This is another parking space located in downtown San Antonio. One of the easier parking spaces to locate, it can be spotted by a green sign that says "The South Bank Public Parking". My friend/fellow Yelper Karen and I used this parking spot as it was conveniently located between two areas that we had to attend events at throughout the evening. However for locals and tourists this parking spot is notable because it is one of the few parking options that are close to the River Walk. The pricey rates reflect this convenience. RATES 0-2 hours: $12 2-4 hours: $15 4 hours-daily rate: $18 As such this parking spot is best utilized for longer outings. If you spend 8 hours in downtown San Antonio parking is $2.25/hr. This is plenty of time to do two of San Antonio's most notable tourist activities: the Alamo and a stroll/river cruise in the River Walk. For a cheaper parking spot for short-term parking (less than 8 hours), I would suggest the Travis Lot: https://www.yelp.com/biz/sp-parking-san-antonio?hrid=7fKYAx8DVZkI22eUcSHqx Notables - One of the bigger outdoor parking lots. Contains around 150 spaces. - Cash/credit accepted.

Rip off, no mercy for being 1 minute late, then slap you with a few of over 200% the original parking cost. Stay away from everything SP+

Rates and pricing is very inconsistent, so not use this place to park. Wish I could give it a -star rating..

A little pricey, but otherwise easy in and out. Great access to Riverwalk and Alamo

When exiting we needed assistance bc machine was asking for ticket. We requested support there was an agent that we spoke to and told them the situation. 1) she made it sound like we were confused on using the same card when exiting this was our only credit card to pay to exit garage. WE WERE OVERCHARGED 37.89 FOR A LOTS TICKET!!! WTF our credit card was our ticket. We were parked there less than 1.5 hrs. 2) Really diss appointed that agent did not understand our situation. Also the receipt states that we entered at 8:57 and departed at 8:57 INACCURATE!!!! Be cautious make sure you to don't have this issue and being overcharged!

This parking garage truly deserves their one star rating. If there's a reason why locals do not go…read moreto downtown is because of parking garages like this one. First of all, this parking garage is located near the Frost Bank tower in the same building as the downtown Chick-fil-A. There's only one entrance to this garage and you need your credit card in order to access the garage (that should've been red flag #1). Their rate is 0 - 1hr $6 and then it jumps to $14 for 1-3 hours. The building itself is very small with very tight turns. If you have a large truck or an SUV I wouldn't even recommend trying to get in here because it will be difficult and you might end up scratching your tires during the turns. Long story short, I ended up staying a little bit over an hour and had to pay their ridiculous $14 fee and I wasn't even able to get a receipt for my payment. Needless to say, I will not be parking here ever again.

When I drove into the area back on May 25, 2025, I was taken aback by how much this area of San…read moreAntonio had changed. The street that I remember driving in front of the Alamo many years ago is now non-existent! I am really digging the Alamo Plaza, though. From what I understand, the plan is to make it entirely pedestrian-friendly - no more vehicular traffic. Thus, much of the surrounding area is still under construction, but most areas in front of the Alamo are safe. This plaza is not the same as the Plaza de Valero, which is in front of Menger Hotel. Just ensure to wear loose, breathable clothing and drink plenty of water on the really warm to hot Texas days... a young lady in a tour group I was in passed out and hit her head on the concrete of the plaza. She (or rather her boyfriend) refused medical attention. I don't know if she's okay now, but it seemed serious at the time. PARKING I think your best bet with all the ongoing construction would be at the Rivercenter Parking Garage. TIP The building west of the Alamo will be the new Alamo Visitor Center and Museum. A grand opening for 2027 has been slated.

While the Alamo itself is rich in history, I prefer people-watching myself. And boy howdy, is there people watching here! While on my visit, I was enjoying a dish of ice cream, curtesy of one of the shops along the street, when I was able to get my fix of religion. There was a street preacher, or perhaps someone who just wanted to be a street preacher, yelling out scripture and nonsense. It didn't take long for him to be escorted to the end of the street by the police officers who where there patrolling on their bikes. Too bad, I was ready to repent and convert. The plaza provides lots of shade with several large trees and a little bit of seating on benches and concrete walls surrounding the landscape. Most of the shops along the street are geared toward tourists (souvenir shops, overpriced oddity museums and some eateries.) It's worth a visit for a while, but you might find better, less expensive options, a few blocks away.
