CHEAP PRICE = CHEAP WORK !
I took a steel barrel to them for Powder Caoting. It was going to be a very special Firefighter 9-1-1 Memorial BBQ Smoker. My partner and I went by the shop with the barrels to show them the actual product. The guy (an older man) quoted us a very good price to powder coat it. I asked him about if it needed to be sandblasted first. He said NO, that he paints over the paint that is already on it, and it would be just fine, says he does it "all the time". So we agreed on the price, and brought our barrels back to them 2 weeks later for the work to be done. When we got there, the guy who gave us the price wasn't there, but we were welcomed by a couple of young guys, who were clueless, and the Office Manager, who is apparently the owners daughter. When we got there, we were told that they needed to be Sandblasted, and that cost more money than what we were quoted originally ( Can you say BAIT and SWITCH !) Anyway, we both decided to have both Barrels Sandblasted at the higher price. My partner went to pick up the barrels two weeks later cause I was unable to get there. Once I saw the workmanship on my Barrel, I was beyond shocked. Not only did the color not look anything like the color that I selected, ( Candy Apple Red Metallic) It had a purplish tint to it in the sunlight, and there was more orange peel texture on it than a Sunkist Navel Orange.(Having had 6 of my my Harley Davidson motorcycles powder coated over the years by a different powder coater, I know from experience that it is supposed to be very smooth and glossy, this was NOT the case. Obviously over sprayed, and not given enough time between coats to cure. DISAPPOINTED, Damn straight, will I ever go there again NO. So I guess the saying is true, you get what you pay for! I was prepared to pay more, but I expected quality work, and didn't get it. read more
