When entering the lobby of the Cenote spa, my fiancé and I were greeted with friendly faces, and offered relaxing tea as we filled out our guest forms. We were then shown around the spa to look at the gorgeous lap pool, waiting area with complementary refreshments and snacks, including but not limited to dry fruits, herbal teas, cold, water, and other light snacks. We were then taken to the separate men's and women's locker rooms, where I was given a tour of all the amenities located in the women's locker room and he the men's. There was hot and cold, plunge pools, a steam and dry, sauna along with individual private lockers, equipped with plush robes and unlimited towels. There was also ample restrooms and showers available for use. After getting in a couple laps at the lap pool, we migrated over to the Cenote itself. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing. There were chairs and daybeds to lounge, as well as the relaxing pool that was beneath the open skylight. The skylight is in fact, a staple piece in the outdoor lobby of the resort. There was relaxing music, and beautiful lights, which was perfect while waiting for our treatments. My fiancé and I got an 80 minute couples massage and our services were performed by Yessica and Rosalba! These ladies were absolutely amazing and very professional. Afterwards, I had a blowout and style with Jocelyn at the Cenote Salon located just outside the spa lobby. Jocelyn met me in the lobby of the spa, and walked me over to the salon, where I had my hair washed, blown out and styled in a timely manner. The look itself lasted me for days, which was perfect since the last thing you wanna do is your hair while on vacation. The Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen was an amazing resort to vacation at and the spa made it 10x better! Not only was the property itself gorgeous with a beautiful beachfront view, the Cenote Spa really immersed its guests with full relaxation, surrounded by the natural beauty that Cenotes have to offer. I cannot wait for my next vacation at this property and I definitely cannot wait for the next time I get a treatment at this breath taking spa!
This was the best massage and spa experience I've ever had ! The massages are pricey but very much worth it ! They put rose pedals on the floor for you to look at if you want to open your eyes during the massage, the little details like that were really nice ! Anyway I got the Swedish massage and it was truly the best massage I've ever had, so relaxing ! The amenities are top tier ! The hot tub and cool water tub were really nice, the showers were amazing with nice views, and the cenote pool was to die for ! 10/10 experience, would definitely come back!
I decided to book a massage for me and my friend on our last day there. And I'm so happy I did. This place delivers on all levels. Cecilia, the massage therapist was very caring and attentive. We took the advantage the sauna and pools. We probably would have stayed longer but we had to get to the airport. Can't wait to come back!
Cenote. Technically defined as a "sinkhole" . . . . but lest you start thinking of the huge holes that open on the freeway and swallow up cars, a cenote in this part of the world are nature inspired grottos formed from collapsed limestone exposing underground pools of azure blue hidden under tendrils of cascading plants. This spa is lovely. And be sure to take note of the "man made" cenote in the center of the spa where you wait for your treatment. It swirls up to ground level (the spa is on the lower level of the hotel) with the dark blue pool below and the light filtering in from the ceiling. Hard to describe but beautiful to witness. This spa has a wide range of services and includes a private lap pool with lounge chairs and tables, separate sauna and "wet areas" for both men and women and provided robes (no sandals so bring your own if you don't want to walk around barefoot). The staff at the spa are exceptionally nice, from the greeter at the desk, to the women who works the locker room to the therapists. All professional, all skilled at their respective tasks. And the treatment rooms are lovely. Each opening out to the central area, they have a window to the outside garden at one end (totally private) and a bathroom within the room which was nice. I also liked that they asked what kind of music I wanted to hear during my treatment. My massage was quite good and reasonably priced. I also had my hair done by Edna at the hair salon across the hall. She did a great job on the wash and blow dry and don't worry if you don't speak Spanish as these teams work hard to get you want you want with some basic words and hand gestures on my part. (knew I should have taken Spanish back in school!) But there were a couple of things that kept this from a perfect score. First of all, if you go, I kept asking where I should wait for the therapist. And the woman kept telling me "they would find me". Not sure if it was a language issue or not but we were never directed to the "Cenote" that I mentioned above, until a wonderful employee, Gustavo (sp) found us perched on some uncomfortable chairs outside the treatment rooms and suggested we follow him to a "special place". And there hidden away was the "cenote". Ahhh . . . .now this felt like a spa experience. The other issue was the stocked supplies. They were missing basic items in the locker room like razors, hair brushes, hair products, and there was no conditioner in the shower I was in. Basic stuff but if you don't know to bring your own (which you shouldn't have to do) you walk out half put together. I mentioned this to the front desk person who was concerned about it and said they had those things, but the woman running the locker room couldn't find them. I love the idea and the natural harmony that this place offered up. It was a very relaxing experience and the employees went out of their way to make it a great spa experience! And as for that "sinkhole"? A sinkhole like that can swallow me up anytime!
We had a spa day here and it was absolutely worth it. This is probably one of the best spas (if not the best) that I have ever been to. The cenote pool is the keystone of the spa and it was extremely relaxing, unique, and beautiful. However, we also spent a good amount of time in the lap pool and in the hot tub/cold plunge. The service was impeccable throughout. We got a 50 minute massage and it was the perfect pressure and style. I would highly recommend this spa and will come back any time I'm in Playacar!
Omg!!!!!!!! By far the most up scale and beautiful spa that I have ever been to. My friend and I have appointments this Wednesday so I'll update my review in terms of how the massage and facility were. But by the looks of it, I'm sure I'll be highly impressed!!!!!!! Must try!!!! If not, atleast ask for a tour! :)
The Cenote Spa a was a really nice experience. The design is inspired by a cenote, with natural light and water features, and it creates a calm atmosphere as soon as you walk in. The service was very good, the staff were professional, friendly, and explained everything clearly. I booked a treatment and it was done with care, which made it easy to relax. Afterward, I spent time enjoying the pools and sauna. The whole space was clean, well kept, and not too crowded. Overall, the Cenote Spa has good service, a beautiful design, and a quiet atmosphere that makes it worth visiting in Playa del Carmen. read more

