This is a much overdue review. Ian did an amazing job installing our hardwood flooring in our home…read morein Truckee! We have used Ian twice, once in late 2019 for our original hardwood flooring install, and again in August of 2023. In 2019, we had a very positive impression of Ian early-on, just by the initial planning we saw him do for the floor layout, and it only improved from there. He told us about the known issues with the milling on the brand of flooring we selected (some pieces had varying widths and a few boards even tapered from one end to the other). He recognized the issue and knew how to sort the wood and handle the variation. (We don't want to even think about how the floor would have turned out with another installer without Ian's experience and diligence!) Because of the issues with the wood, the installation took longer than estimated. However, instead of rushing to get done on schedule and move-on to the next job, Ian took his time to make sure everything was done right, beginning to end. The results are amazing, and you should see the precise cuts around our river rock fireplace. We are truly impressed! It was so refreshing to see someone still taking genuine pride in their work, and deliver exceptional quality in today's construction world. Doing it right, even if it means taking longer on a fixed bid. He was the bright spot in an otherwise very stressful remodel. We are so happy that Ian of Metrik Flooring installed our flooring! Fast forward to 2023, when we unfortunately suffered water damage. We did not hesitate to contact Ian and had him install hardwood flooring for us again. Annie, the "estimator" came to my house to look at the tile that was cracking and measure the area for tile and carpet. She told me that my tile was cracking because the tile was installed incorrectly over the radiant heating. Long story short... they showed up, replaced the carpet and tile, removed my radiant heating, and cut off the wiring for the radiant heating to the wall without my permission. They failed to include a new radiant heating in the bid, and somehow that was my fault... I was specifically told after the fact that Annie, the "Tahoe SPECIALTY FLOORING" estimator wouldn't have known enough to have a conversation about radiant heating, so I must have made the whole thing up. They offered me $200 off of my $7,500+ bill. So I'm stuck with a large bill, a squeeky tile floor, and no radiant heating. I wish I would have just left the cracking tile and warm floor. Next time, I will be bringing a bay area contractor there that I can trust. I should have trusted all of the other bad reviews of this company. You are not specialists. You are con artists.

I feel like I won the lotto when I found Holm Construction. They have been nothing short of…read moreextraordinary! John & Stephanie took me through the entire project with such professionalism & care, I feel truly lucky to have found them. I was going to do the roof & the deck but John told me that the roof didn't need to be completely re-done and only 1 of my 2 decks needed work. He could have just "sold" me the new roof & both decks but was honest in his evaluation of my property. His integrity is beyond reproach. I ended up replacing only my top deck and ended up doing 2 bathrooms instead (along with replacing the necessary tiles on my roof). Since I am in a HOA, John worked with the association to get the proper decking & color to comply with their guidelines. It was seamless. He replaced the top deck completely and secured everything on the 2nd deck. He made it safe & sound and good for years to come. I took 2 bathrooms down to the studs. Thank goodness I did since dry rot was found. John kept me up to date and let me know of any hiccups. As others have mentioned, he helped me with suggestions that ranged from where to look for tile, toilets, etc to helping me with suggestions for the bathrooms. He was patient when I would change my mind on things (i.e. I decided on one color for the bathrooms but it looked just awful once it was on the walls so I picked out a new color and they repainted them for me). The work of his team is extraordinary! I had wainscoting put on the walls - the tile "flows" and the gentleman who installed it is a true artist. They laid plastic on all the carpets to avoid dirt and grime to take care of the rest of the house. As I was doing this, unfortunately I had 2 floods due to the snow from this past season. He discovered it one morning and instantly went into action to drain the water from the house, find where it was coming from & got to work fixing the problem (draining the water, opening the walls, putting industrial fans in the rooms). They were both insurance issues and Holm stepped up and helped me with that too! Talking to the adjuster, getting me separate invoices for the work, etc. This unexpected fiasco could have been a nightmare!! But John came to my rescue and stepped up to help. It was completely unexpected and not in the scope of work that I had contracted with them but he had my back and I can't begin to tell you how much his efforts, help & kindness saved the day. They are busy! I did have to wait "my turn" and that took about 4 months but well worth the wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a reason they have a waiting list, their work is beyond reproach! They are up front with their pricing. Nothing is ambiguous - no hidden fees. They will bend over backwards to help their client. I feel so lucky to have come across them. I will definitely be using them again for any future projects. I can't thank John & Stephanie enough - incredible people, phenomenal work & an A+ company! Incline is lucky to have you guys.
