This parking garage truly deserves their one star rating. If there's a reason why locals do not go to downtown is because of parking garages like this one. First of all, this parking garage is located near the Frost Bank tower in the same building as the downtown Chick-fil-A. There's only one entrance to this garage and you need your credit card in order to access the garage (that should've been red flag #1). Their rate is 0 - 1hr $6 and then it jumps to $14 for 1-3 hours. The building itself is very small with very tight turns. If you have a large truck or an SUV I wouldn't even recommend trying to get in here because it will be difficult and you might end up scratching your tires during the turns. Long story short, I ended up staying a little bit over an hour and had to pay their ridiculous $14 fee and I wasn't even able to get a receipt for my payment. Was downtown and one restaurant suggested parking in this garage. We were overcharged while at first entry we used our car. When exiting we needed assistance bc machine was asking for ticket. We requested support there was an agent that we spoke to and told them the situation. 1) she made it sound like we were confused on using the same card when exiting this was our only credit card to pay to exit garage. WE WERE OVERCHARGED 37.89 FOR A LOTS TICKET!!! WTF our credit card was our ticket. We were parked there less than 1.5 hrs. 2) Really diss appointed that agent did not understand our situation. Also the receipt states that we entered at 8:57 and departed at 8:57 INACCURATE!!!! Be cautious make sure you to don't have this issue and being overcharged! read more

Wish I had read the prior reviews. The Rand Garage is running the same scam this month as it did last month. I prepaid for event parking to see a show at the Empire Theater. The machine at the entrance refused to accept the scan code of five cars before me, so I was not surprised when my scan code failed to work. The only way I could get in (with the 10-20 cars waiting in the street behind me) was to use my credit card. The gate opened but no ticket was dispensed. When I exited I tried to call for help on the exit gate. My call was answered, and the woman immediately hung up on me. I had to use my credit card again. I was charged ~$38.00 for overnight parking. This is as dishonest an operation as there is in the city. They should be hauled into courts as criminals. DO NOT USE THIS PARKING IF YOU VALUE YOUR PROPERTY. read more

Purchased tickets for Bill Maher thru Ticketmaster with parking at Rand Garage on Soledad St. Not able to scan QR code. Had to pay for additional parking and it I took about 25 minutes to clear the parking garage. Not good. read more

I paid in full when I entered using a credit card. When I tried to leave with the same credit card it was not accepted even though I was charged a full day of parking. The attendant said to use another credit card and I would be refunded. I paid $37 including tax for the second time to get my car out of the garage, and now they aren't refunding me. We used this parking garage and paid with credit card and ticket machine didn't print out ticket stub (only one card we carry). At exiting we paid full amount (38.00) bucks . Hit the help button and after a 5 minute conversation with the peeps at the other end said that we lost ticket stub and we were charged the full amount of 38.00 and we asked why the full amount since your machine never printed a stub. This company seems to take your money at a higher end amount and never works with the public. My friend went through the same issue some time back. This place is awful! They get one star for cleanliness. Otherwise I wouldn't give them any f*ing stars! We thought we paid for 2 days but were charged each time we left the garage. They do not provide tickets but instead you are forced to use your credit/debit card each time you enter and depart the garage. It's outrageous. Callng them is a joke. No one answers. This post is somewhat of a novel but I still can't believe my experience at this garage. So here it is... I was staying at the hotel across the street Friday- Sunday. I decided to park here because their sign said $25 a night for overnight parking. This seemed like a deal because the hotel wanted $40 a night. At the entrance, they have a pay machine. I selected the date I would be leaving and it printed a pay receipt with the dates selected. After I parked and took a closer look at my ticket, it said the parking fee was $1,039.36. I checked my bank app and yep. Sure enough I had a charge for ONE THOUSAND THIRTY NINE DOLLARS AND THIRTY SIX CENTS. There is no parking garage attendant and no security guard. Just a number on their sign that does not allow you to leave a voice mail and asks you to call back when they are open Mon. - Fri. between 9am and 3pm. After a small panic attack and getting over the feeling of feeling straight robbed, I called my bank and they adjusted the over charge for me. After the first night of leaving my car there, I decided to move it bc I no longer felt comfortable parking there. I parked at Houston street garage which was just a 4 min walk away. So if you would like to park for 2 night for under $1,000 then I would suggest trying Houston Street Parking Garage. They have parking for $10 a night and they always have a parking garage attendant there. read more

Bought a voucher through Ticketmaster for Hamilton. No one could get into this garage without paging for help. It was taking several mins per car to get in. We had to park elsewhere because we were so late. I would not recommend this garage to anyone. Stay far far away. read more

