I wanted to respond to the owner's response on Yelp but was unable to, so I am posting an update to my review. The owner did send a text message to my personal phone on April 21st. I'm assuming they pulled my number from their internal database. I did respond to the message, but not until April 24th, and then never heard back. I thanked them for reaching out, but after reading their Yelp response, I was a little taken aback by the tone. It seems as if they are apologetic but are trying to justify the situation instead of just saying sorry. The response I received via text and their response on my review seem to have two totally different tones. Honestly, I'm just confused. The purpose of my original review was because I paid for a relaxing facial and felt disrespected after my appointment. The tone of the Yelp response is in the same tone as my experience that day. I had my second Cool Restore procedure today with Marci. We are working on tightening my abdominal muscles as I had abdominal surgery in April and have 3 large scars. The Cool Restore has significantly reduced the scar tissue and smoothed out the skin, but the best part is , after the procedure I put my shorts back on and they fell off my body!! Marcy also greeted me, and her massage eased all the pain from years of lifting my disabled daughter. I was in dire need of a massage after a long flight and the usual stress that traveling professionals endure. Larry, the massage therapist was INCREDIBLE!! Wait, let me back up. First of all the aromatherapy in the facility will have you wanting to spend a night! Hints of lavender and natural calming scents made the experience memorable. Now back to Larry... for those of you that are not open to a male masseuse, you are denying your body the ultimate massage experience. Why would you want to leave this earth without ever having gotten a massage from Larry. It would be pointless to not experience heaven on earth!! Wow! I was in pain when I walked in.. lots of back pain and I was praying that the massage would help. Not only was it the greatest massage of my life, but all of the pain areas were relieved. It was AMAZING!! After the massage, I was escorted to a waiting room and given water and a therapeutic neck wrap (the kind that's filled with warm beads)... not sure of the official name but for the sake of this post, let's call it the awesome neck wrap!! It was an excellent addition to the experience!! Larry sat with me for a few minutes and we chatted. Afterwards, Marci the owner came out and we chatted. The massage was not worth the price they charge and they were extremely disrespectful to me when I forgot to use my gift card I had gotten from someone to put towards the massage. They claimed there was "no going back because it was already processed" but I have worked in the restaurant business and I know it is definitely possible to give me a refund and then have me repay with the gift card. I found a really awesome deal on Groupon and decided to give them a try! The service was amazing and incredibly relaxing. Ginger and Victoria were kind, professional, and really good at their jobs. The facial used a citrus peel, which the first few minutes feel like an intense sunburn. I was constantly asked if it was too painful or too intense so we could take it off and remove it. Hands down Spa 131 has been on of the best spa experiences I've ever had. The shop is beautifully decorated in shades of grey, white and silver. It's really relaxing and calm. Marci and her staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. I have enjoyed every service at their facility from manicures to facials. However, my special treat had to be my massages by Byron. I enjoy heated massages and tried the hot stones massage first. When I arrived, the room was dimly lit, with music playing, and a massage table in the middle. Byron asked if there was anything was physically wrong or hurting before I undressed to prepare. I told him that I had calf, plantar fascia, and low back pain. He exited the room and allowed me to undress. I got comfortable under a sheet on the massage table. He reentered the room shortly after that and got to work. Between the heat from the hot stones and Byron's therapy skills I felt comfortable and relaxed. I think that's important to mention because many ladies I know won't go to a male masseuse. Bryon was always professional, used draping, and never lingered inappropriately. Also, he's stronger than most women and I appreciated that strength during my bodywork sessions. I never had to ask for more pressure or even deep tissue. His normal body work was not painful and helped with much. Because I love the heated massages, I later tried the MuXing massage and realized I was in love. The warm bamboo and rosewood tools allowed Byron to adjust to any pressure I wanted from super firm to barely there. The heat was incredible! I wasted to go every week. If I could afford it, I would have been there every day! Incidentally, I discovered that regular massages paid off in unexpected ways. My back hurt less so I was able to exercise more. My plantar fascia pain began to dissipate. I realized one day that I was walking without pain and no longer had to use daily medication for inflammation. My calf muscles were less tense and my gait improved. I never realized how beneficial bodywork could be until I moved away. After a month passed without a massage, all those physical pains slowly began to come back. I don't know if I'll find someone in my new town who was good as Byron was. I'm not sure if the spa will be as beautiful or the owner so sweet. But I will hunt for one. read more

I called Spa 131 desperate for a spray tan the day of a bachelorette party. I left a voicemail asking about cancellations for the morning. The ladies at Spa 131 called me right back with a last minute opening - they were so accommodating to my needs and worked with me to get me an appointment. Marci did a great job talking me through airbrush tanning since it was my first experience. Everyone there was so kind, the facility was beautiful and the tan was gorgeous when it developed. Managed to get a last-minute appointment for a spray tan during prom week (unbeknownst to me), and thought I had scored big with all the great reviews I had read about this place. When I arrived (15 min early), the workers were obviously very frazzled and overwhelmed, as there were walk-ins who had probably been waiting awhile. My appointment started 45 min. after I got there, and the lady who did mine was nice, but looking back, she didn't ask me any questions about what level of tan I was looking to get. As a pale blonde, I was only looking for a natural glow for my college graduation pictures- I've had spray tans before and the . Instead, I was given a heavy spray and sent on my way. She didn't lotion my elbows, knees, or hands, and I ended up looking like a "burnt chicken nugget" after showering multiple times- exact words of my coworkers. Luckily my photographer said she can edit my pictures to make me look normal, but I was still shocked with the results. It might have been a better experience if it wasn't the Wednesday before prom, but if I make an appointment for a service I expect it to be done right. Robin gave me an amazing deep tissues hot stone massage. She was professional, attentive and truly listened to my needs. It was one of the best massages I have had which includes services at the Ritz Carlton in Arlington, Va, The Four Seasons in DC, The Borgata in Atlantic City and Yelo on Fifth Ave in NYC.Once my massage was comoleted the great service did not end. I was allowed just to rest in the room. And was given a heated neck wrap to continue the relaxation. Robin continuously checked in with us to ensure we didnt need anything i.e. more water, snacks, etc. From the reception to the end of the experience in the tranquility room, our expectations were exceeded. She seems distracted as if she has better places to be and rushes through the service..which is reflected in the quality of the end product. Not sure how this place gets such high reviews. I purchased two Groupons for my wedding anniversary; called and made arrangement and let them know that I had a Groupon as it states on the website. When I got there I was told that myself and my husband could only get two massages because we weren't scheduled for facials which is what I relayed when I made the phone call. The only response that I got from the lady at the desk was I could reschedule to a later date. Which happened to be two weeks later!!!!We both took off from work early expecting a facial and massage. I was very upset. This made me wish that I would have gone with my original plan of going out of town to a reputable and trustworthy spa as originally planned. At that point I had no other option and was very disappointed that they never tried to correct the situation by making it right somehow. Also, when I originally called to schedule, the lady who answered the phone was less than pleasing and basically demanded my Groupon numbers! Who does that? That information should not be requested until the day the service is received! Lesson learned! Next year we will be going where I KNOW we will be treated like we matter and the customer service and atmosphere is top notch. Also, we were told to come early to fill out paperwork, but why? We arrived 15mins. early only to sit in the waiting area for a total of 35 mins. until we were taken to have ONE service performed. The girls working seemed more interested in talking and laughing instead of not having us wait unnecessarily. I had every intention not to give a tip, but decided it wasnt their fault that management needs to do a better job of managing. As the old saying goes, "You get what you pay for!"
