've included pics of the free location.

There was a large paid parking lot down the street just a few mins walk from the pools. We parked here and hiked our beach bag in with us. You can get a locker for about 5 euros so we did that after changing so we could have free range of the pools. Theres also free bathrooms and a locker/showrt room. There is also a spot here to buy snacks and drinks if you want, or you could bring your own. The pools were impressive with a gorgeous cascade of natural pools of various sizes. The water cascades into the river below, and there were locals and tourists both enjoying the pools and relaxing with snacks on the riverside. The water was a good temperature, not too hot for a hot Italian summer day but also not at all cold. The sulfur smell was also not overwhelming. They are very rocky though and watershoes would be a good idea. Also important to note that these are a natural feature, so they aren't treated with chemicals or anything. There are lots of people mingling in them. There are also insects and whatnot that live in and around them, so be prepared for buggies. When we were there, some larvae must have just hatched cause there were squirmy red worms everywhere my finicky husband didn't love.

Thermal waters are free and open all year round. Large parking lot is also free. There is also a casual restaurant on site if you are hungry but I didn't grab any food. There is a bathroom and showers but you need coins for the showers and the 2 bathrooms don't have toilet paper and are pretty gross so be prepared. Suggestions: Go at sunrise or sunset for views but it is also less crowded at those times. Bring towels, bathing suit, water and snacks.

There is a large parking lot about a 2 blocks away (5 minute walk). Open 24/7 but must pay starting at 8am. 2€ per hour. Went there twice in the same day. Came back around 10AM and there were 2-3 people there. This place is FREE. The outdoor snack bar was not opened. We came dressed to get into the water, ah perfect temperature. So have no idea what the dressing room was like nor did we use the bathroom. Oh and bring water shoes. This place is about 3 hours south of Florence, a very nice drive through Tuscany. I will return to Saturnia soon. If I lived here, I would frequent this place 2-3 times weekly.