I held off on my review pending whether or not Rand was going to "make it right". Well they did...BUT....it was to their advantage not mine and not the resolution I requested. I originally purchased a pass well in advance (for $11.00) for the Earth, Wind & Fire event at the Majestic Theater on 9/15/21. On that evening, it took 30 minutes to get in (because no one knew how to work the machine). Funny how you purchase a parking pass but still have to insert a credit card just to get into the garage. After the event, it took over 45 minutes to get out of the garage. And then the machine wasn't accepting the purchased pass QR code. The employees indicated that all we had to do was call the # on the machine/receipt and request a refund for the parking amount of $19.49. I called and emailed and after a lot of back and forth.....they issued a refund. HOWEVER, they refunded the pass amount of $11.00 instead of the $19.49 paid on the night of the event. How convenient! They still get more that what they were entitled to. This garage is a total SCAM!!!! Avoid it at all cost....because it will cost YOU more in the end. UPDATE!!! THEY DID CORRECT THE AMOUNT REFUNDED TO THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF $19.49!!! read more

Bought parking through Ticketmaster for Bill Maher. Had to call through help button because scanner would not read the QR code on my phone. The employee who answered asked us what our code was and we were allowed in. After we got out of the venue we sat waiting to exit for 45 minutes and the scanner did the same thing. We had to call for help again but this time the employee insisted we had to pay for a lost ticket because she couldn't help us. $37.69 extra on top of the $16.00 we initially paid through Ticketmaster. No stars!! After leaving the Majestic tonight, I was the fourth car to try to exit. The first car was there for about 5-6 minutes continually trying to get the credit reader to lift his gate. I mentioned to my passenger I hope this doesn't happen to us. He finally got the gate to lift. The next two cars had some kind of voucher that was read by a bar code and opened immediately. As luck would have it when I got to the gate and put my credit card in ( the same one for entering) nothing happened. I tried it in every position. I tried removing it quickly...I tried leaving it in. I even tried hitting LOST TICKET which makes NO sense because you don't even get a ticket. At that point it showed that it was going to charge me $38.50 but still wouldn't open!! I tried calling for help...No one answered! People behind me were trying to tell me what to do and I was really starting to panic because at this point we had seriously been there over 10 minutes!! All of a sudden it says "You are connecting with Valerie"...who never said anything, but finally after 12 minutes the gate raised. Now I have to fight to see if I can get the $38.50 back because I DID NOT LOSE A TICKET!! I have parked in this garage for many years when going to the Majestic, BUT NEVER AGAIN!! read more

Deserves less than zero stars. Have used this garage for our visits downtown for years. Since new management took over not too long ago, this parking garage has gone down the toilet. We live out of town and drove an hour one way to SA tonight to eat at our favorite Mexican restaurant across the street. This restaurant had an arrangement with previous garage mgmt for years that would reduce the cost of parking there if you got the restaurant to validate your garage ticket. You would pay your pkg fee at an automated booth inside the garage when you left by inserting your "ticket" into the machine & then paying the $ amount the machine told you to pay. System worked well. Now the new mgmt has installed a new payment system that sucks. As you pull into garage entrance off Soledad you encounter a machine a few feet off the street that forces you to insert your credit card before it will allow you to enter past the mechanical arm. Only has space for one car to pull off the street. Tonight we sat for a number of minutes behind a car that was having difficulty with the new payment machine. Since some idiot at the city decided to change formerly one way Soledad St to 2-way now, we were sitting partially on the street & thus partially blocking pedestrian traffic passing the garage entrance. Five cars backed up on the street behind us, because we were waiting for the car ahead of us to move into the garage so that we could "prepay" at the machine. The people in front of us had to call the customer service person thru the machine for help. They couldn't get in. Everybody had to back up along the street behind us, so the car ahead of us could back out. Not aware of the problem these folks had, we then got a turn at trying to park in the garage. Made multiple attempts to gain access by following the simple directions on the screen. We then called customer service lady who walked us thru the simple instructions a few more times. Machine still didn't work. The solution she ended up giving us was to "go find another place to park". So then we had to back out onto the street which we couldn't do until a line of cars behind us on the street also backed up. With opposite traffic backed up from the corner traffic light, no one could move at first. Luckily we finally found another parking space (a rare handicapped spot 3 blocks away on the street). Wasted more than 20-25 minutes just trying to get to the restaurant before they closed for the night. As we passed by the garage on way walking to the restaurant we watched several more cars pull in and then have to back out into the street just like we had to. The restaurant owner told us that people had complained to him about the same problem at the Rand Garage for the past several hours. Apparently this is a common problem at this garage. With the new hotel that opened in this block, traffic has increased significantly as have this pkg garage's rates. And they now offer overnight pkg as well as hourly. Unfortunately I'm afraid these changes may adversely affect this restaurant's business, and others in the area, as it's become so much more difficult to find parking downtown. And don't hope to find a "human" who can or will help. They've all been replaced by automation. AND don't get me started about the hordes of riders on scooters who fly down the sidewalks doing their best to mow pedestrians down. Keep your eyes peeled for them so you can hopefully avoid injury.
