To my vegetarian friends and friends from California, I recommend that you stop reading this review…read morenow. If you do decide to continue, the reason will soon become clear! Fitz Fine Foods is another of my favourite stalls at Borough Market, the foodie paradise of London. It's located in the Green Market where a lot of my favourite stalls seem to be located The reason this stall gets a whole-hearted 5 stars from me is that it's my supplier of fresh foie gras, which is sourced from France. Whole lobes of liver come vacuum packed and cost £27.50. An indulgent treat perhaps but once you've tasted it seared with a crispy shell encasing the richest and most unctuous melt-in-the-mouth delight, preferably offset with something sweet and perhaps a little sour, you know that it's worth every penny Foie gras is my favourite ingredient in the world and Noel Fitzjohn, the stall owner is only too happy to share his cooking tips with you. One invaluable tip that he gave me was that it freezes very well. If you have any leftover foie gras, he recommends that you slice it and he provides little individual freezer bags to put the slices in. These slices cook up brilliantly from frozen Foie gras is also available processed in tins but the fresh stuff is the best He also sells fresh pates and terrines as well as a line of flavoured mustards. When in season, you'll find fresh wild mushrooms and truffles Truly a shop for the gourmet!

This is another gem in Borough Market, the premier foodies' market in London…read more Located in the Jubilee Market, Mario Prati's stall specialises in the much sought-after fresh truffles from Acqualagna, in the Marche region of Italy. The star ingredient is available for smelling in a large jar marked 'Smell me!' Although I've never done drugs, I don't think many smells can beat the umami hit from fresh truffle They also sell truffle products like truffle salt and truflle oil, both secret ingredients I use in my cooking. If you can't afford fresh truffle, truffle salt is a great alternative. I've not tasted the truffle honey they have for sale and can't quite reconcile in my mind a combination of honey and truffle flavours However, Tartufaia also have another very important string to their bow. In a little refrigerated display to the side of their stall, they have different flavoured foie gras parfaits and terrines available for purchase. Wonderful flavours and your friends will be stunned if you serve these at a dinner party. The foie gras parfaits are super rich and I just let a little piece melt in my mouth as an indulgence. The terrines pair well with chutneys at room temperature for a decadent starter Limited products at this stall but definitely a case of quality over quantity!

It's lively, welcoming, and genuinely fun for the entire family. Even the waiting area is unique and thoughtfully done, which says a lot about how much they care about the customer experience. The staff and waitresses were all lovely, attentive, and made sure everything ran smoothly. We ordered a huge spread--pretty much the entire menu and then some--and everything was delicious. If you're sensitive to spice, I'd recommend staying away from the Sichuan soup. On the other hand, the clam-based soup was one of our favorites--comforting, flavorful, and perfect for balancing out the meal. Amazing food, amazing service, and a great atmosphere. Haidilao is absolutely worth the visit while in London.

Sharing hot pots are divided into four quadrants - we got half and half mala spice and the mild but super savory mushroom broth. Very different but both excellent! Individual dishes are ordered via iPad. We got a large selection of meats, veggies, noodles, and some more unusual delicacies like beef cheek and colon(?). There are self serve stations for sauce making, and some small sides and desserts/fruits. I LOVED the seaweed salad there and got three helpings... not sure what goes into this but it was so yummy. Tissue boxes at the table are a nice touch for runny noses with the spicy broth! There's a bit of a show that comes with ordered hand pulled noodles! A staffer comes out and pulls and spins and dances with the noodles table side. I think they also sing for birthdays (seemed to be a couple of those around us). For tourists, this is located in a nice area for a bit of a site walking tour before or after dinner! (To either work up an appetite or walk off a bit meal.) We strolled - Trafalgar Square, Big Ben & viewing Parliament/Westminster, St James Park, and Buckingham Palace.
