We were headed to Playa for Christmas and my husband booked us a 90 minute massage as part of my Christmas gift. I'm not sure how he found Mia, but I'm sure glad he did. We had a 10:30 appointment and walked in a little early. The location was easy to find and it was very clean. They had a room set up for us with both beds ready to go. And wow. I've had a lot of massages, all over the world....most masseuses know my traps are the problem but idk what the masseuse here felt that others didn't, but she really got in there without it being super painful and focused on the whole area. I was the most relaxed I think I've ever felt in my shoulders. I just wish I was local so I could go back again and again because for $100? It was more than worth it. The rest of the massage was great too, full body and didn't miss a detail. I really loved the scalp and facial massage. My husband recently tore his AC joint and his masseuse did an awesome job still getting in there without touching his injury. Overall, an amazing stat to our Christmas Eve and a top notch massage. Found them on google. Booked online. Got there with a bit of skepticism but boy, they delivered. Me and my wife signed up for couples massage. Paid $5 more per person for deep tissue. There was no hidden fees, all are disclosed on their site. Got there, was greeted with friendly staff. Everyone was Dressed professionally and cleanly. We got started with the massage on time and it was darn good. So good we went back the next day again. I'm not sure if this place is consider expensive compared to all those massage places who solicits you while you walk down the tourist traps, but I definitely feel safer and more comfortable with Mia Spa. Booking: I had some questions before booking and they were quick and responsive via WhatsApp; then booking the actual appointment was a breeze since I was able to do it online, and it was confirmed shortly after via email. Pricing was very reasonable and definitely better than the nearby hotels, though with this expectation that this spa would have fewer/no frills compared to resort spas. I liked that it's smaller than the hotel spa, so there was more personalized attention. Staff: The staff and service were all excellent - i.e., the front desk and massage therapists (Liz and Nahomi). The treatment included a 90-minute massage, body scrub and chocolate wrap, and a facial. There is a shower in the room, so it's easy to clean off from the exfoliation and chocolate. Pamela ensured modesty by holding up towels and making sure private parts were covered. The treatment lasted about three hours, then I had time to enjoy my champagne and chocolate. I received 10% off since it was my second service. Again, I found Mia Spa easy to book, transparent with their prices, clean and calming, everything you want in a spa experience. I've had several massages in the US and was expecting similar things but it turned out to be quite different. The room was quite chilly (the a/c was on in December) and we only had a towel covering us so it was hard to relax. There was no table warmer either. My masseuse was very thoughtful and made me comfortable. I was expecting her to ask me about the areas she'd like me to focus on but never did. So.... I get massages all over the world all the time. It's my guilty pleasure. This massage from ALMA was AMAZING and arguably one of the best massages I have had. I did something to myself (slept funny--who knows) but I've been really stiff and I work at a computer so my traps and shoulders are normally pretty tense. I had a 90 min deep tissue and she got into everything in my neck, my traps, my shoulders (even stretched my rotator cuff). Most places just kind of do your shoulders a little or your traps a little because it's hard to work when lying down but she did an AMAZING job. Moved my arms so she could get into all my different muscles. AND I was able to get a same day walk in appointment during a very busy time in Playa Del Carmen. The spa itself is very nice with wood accents and a nice ambiance. Super excited about finding this place. There are some other cheaper places on the beach in PDC that I read about but this place was still reasonably priced compared to US. And I highly doubt the other places have a massage therapist as well trained in technique as Alma. Definitely give this place a try. read more

We booked an appointment online for a couples massage at 2 pm, the place is right around the corner from our hotel, and the ladies were ready for us at said time. We were taken to a room upstairs, and the ladies that did the massages for us was Lucero and Mary. They did a really good job with our deep tissue service, and it also came with a sheet mask. It was truly a full body massage as they worked on me from head to toe, and I've never had a massage that gave me a sheet mask too which I can appreciate. The walls and the place aren't really soundproof, so you can hear people talking downstairs and when the police drove by with the sirens I heard it too, but it's not a dealbreaker especially since the massage is relaxing and much needed. My partner even fell asleep during the massage. I can also appreciate them trying to speak English, and thankfully I knew a word or two in Spanish. They also accept credit cards, and I'm also glad that I asked if tip was added to the total because we didn't have enough pesos on us to pay in cash. They also served us water and invited us back for future services. They gave us a business card with a number that's on WhatsApp which is also convenient. I'd recommend Mia Spa to anyone in the area looking for a healing session. read more