Disappointed 07/25: We've visited this spa multiple times in the past and generally had a very positive experience. However, this time was deeply disappointing due to poor service, reduced amenities, and a lack of transparency upon Hyatt Spa staff. I'm changing my 5-star review from the last visit to 1 stars due to this experience. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves transparency, service consistency, and facility upkeep. Here are the major issues we encountered: * Hot tub was not working in the women's area. The hot plunge was completely lukewarm. Staff insisted it worked. Another guest using it also complained. They did nothing about it. Sadly, this was not disclosed to us at check-in. For a spa that advertises Korean hot and cold plunges--known for stimulating blood circulation and metabolism--this is a major failure. You can't do hot and cold plunges without two extreme temps. For some reason in Mexico, they don't heat the Jacuzzi or the hot plunge. They need to learn from Onsen spas in Thailand and Japan what this therapy must do. * Ladies room: Broken locker locks. Locker no 15 was not working. This pic is another locker without a lock. I had to tell the woman I need another locker so they move me to locker number 10. raising both convenience and security concerns. When you come to a five star hotel, you expect quality not a rundown place. * No floor maintenance in wet areas: In the women's area, no staff were present to mop wet floors, which creates a clear safety hazard of slipping. It appears that staffing has been cut back. * Shower inside the wet sauna is broken: The shower in the wet sauna did not work, making it difficult to cool off or rinse properly after a sauna session. * Unjustified and inconsistent restaurant discount policy: On a previous visit, spa guests received a 30% discount at the upstairs restaurant. This time, I was told that it was a "mistake" and that only members--not guests--receive the discount. To make matters worse, I was charged approximately $70 USD for just a simple 2 eggs, 1 slice of sour dough, I coffee, 1 orange juice, spaghetti. A spoon of chicken was charged 80 pesos separately. The manager gal came over and began speaking in English 'firmly' repeating that I'm not a member and therefore not eligible for the discount & that last time was a mistake. I don't appreciate surprise charges or policy shifts that aren't communicated in advance--Consistency matters. * Loss of special ambiance and amenities: * The cenote room no longer features the alternating red and blue light therapy or cascading greens which added a unique therapeutic atmosphere. * The herbal water station has been no water likely to avoid the need for staff to manage it. * High cost for poor value: We were charged 1,900 pesos for two people--approximately $100 USD--which is a premium price. I'm willing to pay that if the services are fully functional and the experience delivers on what's promised. But when key features are broken, amenities are stripped away, and I'm being misinformed or overcharged, it's simply not worth it. The spa may have a unique offering in the area, but relying on that while cutting corners and surprising loyal customers with unexpected changes is not sustainable. Even loyal customers won't return if they feel taken advantage of. My son just told me that in the men's the wet sauna was not working. When he complained they fixed it. The people are not gonna bring up the problems. This place is gonna get rundown because the owners are nicking people to just make money. 08/05/25: Instead of fixing the issues the Hyatt management decided to close off spa use to walk ins making it only for hotel guests. That really tells you something. Sudden shift in policy? Good luck to hotel guests who will be scammed now upon a sight unseen sold to them as part of their $400 a night package. read more

Everything was incredible! Massage by Ericka and Ana will surely leave you relaxed and at ease. From the hot tub, sauna, lap pool, service, or cenote mineral spa you won't be disappointed. Prices vary from $80-200 there is something for everyone. read more

Words cannot express how amazing this spa is. Beyond anyone's expectations. As an interior designer, aesthetics are extremely important to me, and this spa amazed me at every turn. Aside from the surprise cenote spa, the customer service was amazing. We were offered a private tour before we booked any service, which then led to me booking every day of my trip. I loved every experience of this spa. MUST DO! read more
