Spirit-led teachers and the community encourage, bring forth, and lay a foundation for the good, the sweet, the joyful in us, and what makes us shine the most in our own unique ways. Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom! It was the best decision we've ever made. Highly highly recommended!

"What type of education will my child get?" was a type of question I asked. Not only are their teaching standards top notch, but they also teach the students about God in a way I've never seen before. This is a real, legit, Christian school. They teach the kids not only standard education but they also teach children how to hear from God. They raise these children to be truly great selfless leaders that leave an impact in this world. This humble school is truly unique. I've never seen a school marry these principles of hearing from God and having standards of excellence in education. I love also that the parents are also like minded and such a great community that feels like family. One thing I was amazed about was how well the older students took care of the younger kids. They would invite them to play with them and were just so kind to my girls. The staff is so caring and they are always praying for our little ones.

In a really hard and isolating transitional time of life, LACS felt like the only place where we felt secure and at home. I was so thankful to know that everyday I dropped off my son, he would have fun (their playground facilities are amazing), he would be nurtured (the teachers we had were very attentive to my sons feelings), he would learn something (he knows his abcs, can count to 500 or more and can read short words, he is 4.5), he had a diverse set of friends (people of all races and socioeconomic groups send their kids here, we really value this!) and he would be safe. If you look at the profiles of the one star reviews they are questionable. One is just plain racist and the other one has reviewed 3 preschools all with 1-2 stars (something else going on there). Yes they plan adorable recitals, Mother's Day teas, etc. And I love them! And the kids feel like they are apart of something special. They also bring in mobile tide pools, snow into the playground once a year, the reptile guy, etc. If you are not a follower of Christ and you worry about the spiritual aspect. The extent of it is learning bible verses, praying before snack and meals and possibly a faith based recital song. My experiencing is they are not forceful with this at all but leave room for kids to explore and partake as they wish. If you are a follower of Christ, it's pretty cool to know your child is being prayed for daily and being taught to love others as Jesus loves them. Clearly, I can't say enough. I'd like to add nothing is perfect, and I'm not saying LACS is perfect. But it is great and they will care for and love your child. My youngest 18 months will be starting in the fall.

One of them is now about to graduate with exceptional STEM skills, including winning an award at the LA County STEM Fair. Thanks to the many opportunities the school provides for students to grow in what they love. New Horizon offers an impressive dual curriculum that balances strong academics with faith and character. Students receive Chromebooks, learn tech skills like Microsoft Office and presentations, and participate in STEM, debate tournaments, and even khateeb training starting in 7th grade. The school also shines beyond the classroom with a robust after-school sports program for girls and boys (with league wins!), as well as arts, music, garden, and kitchen lab programs. On top of that, their Islamic Studies, Quran, and Arabic programs are truly outstanding. It's an unbelievable, well-rounded experience, and we are so grateful to be part of this community. I went on to study engineering and was fully prepared for both the rigorous science and math, as well as my humanities general education. The small size and school events such as retreats and assemblies forge strong bonds between the students. This sense of community and belonging particularly sets apart the student experience at FSHA.

I went there for four years, after attending an overpriced non-religious private K-12 institution for 8 years. Let me just say that FSHA is full of extremely caring administrators, staff, faculty, and students. Yeah, I had a handful of teachers that I don't think were all that great. But those are made up and more by other, stand-out educators. (Mrs. Reed and Mr. Bernstein, just to pick one department [English] are game-changers the quality of whom you will not find elsewhere). You'd expect a cloistered, all-girls community to be catty, prissy, even unpleasant. But it was a lot of fun, and I made friends with most of the people in my class. I'm happy that I know 98% of the girls I met there. Maybe other schools have major drama, and maybe on average single-sex schools have more drama than coed schools, but FSHA is different. I had four great years there, on basis of great company alone. So, yes, I have mentioned (1) high teaching quality, (2) the nice people that go there, but what of the opportunities it presents? Well, how about its excellent, well-funded, successful sports teams, led by fun, challenging coaches? How about its beloved performing and visual arts programs (which do need more funding) that inspire and support young artists who go on to pursue their crafts in college? What about the literary opportunities, the science and math clubs, the service groups? That's 3. Lastly, beyond FSHA: You will learn to love the red dress uniform. You will meet great guys who go to the local boys' schools (Damien, Loyola, St. Francis, just to name a few). You will keep your friends after graduation. You will go to college. What kind of college? Well, FSHA isn't full of freak geniuses, true. But that doesn't stop TOLOGS from going to Ivies every year. Girls who want to go to MIT can go there. Girls get excellent scholarships, if they take full advantage of the opportunities available on the Hill. And if they don't, or if they're not that academic, they still go to some pretty good schools. Check the website. I wouldn't judge the school by its demographics. Most of the students can afford to go there full-price, yes, but a lot of them are on scholarship, so there is a good amount of diversity with regard to income. One thing is indeed homogeneous: TOLOGS are nice, and don't be so skeptical. Ask anyone who actually gave it a shot.
